  • the technical solution relates to the construction of a locking of points with a cutting mechanism used to throw over the tongues of the points, especially for railway switches.
  • the main disadvantage of the present solution with an externally installed point-operating apparatus is the uneven distribution of the mass in the direction of the sleeper, or the asymmetric mass distribution relative to the track axis. Due to the operation, the trough sleeper with the point-operating apparatus is often rotated towards the more massive side, resulting in an undesired superelevation or steepness in the switch. This often causes failures of the geometric parameters of the track. All these facts lead to more frequent maintenance interventions, such as tamping. In particular on high-speed lines the dynamic behavior is very important in order to minimize the maintenance activity and to improve the comfort when passing through the switch.

  • An advantage of the present invention is that the hook rod of the locking and the mechanism of point-operating apparatus do not take part in the cutting of the point, so that the construction of the point-operating apparatus itself can be less robust and low in mass, which contributes to achieving a balanced distribution of masses around the track axis.
  • the abovementioned parts of the locking and point-operating apparatus are not stressed by high dynamic forces at the cutting of the point itself.
  • An advantage of the invention is also the provision of the hooks of the locking of points with rollers in order to reduce energy dissipation during throwing over, the hooks not being connected to the tongues.
