Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for detecting the temperature of a battery constituting a battery system, and more particularly to a method for detecting the temperature of a battery while preventing erroneous detection due to noise.
- a battery system used in a power supply device is used as a power source for running an electric vehicle, or used as a power source for storing natural energy and supplying power to a load, or a power source for supplying power to a load in the event of a power failure
- the temperature of the battery changes depending on the external environment such as the charge / discharge current and temperature used.
- a temperature sensor such as a thermistor is fixed to the surface of the battery in a thermally coupled state, the temperature sensor is connected to the detection circuit with a lead wire, and the detection circuit detects the battery temperature from the electrical resistance of the thermistor.
- the battery system having this circuit configuration is realized by disposing a temperature sensor at an optimum position for temperature detection and mounting electronic components on a circuit board. Since the detection circuit is arranged at an optimal position for the arrangement of the circuit board, the temperature sensor and the circuit board are arranged apart from each other, and both need to be connected by lead wires. Since the temperature sensor and the circuit board are connected by lead wires, noise is induced in the lead wires, and an error occurs in the detected temperature due to the induced noise.
- the noise induced in the lead wire can be reduced by providing a high-cut filter noise filter, which is an analog filter composed of capacitors and coils, on the input side of the detection circuit.
- a high-cut filter noise filter which is an analog filter composed of capacitors and coils
- the analog filter effectively removes the noise component, that is, realizes an ideal frequency characteristic that attenuates the noise component more effectively, the component cost increases.
- an analog filter is provided on the input side of the detection circuit, there is a problem that the detection temperature of the battery temperature is delayed due to a phase shift. In particular, there is a disadvantage that the steep attenuation characteristic increases the phase shift and the detection time delay increases.
- the present invention was developed for the purpose of solving the above drawbacks.
- An important object of the present invention is the temperature of the battery system that can stably reduce the induction noise level with an inexpensive circuit configuration without using a large number of components, and that can accurately detect the battery temperature with the limit of detection time delay. It is to provide a detection method.
- the temperature detection method of the present invention detects the temperature of the battery in the detection step and the temperature specifying step.
- the detection step the battery temperature of the battery system is detected at a predetermined sampling period to detect the rate of change [(Traw-Told) / t] of the battery temperature per unit time.
- the temperature specifying step the battery temperature change rate [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] detected in the detection step is compared with a preset maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- Traw ⁇ Told) / t] exceeds the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max), the old rate of change of battery temperature before the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) or preset
- the battery temperature is calculated as an actual change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now) which is one of the set change rates ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t set), and the detected battery temperature change rate [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t]
- the battery temperature is calculated with the detected rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] as the temperature change of the battery.
- Traw is a detected value of the current battery temperature
- Told is a detected value of the battery temperature before Traw is detected.
- the battery system temperature detection method described above can reliably reduce the induction noise level while using an inexpensive circuit configuration without using many electronic components such as coils and capacitors that constitute the analog filter. A feature that can reduce the detection time delay is realized. This is because the above temperature detection method does not attenuate the noise with the analog filter, but the change rate [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the battery temperature to be detected is set to the preset maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t).
- the rate of change in battery temperature is specified by the amount of heat generated in the battery and its own heat capacity. If the calorific value is large, the gradient of temperature rise is large, and if the heat capacity is large, the gradient of temperature rise is gentle.
- the heat generation amount of the battery is specified from the flowing current, the maximum current of the battery is specified by the connected load, and the heat capacity of the battery is specified by the weight and specific heat of the battery. Therefore, the maximum value of the rate of change at which the battery temperature rises is specified by the load connecting the battery system, the weight of the battery, etc., and the rate of change never exceeds the maximum value. On the other hand, since noise includes a very wide frequency component, the rate of change of noise may exceed the rate of change of battery temperature.
- the rate of change in battery temperature to be detected is compared with the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t) max), and in the state where the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) is exceeded, it is determined that the change is due to noise.
- the battery temperature is specified from ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now). Therefore, in a state where noise exceeding the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) is induced in the battery temperature detection line, there is a feature that the battery temperature can be accurately detected without being affected by the noise.
- FIG. 4 shows that the temperature detection method of the present invention can remove the induced noise level very effectively.
- Curves A to C in this figure show the following waveforms.
- Curve A Noise waveform to be input
- Curve B Waveform that has passed through an analog filter
- Curve C Characteristic corrected by the temperature detection method of the present invention
- the detection waveform for detecting the battery temperature of the battery system shown by curve A in this figure includes noise of a rectangular wave.
- the rectangular wave which is noise, has a time width of 300 msec and a temperature change of 25 ° C. to 35 ° C.
- the conventional method using an analog filter has a characteristic indicated by a curve B with a slow change in the detected waveform that has passed through the analog filter.
- the analog filter slows down the steep change, but the peak value cannot be cut, so the change gradually gets closer to the detected temperature waveform and cannot efficiently eliminate all noise.
- the change value of the detected temperature that has passed through the analog filter is specified by the cutoff frequency and attenuation characteristic of the high cut filter.
- the attenuation of noise can be increased by lowering the cutoff frequency and making the attenuation characteristic steep.
- the cut-off frequency is lowered, it becomes impossible to detect a rapid temperature change, and the use of a coil with a large inductance and a capacitor with a large capacitance increases the component cost.
- an analog filter having a large attenuation characteristic increases the number of coils and capacitors used and increases the cost of parts.
- the analog filter since the analog filter has a phase shift from the vicinity of the cut-off frequency, there is a problem that a delay in detection temperature due to the phase shift becomes large. Therefore, even if the analog filter can remove specific noise having a narrow pulse width, it cannot effectively remove various noises.
- the phase characteristic of the analog filter is specified by the frequency characteristic, it is impossible in principle to eliminate the phase shift as the frequency characteristic for removing the noise level. For this reason, the conventional method of reducing the induction noise level with the analog filter cannot theoretically eliminate the time delay for detecting the battery temperature.
- FIG. 5 is a graph showing the measurement time delay.
- curve A shows the characteristic that the battery temperature changes with time
- curve B shows the characteristic of detecting the temperature by removing noise with an analog filter
- curve C detects the battery temperature by the method of the present invention. The characteristics are shown.
- the method using the analog filter causes a time delay in detecting the temperature, but the method of the present invention does not cause a time delay in detecting the detected temperature.
- the temperature detection method of the present invention has a feature that noise detected can be removed very efficiently as shown by a curve C in FIG. In particular, the noise level can be reduced by cutting the noise peak value.
- the temperature detection method of the present invention when the change value of the detected temperature is larger than the set value, it is determined that the change is caused by noise, and the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ told) of the previous temperature change is set in advance. This is because the battery temperature is calculated as the actual change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now) which is one of the set change rates ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t set).
- the temperature detection method of the present invention also realizes the feature that there is no phase shift due to the analog filter, and the change in the battery temperature can be accurately detected with a small time delay.
- an old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) is an average change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t mean) that is an average value of the battery temperature change rate before exceeding the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max). ).
- the above temperature detection method is based on the old rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t ⁇ old), the rate of change before the change rate of battery temperature to be detected [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] exceeds the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- the average change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t mean), which is an average value of the battery, has a feature that the battery temperature can be more accurately identified from the change rate before the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- the temperature detection method of the present invention can set the set change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t set) to a value that is 10% or more and less than 50% of the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- the sampling period for detecting the battery temperature can be 100 ⁇ sec or more and 500 msec or less.
- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) can be 0.2 ° C./sec or more and 5 ° C./sec or less.
- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) set in advance is compared with the rate of increase [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the rising battery temperature.
- Different values can be used for ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) and the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) on the lower side for comparing the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the decreasing battery temperature.
- the above temperature detection method has a feature that noise can be reduced more reliably in both the rising state and the decreasing state of the battery temperature.
- the temperature detection method of the present invention uses the battery system at the maximum load to detect a change in battery temperature, and sets the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ tmax) within a range of the battery temperature change rate at the maximum load ⁇ 100%. can do.
- a battery system 100 in FIG. 1 includes an assembled battery 10 including a plurality of rechargeable batteries 1, a temperature sensor 2 that detects the temperature of the battery 1 that constitutes the assembled battery 10, and input signals such as electrical resistance of the temperature sensor 2.

- the battery system of FIG. 1 detects a specific battery temperature with one temperature sensor 2, but the battery system is provided with a plurality of temperature sensors to detect all battery temperatures, or a specific battery temperature, for example, the most It is also possible to estimate the temperatures of all the batteries by detecting only the temperature of the battery, such as the battery temperature that becomes the highest temperature, the battery temperature that becomes the lowest temperature, and the average battery temperature.
- the battery system is used in various applications, for example, a power supply mounted on a vehicle to supply electric power to a traveling motor of the vehicle, or a power source for storing natural energy or an uninterruptible power source for supplying power in the event of a power failure. It is important to accurately detect the temperature of the battery 1 in every application. This is because, in order to protect the battery 1, the charge / discharge current of the battery system is controlled by the battery temperature, and the remaining capacity is calculated. In the method of detecting the battery temperature, reducing the noise level is particularly important for accurate temperature detection. This is because noise causes an error in the detected battery temperature.
- the temperature sensor 2 is disposed in a thermal coupling state with the battery 1 to detect the temperature of the battery 1, converts the battery temperature into an electrical resistance, and transmits the electrical resistance to the temperature detection circuit 3. Noise is induced from outside. Furthermore, noise in the power supply circuit is input to all circuits and causes detection errors.
- the temperature detection circuit 3 converts the signal input from the temperature sensor 2 into an analog signal and outputs the analog signal. The temperature detection circuit 3 outputs, for example, a voltage signal proportional to the temperature as an analog signal.
- the temperature sensor 2 receives a temperature signal including noise, and the noise is also input from a power supply circuit.
- the output of the temperature detection circuit 3 is input to the A / D converter 4, and the A / D converter 4 converts the input analog signal into a digital signal and outputs it at a predetermined sampling period. Therefore, the digital signal output from the A / D converter 4 becomes a temperature signal of the battery 1 including noise.

- the analog signal is output to the arithmetic circuit 5 as a digital signal.
- the A / D converter 4 can detect the rapid temperature change of the battery 1 by shortening the sampling period, but the temperature change of the battery 1 is specified by the heat capacity of the battery 1 and the heat generation amount or the heat dissipation amount.
- the sampling period is set to an optimum value in the above-mentioned range in consideration of the temperature change of the battery 1.
- the arithmetic circuit 5 subtracts the previous battery temperature detection value (Told) from the current battery temperature detection value (Traw), and further calculates [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] to obtain the rate of change in unit time. Is calculated.

- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) is set to, for example, 100% or more and 200% or less of the maximum temperature increase rate in the use state, preferably 100% or more and 150% or less of the maximum temperature increase rate.
- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) can be set within a range of ⁇ 100% of the rate of change in battery temperature at the maximum load by detecting a change in battery temperature while the battery system is used at the maximum load. .
- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) can be, for example, 0.2 ° C./sec or more and 5 ° C./sec or less.
- the arithmetic circuit 5 compares the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the battery temperature to be detected with the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] compared with the preset maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max). t] exceeds the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max), the old rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) of the battery temperature before the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) or a preset set rate of change
- the battery temperature is calculated as an actual change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now) which is either ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t set).
- the battery system rises in temperature due to internal heat generation, and cuts off when the current is heated to a high temperature.
- the rate of change in battery temperature ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t) is not necessarily the same when the temperature rises due to heat generation and when the temperature drops due to cooling.
- the rate of change in temperature rise ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t) in a state where charging / discharging is performed at the maximum current is the rate of change in temperature drop in the state where the current is cut off and the cooling is performed while the temperature is raised to the maximum temperature. It becomes larger than ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t).

- the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) in the temperature rising state and the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) in the state of decreasing temperature may be set to different set values. it can. According to this method, it is possible to more accurately detect the battery temperature when the temperature is lowered. That is, when the temperature is lowered, the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] is compared with a small maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max). This is because it can be removed.
- the absolute value of the rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t) is expressed as the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max). ) Is compared with the absolute value.
- the arithmetic circuit 5 determines that the temperature change of the battery 1 is the actual rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now). Calculate the temperature.
- the actual change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t now) is either the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) or the set change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t set).
- the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) is calculated from the change rate of the battery temperature before the temperature rise of the battery 1 exceeds the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- FIG. 2 shows a state in which the battery temperature detected at a predetermined sampling period changes, that is, a detected temperature signal input from the A / D converter 4 to the arithmetic circuit 5 and a rate of change in unit time ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t).
- the detected temperature signal of FIG. 2 increases rapidly due to the influence of the induction noise at the timing of Tn and shows a peak value. Therefore, the change rate [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the detected temperature signal exceeds the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) at the timing of Tn.
- the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) is calculated from the change rate of the battery temperature before the temperature rise of the battery 1 exceeds the maximum change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).
- the arithmetic circuit 5 calculates the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) at a timing before Tn from the battery temperature at time Tn-1 and the battery temperature at time Tn-2. That is, the arithmetic circuit 5 [(Battery temperature at time Tn-1)-(Battery temperature at time Tn-2)] / hour.
- the arithmetic circuit 5 calculates an average change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t mean), which is an average value of the change rates of the battery temperature at a plurality of timings, as an old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old). You can also.
- the method of calculating the old change rate ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old) from the average value specifies the number of times of calculating the average value in consideration of the sampling period of the A / D converter 4 and the gradient at which the battery temperature changes.
- the number of times of calculating the average value is preferably 3 times or more and 100 times or less. For example, the detected temperature is 10 times before the sampling period is 100 msec and the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) is exceeded.
- the average rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t mean) is calculated from the average value, the average value one second before exceeding the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) can be calculated as the old rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t old).

- Step n 4] This step determines whether the rate of change of the decreasing battery temperature exceeds the maximum rate of change.
- the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] becomes a negative value, and the absolute value of the negative value indicates the absolute value of the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max). Over. Accordingly, when the absolute value of the rate of change [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] of the battery temperature that exceeds the maximum rate of change ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max) exceeds [(Traw ⁇ Told) / t] ⁇ ( ⁇ T / ⁇ t max).

曲線A…
曲線A…

現実変化率(ΔT/Δt now)は、旧変化率(ΔT/Δt old)、又は設定変化率(ΔT/Δt set)のいずれかとする。

[n=2のステップ]
[n=2のステップ]
[n=3のステップ]

[n=4のステップ]

[n=5のステップ]
