Abstract
The present invention relates to a dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2); a washing tub (3) that is disposed the body (2) and wherein the washing process is performed; an upper rack (4) that is disposed in the washing tub (3), positioned close to the ceiling of the washing tub (3) and whereon the items to be washed are placed, and an upper spray arm (5) that is positioned so as to spray water to the upper rack (4).
Description
The present invention relates to a dishwasher with improved drying performance.
As is known, dishwashers generally comprise upper and lower racks which are placed inside the washing tub and wherein the kitchenware to be washed are placed. Each rack can be moved out of the washing tub so as to enable the dishes to be placed into the rack or taken out of the rack. Under each rack a spray arm, connected to the water line, is disposed, that rotates and sprays water onto the items placed on the rack. The spray arms may have various structures and forms. The spray arms are generally formed by joining two parts, namely a lower part and an upper part. Nozzles that spray water are arranged on the said parts. An upper spray arm that is positioned under the upper rack, enabling the kitchenware placed into the upper rack to be washed is used. The nozzles are arranged on the surface of the upper spray arm, which faces the upper rack. On the surface of the upper spray arm, which faces the lower rack, nozzles that enables the water to be delivered to the lower spray arm are arranged. In addition to the nozzles on the lower spray arm, the nozzles on the upper spray arm are used to deliver water onto the lower rack. When the washing process is completed, the dishes are dried. Successfully drying the dishes is critical for the shininess and cleanliness. Water droplets remaining on the dishes create stains and make them look pale. At the end of the washing process, some water may remain inside the upper spray arm. When the dishwasher door is opened or the upper rack is moved, the water inside the upper spray arm drips onto the kitchenware in the lower rack or onto the users hand. This causes the dried dishes to get wet and, when the water is hot, may cause the user to get injured.
In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2015000512, a dishwasher comprising a spray arm that has a channel for guiding the water and a filter is disclosed.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher with increased drying performance.
The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body and a washing tub disposed in the body. At least one rack wherein the kitchenware to be washed are placed is provided in the washing tub. The upper rack is positioned close to the ceiling of the washing tub and the lower rack is positioned close to the base thereof. Under each rack, a spray arm spraying water is provided. An upper spray arm is provided under the upper rack.
The dishwasher of the present invention comprises the upper spray arm that has a base enabling the water remaining therein to be guided after the washing process. By means of the inclined structure of the base, the water inside the upper spray arm can be drained just after the completion of the washing process.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the upper spray arm that has guiding surfaces enabling the water therein to be collected at the middle region. The base comprises at least two guiding surfaces that are inclined towards the middle region. Thereby, the water is collected at one area.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a connection element that enables the upper spray arm to be connected to the washing tub. The guiding surface is inclined from the connection element towards the ends of the upper spray arm. Thus, the water that is delivered to the upper spray arm through the connection element and is not sprayed into the washing tub quickly leaves the upper spray arm.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises more than one nozzle that is arranged on the guiding surface, in regions that are farthest away from the upper rack. The water in the spray arm is collected at the region where the guiding surface has the greatest inclination. The water collected is discharged by means of the nozzles.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the nozzle that has an open position and a closed position. The water collected in the spray arm is discharged when the nozzle is in the open position.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the nozzle that extends from the upper spray arm into the washing tub in the open position and is concealed in the upper spray arm in the closed position. When in the closed position, the nozzle becomes flush with the upper spray arm. In the open position, the nozzle extends with a predetermined angle from the upper spray arm into the washing tub.
A dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 – is the perspective view of the dishwasher.
Figure 2 - is the top view of the spray arm when the nozzle is in the open position.
Figure 3 - is the top view of the spray arm when the nozzle is in the closed position.

The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2); a washing tub (3) that is disposed the body (2) and wherein the washing process is performed; an upper rack (4) that is disposed in the washing tub (3), positioned close to the ceiling of the washing tub (3) and whereon the items to be washed are placed, and an upper spray arm (5) that is positioned under the upper rack (4) so as to spray water to the upper rack (4). The upper spray arm (5) is arranged under the upper rack (4) and sprays water to the upper rack (4). Thus, the items placed on the upper rack (4) are enabled to be washed (Figure 1).
The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises the upper spray arm (5) that has an inclined base (6) so that the water remaining therein is guided when the washing process is completed. The upper spray arm (5) comprises the inclined base (6). During the washing process, the water that is not sprayed is quickly discharged from the upper spray arm (5) by means of the inclined base (6). Thus, the items that are washed and dried are kept dry. Furthermore, the user safety is improved (Figure 4).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the upper spray arm (5) that has at least one guiding surface (7) enabling the water to be guided from the side edges towards the middle region. The guiding surfaces (7) are arranged on the base (6). By means of the guiding surfaces (7), the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5) can be quickly moved towards the desired region.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a connection element (8) enabling the upper spray arm (5) to be connected to the washing tub (3) and the base (6) that has the guiding surface (7) extending from the periphery of the connection element (8) towards the ends of the upper spray arm (5). The water is delivered to the upper spray arm (5) through the connection element (8). Thus, after the washing process is completed, the highest amount of water is collected in this region. In order to discharge the collected water, the guiding surfaces (7) are inclined from the connection element (8) towards the ends of the upper spray arm (5). Thus, the water is quickly discharged (Fig. 5).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the base (6) having a plurality of nozzles (9) that are arranged on the guiding surface (7), in regions farthest away from the ceiling of the washing tub (3) and that enable the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5) to be discharged. The nozzles (9) are arranged in the direction of the inclination of the guiding surfaces (7). Thus, the water is enabled to be discharged from the upper spray arm (5) by means of the nozzles (9).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the nozzle (9) that has an open position (A) wherein the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5) is discharged and a closed position (K) wherein the water is kept in the upper spray arm (5). The nozzles (9) can be in the closed position (K) or in the open position (A). When the nozzles (9) are in the open position (A), the water collected in the upper spray arm (5) is discharged into the washing tub (3). When the nozzles (9) are in the closed position (K), the water is kept in the upper spray arm (5). The user can change the positions of the nozzles (9). Thus, after the dishes are taken out of the washing tub (3), the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5) can be discharged (Figure 2, Figure 3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the nozzle (9) that extends from the upper spray arm (5) into the washing tub (3) in the open position (A) and is folded into the upper spray arm (5) to be concealed in the closed position (K). When in the open position (A), the nozzles (9) extend with predetermined angles from the upper spray arm (5) into the washing tub (3). Thus, during the washing process, a further amount of water is sprayed towards the lower rack. In the closed position (K), the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5) is prevented from being discharged. Thus, the dishes in the lower rack are enabled to be kept dry. In the closed position (K), the nozzles (9) are completely concealed in the upper spray arm (5). Thus, the nozzles (9) are prevented from accumulating dirt on the surfaces thereof.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher (1) with increased drying performance. By means of the guiding surfaces (7) on the base (6) of the upper spray arm (5), the water collected in the upper spray arm (5) is enabled to be quickly discharged. Thus, after the washing and drying processes, the items are prevented from getting wet with the water remaining in the upper spray arm (5).
