Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a projector.
  • a projector in which a user can adjust image quality by selecting parameters representing image brightness, contrast, hue, and the like.
  • the user can appropriately select the above parameters according to the viewing environment such as image type (still image, moving image), image content (movie, sports, news, etc.) or room brightness. .
  • Patent Documents 1 and 2 below disclose projectors that allow the user to arbitrarily select a color mode.
  • the “color mode” is an item for setting brightness, color tone, or the like according to the type of image, image content, or viewing environment.
  • the color tone, brightness, and the like of the image are adjusted by a method of switching the gamma characteristic of a light modulation element such as a liquid crystal panel according to the color mode. Therefore, depending on the selected mode, it is necessary to greatly reduce the amount of light emitted from the light source by the light modulation element, which causes a problem that the brightness loss of the image is large. On the other hand, when trying to minimize the brightness loss of the image, there is a problem that the color tone, brightness, etc. of the image cannot be adjusted sufficiently.
