- Patent Document 1 relates to a technique for detecting an occupant inside a vehicle using an infrared sensor.
- an infrared camera is installed at a position where the background area becomes a window glass in the field of view, so that the background area is a window glass having a constant emissivity, and the passenger and the background are easily separated.
- Patent Document 1 cannot reduce the background infrared radiation.
- the window glass has a high emissivity of 0.94.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above problems.
- the objective of this invention is providing the coating material which can form the surface with low infrared radiation by application
- the paint of the present invention is Ceramic particles, A binder,
- the ceramic particles comprise a A a R b Al c O 4 , A a R b Ga c O 4, R x Al y O 12, and R x Ga y O a compound represented by any one of formula 12
- A is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba
- R is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements
- a is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- b is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- c is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- x 2.9 or more and 3.1 or less
- y is 4.9 or more and 5.1 or less
- the ceramic particles include pores; The porosity of the ceramic particles is 20% or more and 40% or less.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a paint that reduces infrared radiation at a specific wavelength by coating.
- CaYbAlO is a diagram showing the spectral emissivity of 4. It is sectional drawing which expands and illustrates the structure of a ceramic particle. It is a figure which shows the result of having observed the surface of the pellet with the scanning electron microscope.
- FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a paint 20 applied on a substrate 10.
- the paint 20 includes ceramic particles 22 and a binder 24.
- A is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba
- R is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements.
- a is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- b is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- c is 0.9 or more and 1.1 or less
- x is 2.9 or more and 3.1 or less
- y is 4.9 or more and 5.1 or less.
- the ceramic particles 22 include pores, and the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is 20% or more and 40% or less. This will be described in detail below.
- Ceramics have a characteristic of low emissivity in a specific wavelength region. However, since ceramics also have transparency, there has been a problem that the radiation of the material existing on the back surface of the ceramics is transmitted.
- the ceramic particles 22 included in the paint 20 according to the present embodiment have a characteristic that light emissivity and transmittance at a specific wavelength in the infrared band are small. Specifically, the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is 20% or more. Thereby, since infrared rays can be scattered before light is transmitted, there is little transmission of infrared rays. Therefore, the surface on which the paint 20 is applied has less infrared emission at a specific wavelength. In the detection by the infrared sensor or the infrared camera, when such a surface is used as the background, the contrast with the detection target can be increased, and the detection accuracy can be improved.
- FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an emissivity spectrum of CaYbAlO 4 . It is the result of having measured the porosity about 11%, 27%, and 36%, respectively, in the pellet-like CaYbAlO 4 K 2 NiF 4 type polycrystal. In addition, the average value of the temperature of the front surface and the back surface of the pellet at the time of measurement was 1027 ° C. with a porosity of 11%, 1127 ° C. with a porosity of 27%, and 1062.5 ° C. with a porosity of 36%. Moreover, it measured by installing SiC ceramics used as a heat source in the pellet back surface. SiC is a gray body with an emissivity of about 0.9.
- the emissivity was calculated by regarding the component in which the radiation from SiC was transmitted through the pellet as the radiation from the pellet.
- each spectrum has a peak corresponding to the 2 F 5/2 ⁇ 2 F 7/2 transition of Yb 3+ 4f electrons in the wavelength range of 800 nm to 1200 nm.
- the emissivity in the wavelength band of 1200 nm or more and 1700 nm or less is particularly low. Since radiation from SiC is strong in this wavelength band, it is important to lower the transmittance of the ceramic. As long as the porosity is maintained, not only pellets but also particulate polycrystals exhibit the same characteristics.
- FIG. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view illustrating the structure of the ceramic particles 22.
- the ceramic particles 22 have pores 221 and dense portions 222.
- the dense part 222 is made of a sintered body of ceramic crystals, and the holes 221 are formed in the gaps between the ceramic crystals. That is, it can be said that the ceramic particles 22 are polycrystalline sintered bodies.
- the holes 221 include portions that are connected inside the ceramic particles 22 but are not linearly continuous.
- the size of the pores 221 of the ceramic particles 22 is not particularly limited.
- the cross-sectional area of the pores 221 is 5 ⁇ m 2 or less.
- the cross-sectional area of the holes 221 can be confirmed by observing the cross section of the ceramic particles 22 with an electron microscope, for example.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is 20% or more and 40% or less.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is 20% or more, the emission of infrared rays due to the transmission of radiation from the substrate 10 can be sufficiently reduced.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is set to 40% or less, the strength of the ceramic particles 22 can be maintained and the radiation of R 3+ can be maintained.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 is more preferably 25% or more and 40% or less, and further preferably 30% or more and 35% or less.
- the “porosity” of the ceramic particles 22 is the ratio of the total volume of the gaps existing in the ceramic particles 22 to the total volume of the ceramic particles 22.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 can be measured, for example, as follows.
- a resin is applied to the surface of the ceramic particles 22, dried, and the weight in air is measured.
- the ceramic particles 22 coated with the resin are placed in a liquid, and the weight in the liquid is measured. Using these, the actual density of the ceramic particles 22 is measured.
- the theoretical density is obtained by calculation from the weight, crystal structure, and volume of the ceramic particles 22.
- the theoretical density of the ceramic particles 22 is a theoretical density when it is assumed that there are no pores in the ceramic particles 22.
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 can be determined using the above actual density and theoretical density.
- liquid can be prevented from entering the pores by applying a resin to the surface of the ceramic particles 22.
- the kind of resin applied to the surface of the ceramic particle 22 is not particularly limited. However, since it is applied to the surface, it is preferable that the specific gravity is small and the viscosity is high. Moreover, it is preferable not to react with the liquid used for the Archimedes method.
- the resin for example, an acrylic resin or a cellulose resin can be used.
- the ceramic particles 22 described above is represented by any one of the composition formula A a R b Al c O 4 , A a R b Ga c O 4, R x Al y O 12 , and R x Ga y O 12, Contains compounds.
- This compound is, for example, a crystal.
- these crystal represented by a composition of A a R b Al c O 4, or A a R b Ga c O 4 has, for example, K 2 NiF 4 -type structure.
- the crystal has a garnet-type structure for example represented by a composition of R x Al y O 12 or R x Ga y O 12.
- the main component of the ceramic particles 22 is the above described compounds, for example A a R b Al c O 4 in the ceramic particles 22, A a R b Ga c O 4, R x Al y O 12, and R it is preferable content of x Ga y O a compound represented by any one of formula 12 is 75 wt% or more.
- A is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba
- R is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements.
- R can be a lanthanoid, for example.
- the lanthanoid is, for example, one or more selected from the group consisting of Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb.
- Lanthanoid ion radiation can be used, for example, for calibration of sensors and cameras. Further, by setting R to Yb of a lanthanoid, it is possible to reduce other near-infrared radiation while showing the radiation of Yb 3+ ions.
- Ceramic particles 22 can be manufactured as follows, for example. A plurality of materials containing elements contained in the ceramic particles 22, for example, oxides, are prepared and weighed to a stoichiometric ratio so as to obtain crystals having any one of the above composition formulas. However, from the viewpoint of stability in the air, carbonate is preferably used as the material containing an alkaline earth metal element. Alkaline earth metal carbonates change to oxides when fired in air, so they may be weighed by the stoichiometric ratio of alkaline earth metals.
- a polycrystal is obtained by mixing and firing the materials. Thereafter, the polycrystalline body is pulverized to obtain primary particles. Further, the primary particles are press-molded and fired again, for example, to obtain pellets.
- the ceramic particles 22 are obtained by roughly pulverizing the pellets.
- the primary particles obtained by pulverizing the polycrystalline body preferably have a large particle size. If it does so, a clearance gap will be easy to be formed between a primary particle and a primary particle, and a big void
- the porosity of the ceramic particles 22 can be adjusted by adjusting the particle size of the primary particles, the pressure in press molding, the firing temperature at the time of pellet formation, and the like.
- the sintering temperature during pellet formation is preferably 1350 ° C. or higher and 1400 ° C. or lower.
- the sintering temperature at the time of pellet formation is preferably 1250 ° C. or higher and 1300 ° C. or lower.
- the sintering temperature By setting the sintering temperature to be equal to or higher than the lower limit, the sintering time can be kept short and the cost can be reduced.
- the sintering temperature By setting the sintering temperature to the upper limit or less, a sintered body having a suitable porosity can be stably obtained without lowering the porosity or melting the fired body.
- the particle size of the ceramic particles 22 is not particularly limited, but the maximum peak in the particle size distribution curve of the ceramic particles 22 is preferably located in the range of 5 ⁇ m to 100 ⁇ m. Then, the ceramic particles 22 can be easily fixed to the substrate 10 and the ceramic particles 22 can have an appropriate porosity.
- the maximum peak in the particle size distribution curve of the ceramic particles 22 is more preferably in the range of 10 ⁇ m to 60 ⁇ m, and still more preferably in the range of 20 ⁇ m to 50 ⁇ m.
- the content of the ceramic particles 22 with respect to the solidified product of the paint 20 is preferably 75% by weight or more and 92% by weight or less. Then, the ceramic particles 22 can be sufficiently bonded by the binder 24 and the infrared rays from the substrate 10 can be sufficiently shielded by the ceramic particles 22.
- the content of the ceramic particles 22 with respect to the solidified material of the paint 20 is determined by, for example, heating the solidified material of the paint 20 at a high temperature to ash components such as the binder 24 and then calculating the ratio of the weight before and after ashing. Can be sought.
- the binder 24 binds the ceramic particles 22 to each other in the solidified product of the paint 20.
- the binder 24 includes a resin.
- the binder 24 does not enter the pores 221 of the ceramic particles 22 in the paint 20 and the solidified product of the paint 20.
- the state of the binder 24 is not particularly limited, and the binder 24 may enter at least part of the pores 221 of the ceramic particles 22 in at least one of the paint 20 and the solidified product of the paint 20.
- the refractive index of the binder 24 is preferably 1.0 or more and 1.4 or less. If the refractive index of the binder 24 is 1.0 or more and 1.4 or less, the influence on the light transmission suppressing effect in the infrared band of the ceramic particles 22 is small even when the binder 24 enters the pores 221.
- the binder 24 may be a fluororesin. Especially, it is preferable that the binder 24 contains an amorphous fluororesin, and it is more preferable that it is an amorphous fluororesin. If it does so, the refractive index of the binder 24 can be made low.
- the light absorption rate of the binder 24 is preferably 0.1 or less over a wavelength range of 1200 nm to 1700 nm. Since the absorptance and emissivity of the substance become equal, the infrared emissivity of the binder 24 can be lowered by setting the absorptivity in the wavelength range of 1200 nm to 1700 nm to 0.1 or less. As a result, the infrared radiation of the paint 20 can be reduced.
- the paint 20 may contain a pigment, a solvent, a plasticizer, a dispersant, a thickener, and other additives in addition to the ceramic particles 22 and the binder 24.
- the total content of these additives is, for example, 5% by weight or less based on the solidified product of the paint 20.
- the coating material 20 can be obtained by mixing the ceramic particles 22, the binder 24, and other components as necessary.
- the paint 20 can be used by being applied to the surface of the substrate 10.
- the base material 10 is not specifically limited, it is a wall, a road surface, a ceiling, a floor, a signboard, a sign, etc.
- the base material 10 is covered with the solidified product of the paint 20 as the binder 24 is solidified or cured. If it does so, it will become easy to perform a person monitoring etc. in the infrared detection image which used the base material 10 for the background, for example.
- the ceramic particles 22 emit less infrared rays. Moreover, the infrared rays from the substrate 10 can also be blocked by the scattering (reflection) of the ceramic particles 22. Therefore, the surface to which the paint 20 is applied has less infrared emission. In the detection by the infrared sensor or the infrared camera, when such a surface is used as the background, the contrast with the detection target can be increased, and the detection accuracy can be improved.
- FIG. 4 is a diagram showing the result of observing the surface of the pellet with a scanning electron microscope.
- This figure is a pellet observations produced using primary particles having a composition of YbCaAlO 4. From this figure, it can be seen that the pellet has primary particles 222a and holes 221a.
- the hole 221a becomes the hole 221 in the ceramic particle 22 of the embodiment.
- the primary particle 222a comprises the dense part 222 in the ceramic particle 22 of the embodiment.
- the pellet was pulverized to obtain ceramic particles, which were mixed with a binder to produce a paint as described in the embodiment.
