この機能では、高速道路に設置された撮像装置1が、被写体の撮像によって得られた画像データを、コネクタ4を介して機能拡張装置3に引き渡す。機能拡張装置3は、コネクタ4を介して取り込んだ画像データを基に被写体の特徴データを抽出して登録しておき、その後に撮像装置1で撮像された画像データ中の特徴データを、既に登録された特徴データに照合することで被写体を追跡する。なお、被写体から抽出された特徴データは図8に示す制御フィールド#3に格納される。その他は上記(1-1)と同じである。
この機能では、撮像装置1が、注目人物の撮像によって得られた画像データを、コネクタ4を介して機能拡張装置3に引き渡す。機能拡張装置3は、その時の撮像装置1のパラメータ(位置・姿勢等の変化値)を検出し、それらのパラメータを他の撮像装置に伝えることによって、全ての撮像装置の位置・姿勢を同期的に動かしながら、注目人物を追従し撮像する。この機能では、撮像装置1の各パラメータが図8に示す制御フィールド#3に格納される。その他は上記(1-1)と同じである。
この機能では、雨天などの悪天候状態でも車両を認識可能なソフトウェアや、当該車両のナンバープレート又は運転手などを認識可能なソフトウェアが機能拡張装置3に実装される。撮像装置1は、車両の撮像によって得られた画像データを、コネクタ4を介して機能拡張装置3に引き渡す。機能拡張装置3は、コネクタ4を介して取り込んだ画像データを基に車両のナンバープレートや運転手などを認識する。この機能では、ナンバープレートや運転手などを認識するための認識情報が図8に示す制御フィールド#3に格納される。その他は上記(1-1)と同じである。
この機能では、例えば道路に敷かれているセンサなど、外部からのトリガーに反応して車両などの動画像および静止画像を記憶し、記憶した動画像および静止画像をスピード違反などの判定条件に応じてサーバに伝送可能なソフトウェアが機能拡張装置3に実装される。撮像装置1は、車両などの撮像によって得られた画像データを、コネクタ4を介して機能拡張装置3に引き渡す。機能拡張装置3は、コネクタ4を介して取り込んだ画像データを動画像や静止画像として記憶する。そして、機能拡張装置3は、記憶した動画像や静止画像を上記判定条件に応じて、コネクタ5を介してインターフェース装置2に引き渡す。引き渡された動画像や静止画像はインターフェース装置2を介してサーバに伝送される。なお、動画像や静止画像が引き渡されるインターフェース装置2の識別情報「2」は図8に示す宛先フィールド#2に配置される。上記判定条件は図8に示す制御フィールド#3に配置される。動画像や静止画像は図8に示すデータフィールド#4に格納される。

被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置との間に脱着自在に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置。

拡張される前記撮像装置の機能は、
前記画像データを処理する画像処理機能、前記撮像装置の動作環境を維持する動作環境維持機能、前記画像データの伝送方式を変更する伝送方式変更機能、前記画像データから前記被写体を認識する被写体認識機能の少なくとも一つから選択される(1)に記載の機能拡張装置。

被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方と、
前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との間に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置とは、
一方にコネクタプラグが設けられているとともに、他方に当該コネクタプラグの挿入及び抜去が可能なコネクタレセプタクルが設けられており、
前記コネクタレセプタクルに対する前記コネクタプラグの挿入または抜去によって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に脱着自在に構成されている機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との少なくともいずれか一方と、前記機能拡張装置とは、一方にフックが設けられているとともに、他方に前記フックと嵌合するフック受け部が設けられており、前記コネクタレセプタクルが前記コネクタプラグに挿入された状態で、前記フックと前記フック受け部とが嵌合することによって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に装着固定されるように構成されている(3)に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との少なくともいずれか一方と、前記機能拡張装置とは、一方に前記コネクタプラグの挿抜方向に延びるガイドピンが設けられているとともに、他方に前記ガイドピンと嵌合するガイド溝が設けられており、前記コネクタレセプタクルに対する前記コネクタプラグの挿入の際に、前記ガイドピンと前記ガイド溝とが係合することによって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に案内されるように構成されている(3)又は(4)に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置との間に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の複数の機能拡張装置を備え、
前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方は、他方との挿入または抜去を可能にするコネクタプラグ又はコネクタレセプタクルを有する機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方と他方は、前記コネクタプラグと前記コネクタレセプタクルとが嵌合した状態で、相互に係合するフックとフック受け部をそれぞれ有する(6)に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方と他方は、前記コネクタプラグと前記コネクタレセプタクルとが嵌合した状態で、相互に係合するガイドピンとガイド溝をそれぞれ有する(6)又は(7)に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。

被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、
外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置と、
前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との間に脱着自在に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置と、を備える機能拡張システム。
この機能では、例えば、撮像装置1とインターフェース装置2との間に2つ以上の機能拡張装置3を介在させて、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報を各々の機能拡張装置3に格納しておき、各々の機能拡張装置3で別々の画像処理を行ったり、一方の機能拡張装置3に何らかの障害が発生した場合に、片方の機能拡張装置3に格納されている画像情報を使用したりしてもよい。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3に記録された画像情報について、その記録・更新・生成が行われた時刻情報が管理される。例えば、撮像装置1において複数枚の静止画像(コマ)を連続して撮影する連写撮影が行われる場合に、当該時刻情報に基づけば、各コマが所定の撮影時間間隔で撮影されたか否かの管理が可能である。
この機能では、例えば、撮像装置1において複数枚の静止画像(コマ)を連続して撮影する連写撮影が行われる場合に、公知の相互相関法により基準となるテンプレート画像と被写体画像とを比較して、その類似度に基づいて、動いている被写体(例えば、走行中の車両や、車両の運転手の顔など)のみを静止画像(コマ)から抽出することが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、例えば、エリアスキャンで取得したハイパースペクトル情報を理論計算に基づいて、特定の帯域のスペクトル情報に置き換えることが可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、偏光画像を処理することが可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報から抽出したエッジ信号にエッジ強調係数を乗じ、この結果をもとの画像情報に加算することによって、画像情報におけるエッジ(輪郭)成分を強調することが可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報にメディアンフィルタ(Median Filter)を用いた画像処理を施し、n×nの局所領域における濃度値を小さい順に並べて、 真ん中にくる濃度値を領域中央の画素の出力濃度とする処理を行う。 これによりゴマ塩状の雑音除去が可能になる。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報の画素に対して、当該画素の明るさに応じたカラーマトリックスを用いてカラーマトリックス処理を行う。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3が、絞りの位置(絞り開閉度)を指示するためのアイリスコントロール信号を撮像装置1に送信する。そして、撮像装置1では、当該アイリスコントロール信号により指定された絞り開閉度に絞りの位置が設定される。
この機能では、例えば、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報中に、ネットワーク上の違法複製物を発見することを可能にするため、著作者等を特定する文字や数字等の情報を埋め込んでおくことが可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3が、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報のうち、特定部分(例えば守秘性の高い人物の顔画像など)の解像度を落としたり、当該特定部分にモザイクをかけたりして、当該特定部分をマスクで覆う処理が可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3が、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた露光量の異なる複数枚の画像情報を1枚の画像情報に合成することで、ダイナミックレンジを拡大させた画像を生成する処理が可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報(人物の顔画像など)に含まれる文字列を特定又は抽出することが可能である。これにより、機能拡張装置3は、当該人物の個人情報等を顔画像に紐付けて管理可能である。
この機能では、例えば、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1の撮像により得られた画像情報(人物の顔画像など)に含まれる幾何学パターンを特定又は抽出することが可能である。これにより、上記(H)で述べたOCR機能と同様に、機能拡張装置3は、当該人物の個人情報等を顔画像に紐付けて管理可能である。
この機能では、まず、撮像装置1が被写体画像(オリジナル)を撮像し、次に、機能拡張装置3は、撮像された被写体画像(オリジナル)の色をプリンタ等のデバイスで忠実に再現するために、撮像画像に対して色変換処理を施すことが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3が、画像認識の対象であるバーコードや2次元コード(例えばQR code)に対して画像認識処理を施して、これらのバーコードや2次元コードに対応付けられた所定の情報を抽出することが可能である。
この機能では、撮像装置1に振れが発生したときにこれが検知され、撮像装置1の振れに伴う撮像素子の撮像面上に結像される被写体像の移動が打ち消されるように、手ぶれ補正光学系が駆動される。これによって手ぶれ補正が実現される。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1による動画撮影によって逐次に得られるフレームをリアルタイムで解析して、特定の被写体の動き(位置の変化)を監視し、特定の被写体を追跡することが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、例えば、直線状のレーザ光源を測定対象物に照射し、その反射光を受光して3次元形状を計測する光切断法により、3D画像を形成することが可能である。また、機能拡張装置3は、2つの撮像装置1からの画像情報を取り込むことにより、ステレオ3D画像を形成することが可能である。さらに、機能拡張装置3は、加速させた荷電粒子(イオンまたは電子)の飛行時間を計測することにより対象の質量を測定する分析計(TOF:Time-of-Flight)型の処理も可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、例えば、画像認識技術により生態系の体長計算をすることが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、例えば、GPS端末を搭載して、正確な現在位置情報を取得することが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、例えば、複数の撮像装置1で撮像した複数の画像を1つの画像にスティッチングすることが可能である。
この機能では、機能拡張装置3は、ITSにおける車両の認識をすることが可能である。具体例として、機能拡張装置3は、撮像装置1で撮像した車両のナンバープレートと事前に登録されているナンバープレートとを照合するナンバープレート認識機能によって、車両の認識をすることが可能である。

- 被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置との間に脱着自在に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置。
- 拡張される前記撮像装置の機能は、
前記画像データを処理する画像処理機能、前記撮像装置の動作環境を維持する動作環境維持機能、前記画像データの伝送方式を変更する伝送方式変更機能、前記画像データから前記被写体を認識する被写体認識機能の少なくとも一つから選択される請求項1に記載の機能拡張装置。 - 被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方と、
前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との間に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置とは、
一方にコネクタプラグが設けられているとともに、他方に当該コネクタプラグの挿入及び抜去が可能なコネクタレセプタクルが設けられており、
前記コネクタレセプタクルに対する前記コネクタプラグの挿入または抜去によって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に脱着自在に構成されている機能拡張装置の脱着構造。 - 前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との少なくともいずれか一方と、前記機能拡張装置とは、一方にフックが設けられているとともに、他方に前記フックと嵌合するフック受け部が設けられており、前記コネクタレセプタクルが前記コネクタプラグに挿入された状態で、前記フックと前記フック受け部とが嵌合することによって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に装着固定されるように構成されている請求項3に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。
- 前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との少なくともいずれか一方と、前記機能拡張装置とは、一方に前記コネクタプラグの挿抜方向に延びるガイドピンが設けられているとともに、他方に前記ガイドピンと嵌合するガイド溝が設けられており、前記コネクタレセプタクルに対する前記コネクタプラグの挿入の際に、前記ガイドピンと前記ガイド溝とが係合することによって、前記機能拡張装置が前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置の少なくともいずれか一方に案内されるように構成されている請求項3又は4に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。
- 被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置との間に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の複数の機能拡張装置を備え、
前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方は、他方との挿入または抜去を可能にするコネクタプラグ又はコネクタレセプタクルを有する機能拡張装置の脱着構造。 - 前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方と他方は、前記コネクタプラグと前記コネクタレセプタクルとが嵌合した状態で、相互に係合するフックとフック受け部をそれぞれ有する請求項6に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。
- 前記複数の機能拡張装置の一方と他方は、前記コネクタプラグと前記コネクタレセプタクルとが嵌合した状態で、相互に係合するガイドピンとガイド溝をそれぞれ有する請求項6又は7に記載の機能拡張装置の脱着構造。
- 被写体を撮像して画像データを取得する撮像装置と、
外部装置との間でデータ通信を行うインターフェース装置と、
前記撮像装置と前記インターフェース装置との間に脱着自在に介在され、前記撮像装置の機能を拡張する構成の機能拡張装置と、を備える機能拡張システム。
