 図1は従来のコンロッド1の正面図である。図1に示すとおり、従来のコンロッド1は、大端部10と、棹部20と、小端部30とを含む。棹部20の一端に大端部10が配置され、棹部20の他端に小端部30が配置される。大端部10はクランクピンに連結される。小端部30はピストンに連結される。
 従来のコンロッド1は2つの部品(キャップ40及びロッド50)を備える。キャップ40及びロッド50の一端部が大端部10に相当する。ロッド50の一端部以外の他の部分が、棹部20及び小端部30に相当する。
 大端部10及び小端部30は切削して形成される。そのため、コンロッド1には高い被削性が求められる。
 さらに、コンロッド1は、エンジン動作時に周辺部材からの荷重を受ける。近年はさらに、省燃費化のために、コンロッド1の小型化及びシリンダ内の筒内圧力向上が求められている。そのため、コンロッド1には、棹部20を細くしても、ピストンから伝わる爆発荷重に対応可能な優れた座屈強度が求められている。座屈強度は素材の降伏強度に強く依存する。したがって、コンロッドには、高い被削性とともに、高い降伏強度が求められている。
 ところで、従来のコンロッド1は、上記のとおりキャップ40とロッド50とが別々に製造される。そのため、キャップ40とロッド50との位置決めのために、ノックピン加工工程が実施される。さらに、キャップ40とロッド50との合わせ面に対して切削加工工程が実施される。そこで、これらの工程を省略可能なクラッキングコンロッドが普及し始めている。
 クラッキングコンロッドでは、コンロッドを一体成型した後、大端部を破断して2つの部品(キャップ40及びロッド50に相当)に分割する。そして、エンジンに取り付けるときに分割された2つの部品を結合する。そのため、ノックピン加工工程及び切削加工工程が省略される。その結果、製造コストが下がる。
 このようなクラッキングコンロッド用鋼材及びクラッキングコンロッドの製造方法に関する技術は、米国特許第5135587号公報(特許文献1)、特開2010-180473号公報(特許文献2)、特開2004-301324号公報(特許文献3)、国際公開第2012/164710号(特許文献4)、特開2011-084767号公報(特許文献5)、及び、国際公開第2012/157455号(特許文献6)に開示されている。
 特許文献1には、次の事項が記載されている。クラッキングコンロッド用鋼は、重量%で、C:0.6~0.75%、Mn:0.25~0.50、S:0.04~0.12%を含有し、残部がFe、及び、最大で1.2%の不純物からなる。Mn/Sは3.0以上である。鋼の組織は、100%パーライトで、ASTM E112-88に準拠して測定された粒度が3~8である。
 特許文献2には、次の事項が開示されている。クラッキングコンロッド用鋼は、質量%で、0.20~0.60%のCを含むフェライト及びパーライト型の非調質鋼からなる。棹部はコインニング処理される。クラッキングコンロッド用鋼は、必須元素としてC、N、Ti、Mn及びCrを含有し、任意元素としてSi、P、S、V、Pb、Te、Ca及びBiを含有する。必須元素では、質量%で、Mnは0.30~1.50%、Crは0.05~1.00%、Nは0.005~0.030%、Tiは0.20%以下である。そして、Ti≧3.4N+0.02が満たされる。大端部の0.2%耐力は650MPaよりも低い。さらに、コイニング処理された桿部の0.2%耐力は700MPaよりも高い。
 特許文献3には、次の事項が開示されている。非調質コネクティングロッドは、質量%で、C:0.25~0.35%、Si:0.50~0.70%、Mn:0.60~0.90%、P:0.040~0.070%、S:0.040~0.130%、Cr:0.10~0.20%、V:0.15~0.20%、Ti:0.15~0.20%及びN:0.002~0.020%を含有し、残部はFe及び不純物からなる。式(1)で定義されるCeq値が0.80未満である。大端部の組織はフェライト及びパーライトからなる。大腿部の全硬さはビッカース硬さで255~320である。さらに、大端部のフェライトの硬さはビッカース硬さで250以上である。さらに、上記フェライトの硬さの、上記大端部の全硬さに対する比が0.80以上である。

 特許文献4には、次の事項が開示されている。非調質コネクティングロッド用棒鋼は、質量%で、C:0.25~0.35%、Si:0.40~0.70%、Mn:0.65%を超えて0.90%以下、P:0.040~0.070%、S:0.040~0.130%、Cr:0.10~0.30%、Cu:0.05~0.40%、Ni:0.05~0.30%、Mo:0.01~0.15%、V:0.12~0.20%、Ti:0.150を超えて0.200%以下、Al:0.002~0.100%、及び、N:0.020以下を含み、残部はFeおよび不純物からなる。下記式で定義されるFn1は0.60~0.80であり、下記式で定義されるFn2が7以上である。非調質コネクティングロッド鋼の組織の90%以上はフェライト及びパーライト組織である。フェライト及びパーライト組織におけるフェライトの割合は40%以上である。

 特許文献5には、次の事項が開示されている。クラッキングコンロッドの製造方法は、鋼材を用意するステップと、鋼材を1200℃~1300℃の温度範囲まで加熱するステップと、1000℃以上の温度で鋼材の少なくとも所定部位に50%以上の加工率となるような圧縮加工を与えて粗鍛造体に熱間鍛造するステップと、粗鍛造体を少なくとも5℃/s以下で冷却してフェライト及びパーライト組織を与えるステップと、を含む。製造されるクラッキングコンロッドは、質量%で、C:0.16~0.35%、Si:0.1~1.0%、Mn:0.3~1.0%、P:0.040~0.070%、S:0.080~0.130%、V:0.10~0.35%、及び、Ti:0.08~0.20%を含有する。そして、所定部位における硬さは少なくとも250HV以上である。
 特許文献6ではさらに、V含有量の低い非調質鋼が開示されている。具体的には、特許文献6には次の事項が記載されている。非調質鋼は、質量%で、C:0.27~0.40%、Si:0.15~0.70%、Mn:0.55~1.50%、P:0.010~0.070%、S:0.05~0.15%、Cr:0.10~0.60%、V:0.030%以上で0.150%未満、Ti:0.100%を超えて0.200%以下、Al:0.002~0.050%およびN:0.002~0.020%を含み、残部はFeおよび不純物からなる。下記式で表わされるEtは0未満である。下記式で表わされるCeqは0.60を超えて0.80未満である。

 特許文献1のクラッキングコンロッド用鋼は、欧州で広く実用化されている。しかしながら、特許文献1のクラッキングコンロッド用鋼は、降伏強度及び被削性が低い場合があり得る。
 特許文献2に記載のクラッキングコンロッド用鋼の降伏強度は高い。しかしながら、クラッキング性が低い場合があり得る。
 さらに、熱間鍛造の製造条件、例えば、熱間鍛造前の加熱温度は、製造拠点ごとにばらつく場合がある。熱間鍛造前の加熱温度がばらつけば、上記特許文献1~特許文献6に記載の鋼材及び製造方法によりクラッキングコンロッドを製造しても、クラッキングコンロッドのクラッキング性、降伏強度、及び、被削性のいずれかが低い場合がある。
 本発明の目的は、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度にばらつきが生じても、熱間鍛造後に高いクラッキング性、高い降伏強度、及び高い被削性を有するクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を提供することである。
 本実施の形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材は、質量%で、C:0.30~0.40%、Si:0.60~1.00%、Mn:0.50~1.00%、P:0.04~0.07%、S:0.04~0.13%、Cr:0.10~0.30%、V:0.05~0.14%、Ti:0.15%を超えて0.20%以下、N:0.002~0.020%、Cu:0~0.40%、Ni:0~0.30%、Mo:0~0.10%、Pb:0~0.30%、Te:0~0.30%、Ca:0~0.010%、及び、Bi:0~0.30%を含有し、残部がFeおよび不純物からなり、式(1)で定義されるfn1が0.65~0.80となる化学組成を有する。クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量に対する、200nm以上の粒子径を有する粗大析出物中のV含有量の比率は70%以下である。クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量に対する、粗大析出物中のTi含有量の比率は50%以上である。

 ここで、式(1)中の元素記号には、対応する元素の含有量(質量%)が代入され、対応する元素が含有されていない場合、「0」が代入される。
 本実施形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材は、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度にばらつきが生じても、熱間鍛造後に高いクラッキング性、高い降伏強度、及び高い被削性を得られる。

 本実施の形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材は、質量%で、C:0.30~0.40%、Si:0.60~1.00%、Mn:0.50~1.00%、P:0.04~0.07%、S:0.04~0.13%、Cr:0.10~0.30%、V:0.05~0.14%、Ti:0.15%を超えて0.20%以下、N:0.002~0.020%、Cu:0~0.40%、Ni:0~0.30%、Mo:0~0.10%、Pb:0~0.30%、Te:0~0.30%、Ca:0~0.010%、及び、Bi:0~0.30%を含有し、残部がFeおよび不純物からなり、式(1)で定義されるfn1が0.65~0.80となる化学組成を有する。クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量に対する、200nm以上の粒子径を有する粗大析出物中のV含有量の比率は70%以下である。クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量に対する、粗大析出物中のTi含有量の比率は50%以上である。

 ここで、式(1)中の元素記号には、対応する元素の含有量(質量%)が代入され、対応する元素が含有されていない場合、「0」が代入される。
 本実施形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材では、式(1)で定義されるfn1が0.65~0.80の範囲内である。そのため、優れた降伏強度及び被削性が得られる。
 さらに、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量に対する、200nm以上の粒子径を有する粗大析出物中のV含有量の比率は70%以下である。この場合、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中には、200nm未満の粒子径を有する微細なV析出物(Vを含有する析出物)が多数存在する。熱間鍛造工程の加熱時において、微細なV析出物は溶解しやすい。そのため、熱間鍛造工程での加熱温度が低温(たとえば1000℃程度)であっても、加熱によりVが固溶しやすい。固溶したVは、熱間鍛造の冷却過程で炭化物として析出する。その結果、熱間鍛造工程での加熱温度がばらついても、熱間鍛造後の鋼材は、優れた降伏強度を安定して得られる。
 さらに、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量に対する、粗大析出物中のTi含有量の比率は50%以上である。本実施形態において、Tiは硫化物及び炭硫化物を形成して、鋼の被削性を高める。Tiはさらに、熱間鍛造工程の加熱時に一部が鋼中に固溶する。固溶したTiは、その後の冷却時に炭化物を形成してフェライトを脆化し、クラッキング性を高める。しかしながら、熱間鍛造工程の加熱時に、Tiの固溶量が高すぎれば、冷却後の鋼材組織がベイナイトになる。この場合、クラッキング性が低下する。Tiの固溶量が高すぎればさらに、鋼材の引張強度が高くなりすぎ、被削性が低下する。したがって、熱間鍛造工程での加熱時に、Ti析出物(Tiを含有する析出物)が過剰に溶解するのを抑制できる方が好ましい。粗大析出物中のTi含有量の比率が50%以上である場合、鋼中の微細なTi析出物は十分に少ない。そのため、熱間鍛造工程の加熱温度が高い場合(たとえば1280℃)であっても、Ti析出物が溶解しにくく(つまり、Tiが固溶しにくく)、クラッキング性及び被削性が低下するのを抑制できる。
 以上より、本実施形態のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材は、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度にばらつきが生じても、熱間鍛造後に高いクラッキング性、高い降伏強度、及び高い被削性を有する。
 上記化学組成は、Cu:0.01~0.40%、Ni:0.01~0.30%、及び、Mo:0.01~0.10%からなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有してもよい。上記化学組成はまた、Pb:0.05~0.30%、Te:0.0003~0.30%、Ca:0.0003~0.010%、及び、Bi:0.0003~0.30%からなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有してもよい。
 以下、本実施形態のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材について詳しく説明する。各元素の含有量の「%」は「質量%」を意味する。
 [化学組成]
 本実施形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の化学組成は、次の元素を含有する。
 C:0.30~0.40%
 炭素(C)は、鋼の強度を高める。C含有量が低すぎれば、この効果が得られない。一方、C含有量が高すぎれば、鋼材の硬さが高まり、被削性が低下する。したがって、C含有量は0.30~0.40%である。C含有量の好ましい下限は0.30%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.31%であり、さらに好ましくは0.32%である。C含有量の好ましい上限は0.40%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.39%であり、さらに好ましくは0.38%である。
 Si:0.60~1.00%
 シリコン(Si)は、鋼を脱酸する。Siはさらに、鋼に固溶して鋼の強度を高める。Si含有量が低すぎれば、この効果が得られない。一方、Si含有量が高すぎれば、上記効果は飽和する。Si含有量が高すぎればさらに、鋼の熱間加工性が低下し、鋼材の製造コストも高くなる。したがって、Si含有量は0.60~1.00%である。Si含有量の好ましい下限は0.60%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.62%であり、さらに好ましくは0.65%である。Si含有量の好ましい上限は1.00%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.95%であり、さらに好ましくは0.90%である。
 Mn:0.50~1.00%
 マンガン(Mn)は鋼を脱酸する。Mnはさらに、鋼の強度を高める。Mn含有量が低すぎれば、これらの効果は得られない。一方、Mn含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。Mn含有量が高すぎればさらに、焼入れ性が高くなり、鋼の組織にベイナイトが生成する。この場合、鋼のクラッキング性が低下する。したがって、Mn含有量は0.50~1.00%である。Mn含有量の好ましい下限は0.50%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.60%であり、さらに好ましくは0.65%である。Mn含有量の好ましい上限は1.00%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.95%であり、さらに好ましくは0.90%である。
 P:0.04~0.07%
 燐(P)は、粒界に偏析して鋼を脆化する。そのため、破断分割後のクラッキングコンロッドの破面は平滑になる。その結果、破断分割後のクラッキングコンロッドの組み付けの精度が高まる。P含有量が低すぎれば、この効果は得られない。一方、P含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。したがって、P含有量は0.04~0.07%である。P含有量の好ましい下限は0.04%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.042%であり、さらに好ましくは0.045%である。P含有量の好ましい上限は0.07%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.068%であり、さらに好ましくは0.065%である。
 S:0.04~0.13%
 硫黄(S)は、Mn及びTiと結合して硫化物を形成し、鋼の被削性を高める。S含有量が低すぎれば、この効果は得られない。一方、S含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。したがって、S含有量は0.04~0.13%である。S含有量の好ましい下限は0.04%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.045%であり、さらに好ましくは0.05%である。S含有量の好ましい上限は0.13%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.125%であり、さらに好ましくは0.12%である。
 Cr:0.10~0.30%
 クロム(Cr)は鋼の強度を高める。Cr含有量が低すぎれば、この効果は得られない。一方、Cr含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の焼入れ性が高くなり、鋼の組織にベイナイトが生成する。この場合、鋼のクラッキング性が低下する。Cr含有量が高すぎればさらに、製造コストが高くなる。したがって、Cr含有量は0.10~0.30%である。Cr含有量の好ましい下限は0.10%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.11%であり、さらに好ましくは0.12%である。Cr含有量の好ましい上限は0.30%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.25%であり、さらに好ましくは0.20%である。
 V:0.05~0.14%
 バナジウム(V)は、熱間鍛造後の冷却過程でフェライト中に炭化物として析出し、鋼の降伏強度を高める。Vはさらに、Tiと共に含有されることにより、鋼のクラッキング性を高める。V含有量が低すぎれば、これらの効果が得られない。一方、V含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の製造コストが極めて高くなるだけでなく、被削性が低下する。したがって、V含有量は0.05~0.14%である。V含有量の好ましい下限は0.05%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.06%であり、さらに好ましくは0.07%である。V含有量の好ましい下限は0.14%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.13%であり、さらに好ましくは0.13%未満である。
 Ti:0.15%を超えて0.20%以下
 チタン(Ti)は炭化物又は窒化物として鋼中に析出して、鋼の強度を高める。Tiはさらに、硫化物又は炭硫化物を生成して、鋼の被削性を高める。
 熱間鍛造前にクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を加熱した場合、Ti硫化物及びTi炭硫化物中のTiの一部は固溶する。さらに、熱間鍛造後に鋼材が大気放冷された場合、フェライト変態が開始されるまで、Tiの一部は固溶したままである。フェライト変態が開始されると、固溶Tiはフェライト中のVと共に炭化物として析出し、鋼の降伏強度及び引張強度を高める。フェライト変態時に生成したTi炭化物はさらに、フェライトを脆化して鋼のクラッキング性を高める。Ti含有量が低すぎれば、これらの効果が得られない。一方、Ti含有量が高すぎれば、熱間鍛造前に固溶するTi含有量が高くなりすぎる。この場合、鋼の焼入れ性が高くなり、ベイナイトが生成する。さらに、析出するTi炭化物の個数も多くなりすぎ、鋼の引張強度が高くなりすぎる。この場合、鋼の被削性が低下する。したがって、Ti含有量は0.15%を超えて0.20%以下である。Ti含有量の好ましい上限は0.20%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.19%である。
 N:0.002~0.020%
 窒素(N)はTiと結合して窒化物を形成し、鋼の強度を高める。N含有量が低すぎれば、この効果は得られない。一方、N含有量が高すぎれば、この効果は飽和する。したがって、N含有量は0.002~0.020%である。N含有量の好ましい下限は0.002%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.003%であり、さらに好ましくは0.004%である。N含有量の好ましい上限は0.020%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.019%であり、さらに好ましくは0.018%である。
 本実施の形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の化学組成の残部は、Feおよび不純物からなる。ここで、不純物とは、鋼材を工業的に製造する際に、原料としての鉱石、スクラップ、または製造環境などから混入されるものであって、本実施形態の鋼材に悪影響を与えない範囲で許容されるものを意味する。
 本実施の形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の化学組成はさらに、Feの一部に代えて、Cu、Ni及びMoからなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有してもよい。これらの元素は任意元素であり、いずれも鋼の強度を高める。
 Cu:0~0.40%
 銅(Cu)は任意元素であり、含有しなくてもよい。含有される場合、Cuは鋼に固溶して鋼の強度を高める。しかしながら、Cu含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の製造コストが高くなるだけでなく、被削性が低下する。したがって、Cu含有量は0~0.40%である。Cu含有量の好ましい下限は0.01%であり、さらに好ましくは0.05%であり、さらに好ましくは0.10%である。Cu含有量の好ましい上限は0.40%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.35%であり、さらに好ましくは0.30%である。
 Ni:0~0.30%
 ニッケル(Ni)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Niは鋼に固溶して鋼の強度を高める。しかしながら、Ni含有量が高すぎれば、製造コストが高くなるだけでなく、シャルピー衝撃値が上昇し、クラッキング性が低下する。したがって、Ni含有量は0~0.30%である。Ni含有量の好ましい下限は0.01%であり、さらに好ましくは0.02%であり、さらに好ましくは0.05%である。Ni含有量の好ましい上限は0.30%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.28%であり、さらに好ましくは0.25%である。
 Mo:0~0.10%
 モリブデン(Mo)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Moは鋼に固溶して鋼の強度を高める。Moはさらに、鋼中で炭化物を形成して鋼の強度を高める。しかしながら、Mo含有量が高すぎれば、焼入れ性が高くなり、熱間鍛造後にベイナイトが生成する。この場合、鋼のクラッキング性が低下する。したがって、Mo含有量は0~0.10%である。Mo含有量の好ましい下限は0.01%である。Mo含有量の好ましい上限は0.10%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.09%であり、さらに好ましくは0.08%である。
 本実施の形態によるクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の化学組成はさらに、Feの一部に代えて、Pb、Te、Ca及びBiからなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有してもよい。これらの元素は任意元素であり、いずれも鋼の被削性を高める。
 Pb:0~0.30%
 鉛(Pb)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Pbは鋼の被削性を高める。しかしながら、Pb含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。したがって、Pb含有量は0~0.30%である。Pb含有量の好ましい下限は0.05%であり、さらに好ましくは0.10%である。Pb含有量の好ましい上限は0.30%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.25%であり、さらに好ましくは0.20%である。
 Te:0~0.30%
 テルル(Te)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Teは鋼の被削性を高める。しかしながら、Te含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。したがって、Te含有量は0~0.30%である。Te含有量の好ましい下限は0.0003%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0005%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0010%である。Te含有量の好ましい上限は0.30%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.25%であり、さらに好ましくは0.20%である。
 Ca:0~0.010%
 カルシウム(Ca)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Caは鋼の被削性を高める。しかしながら、Ca含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性が低下する。したがって、Ca含有量は0~0.010%である。Ca含有量の好ましい下限は0.0003%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0005%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0010%である。Ca含有量の好ましい上限は0.010%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.008%であり、さらに好ましくは0.005%である。
 Bi:0~0.30%
 ビスマス(Bi)は任意元素であり、含有されなくてもよい。含有された場合、Biは鋼の被削性を低下する。しかしながら、Bi含有量が高すぎれば、鋼の熱間加工性を低下する。したがって、Bi含有量は0~0.30%である。Bi含有量の好ましい下限は0.0003%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0005%であり、さらに好ましくは0.0010%である。Bi含有量の好ましい上限は0.30%未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.20%であり、さらに好ましくは0.10%である。

 本実施形態の鋼材の化学組成ではさらに、式(1)で定義されるfn1が0.65~0.80である。

 式(1)中の元素記号には、対応する元素の含有量(質量%)が代入される。式(1)中の元素記号と対応する元素が含有されていない場合、その元素記号には「0」が代入される。
 fn1は、鋼の熱間鍛造後の引張強度と正の相関を有する。fn1が0.80よりも高い場合、鋼の引張強度が高くなりすぎ、鋼の被削性が低下する。fn1はさらに、鋼の降伏強度とも正の関係を有する。したがって、fn1が0.65未満である場合、鋼の強度が低下する。fn1が0.65~0.80であれば、鋼材は優れた強度及び被削性を有する。fn1の好ましい下限は0.65よりも高く、さらに好ましくは0.66であり、さらに好ましくは0.67である。fn1の好ましい上限は0.80未満であり、さらに好ましくは0.79であり、さらに好ましくは0.78である。
 [析出物中のV含有量及びTi含有量]
 本実施形態ではさらに、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量に対する、200nm以上の粒子径を有する粗大析出物中のV含有量の比率が70%以下である。さらに、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量に対する、上記粗大介在物中のTi含有量の比率は50%以上である。以下、この点を詳述する。
 [析出物中のV含有量]
 本実施形態において、Vは炭化物として析出する。さらに詳しくは、Vは熱間鍛造前の加熱段階において一旦固溶し、熱間鍛造後の冷却中において、炭化物として相変態中のオーステナイト-フェライト界面に析出する(相界面析出)。V炭化物の相界面析出により、熱間鍛造後の鋼材の降伏強度は高くなる。この効果を得るために、熱間鍛造前の鋼材において、Vはオーステナイトに固溶している方が好ましい。
 Vを含有する析出物(以下、V析出物という)の固溶を促進するためには、熱間鍛造前のV析出物を微細化し、V析出物の総表面積を増大することが有効である。つまり、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV析出物が微細であることがVの固溶に有効である。V析出物が微細であり、その総表面積が大きければ、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度が低温(例えば1000℃)であっても、加熱中にVがオーステナイトに十分固溶するためである。
 クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材全体におけるV含有量をVm(質量%)、鋼材全体における粗大析出物中のV含有量をVp(質量%)とした場合、式(2)で定義されるV比率Rvが70%以下であれば、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV析出物が十分に微細である。そのため、熱間鍛造の加熱時に、Vが十分に固溶する。そのため、熱間鍛造後の冷却過程でV炭化物が微細に析出し、熱間鍛造後の鋼材において高い強度が得られる。
 Rv=Vp/Vm×100 (2)
 Vm及びVpは次の方法で測定される。丸棒状のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の任意のR/2部(鋼材の断面において、鋼材の中心軸線と鋼材の外周面との間を2等分する点を含む領域)から直径8mm、長さ12mmの円柱試験片を採取する。円柱試験片の長さは、鋼材の軸方向と平行である。
 円柱試験片を用いて、電解法による抽出残渣分析を実施する。具体的には、電流を一定にして電解時間を調整し、円柱試験片の表面から200μm深さまでの表層を除去する。これにより、円柱試験片の表面に付着した不純物が除去される。表層を除去した後、電解液を交換して新しい電解液を準備する。電解液にはいずれも、AA系電解液(10vol%アセチルアセトンと1vol%塩化テトラメチルアンモニウムとを含有し、残部がメタノールからなる電解液)を用いる。
 上記新しい電解液を用いて、円柱試験片に対して電解を実施する。このとき、電流を1000mAで一定として、電解される円柱試験片の体積が0.5cmとなるように、電解時間を調整する。電解後の電解液を、メッシュサイズが200nmのフィルタを用いてろ過し、残渣を得る。得られた残渣は粗大析出物に相当する。
 得られた残渣に対して誘導結合プラズマ(IPC)発光分光分析法を実施して、粗大析出物中のV含有量Vp(%)を求める。具体的には、Vpは次の式で求められる。
 Vp=0.5cmの鋼材内の粗大析出物中のV量(mg)/0.5cmの鋼材の質量(mg)×100
 一方、電解後の円柱試験片を用いて、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量を次の方法で測定する。円柱試験片から切粉を採取する。切粉は例えば、円柱試験片を旋盤して得られる。切粉に対してIPC発行分光分析法を実施して、V含有量Vm(%)を求める。得られたVp及びVmを用いて、式(2)より、V比率Rv(%)を求める。
 [析出物中のTi含有量]
 本実施形態において、TiはTi炭化物又はTi窒化物、Ti硫化物又はTi炭硫化物として析出する。Ti硫化物及びTi炭硫化物は、鋼材のクラッキング性を高める。しかしながら、熱間鍛造時の加熱において、Ti硫化物及びTi炭硫化物が過剰に溶解して、オーステナイト中に固溶するTi量が増加するのは好ましくない。熱間鍛造時の加熱温度が高温(例えば1280℃)となった場合に、オーステナイト中に固溶するTi量が多すぎれば、熱間鍛造後の冷却工程において、Ti炭化物が過剰に析出する。この場合、熱間鍛造後の鋼材の強度が高くなりすぎ、被削性が低下する。
 オーステナイト中の固溶Ti量が多すぎればさらに、冷却中にベイナイトが生成する。ベイナイトは鋼材のシャルピー衝撃値を過剰に高める。そのため、鋼材のクラッキング性が低下する。
 したがって、Ti硫化物及びTi炭硫化物は、熱間鍛造での加熱において、なるべく溶けない方が好ましい。Tiの過剰な固溶を抑制するためには、熱間鍛造前のTiを含有する析出物(以下、Ti析出物という)を粗大化してTi析出物の表面積を小さくすることが有効である。Ti析出物が粗大であり、その総表面積が小さければ、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度が高温(例えば1280℃)であっても、加熱中にTiがオーステナイトに固溶しにくいためである。
 クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量をTim(%)、粗大析出物中のTi含有量をTip(%)と定義する。この場合、式(3)で定義されるTi比率Rtiが50%以上であれば、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi析出物が十分に粗大である。そのため、熱間鍛造の加熱時に、Tiの過剰な固溶を十分に抑えることができる。そのため、熱間鍛造後の鋼材において高い被削性及びクラッキング性が得られる。
 Rti=Tip/Tim×100 (3)
 Tim及びTipは次の方法で測定される。Vm及びVpを求める場合と同様に円柱試験片を採取する。続いて、Vm及びVpを求める場合と同じ条件で電解して残渣(粗大析出物)を得る。残渣に対して、Vpを求めた場合と同じ条件でICP発光分光分析法を実施して、粗大析出物中のTi含有量Tip(%)を求める。具体的には、Tipは次の式で求められる。
 Tip=0.5cmの鋼材内粗大析出物中のTi量(mg)/0.5cmの鋼材の質量(mg)×100
 さらに、Vmを求める場合と同じ方法で切粉を採取する。採取された切粉に対して、Vmを求めた場合と同じ条件でICP発光分光分析法を実施して、鋼材中のTi含有量Tim(%)を求める。得られたTip及びTimを用いて、式(3)によりTi比率Rti(%)を求める。
 好ましいTi比率Rtiは50%よりも高く、さらに好ましくは60%以上であり、さらに好ましくは70%以上である。
 [製造方法]
 上述のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材の製造方法の一例を説明する。
 上述の化学組成を有する溶鋼を周知の方法で製造する。製造された溶鋼を利用して、連続鋳造法により鋳片(スラブ又はブルーム)を製造する。溶鋼を利用して造塊法によりインゴットを製造してもよい。連続鋳造法によりビレットを製造してもよい。
 製造された鋳片又はインゴットを熱間加工してビレットを製造する。熱間加工はたとえば、熱間圧延である。熱間圧延はたとえば、分塊圧延機、及び、複数のスタンドが一列に並ぶ連続圧延機を利用して実施される。
 ビレットを用いて棒鋼(クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材)を製造する。具体的には、ビレットを加熱炉で加熱する(加熱工程)。加熱後、連続圧延機を用いてビレットを熱間圧延し、棒状のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材にする(熱間圧延工程)。以下、各工程について説明する。
 [加熱工程]
 加熱工程において、ビレットを1000~1100℃で加熱する。加熱温度Tfが低すぎれば、ビレット中のV析出物が溶解しにくい。そのため、ビレットに存在していた粗大なV析出物が熱間圧延後も引き継がれ、圧延後の鋼材中の粗大なV析出物が多くなる。そのため、V比率Rvが70%を超える。さらに、加熱温度Tfが低すぎれば、加熱中にTi析出物が凝集及び成長せず、粗大化しにくい。そのため、圧延後の鋼材中に粗大なTi析出物が少なく、Ti比率Rtiが50%未満となる。
 加熱温度Tfが高くなれば、Ti析出物は凝集及び成長する。しかし、加熱温度Tfが高すぎれば、加熱中にTi析出物が過度に固溶する。固溶したTiは圧延中もしくは冷却中に炭化物として微細に析出する。そのため、Ti比率Rtiが50%未満となる。
 加熱温度Tfが1000~1100℃であれば、V析出物は適切に溶解し、Ti析出物は加熱中に凝集及び成長して粗大化する。後述の熱間圧延工程の条件も満たせば、圧延後のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材において、V比率Rvが70%以下になり、Ti比率Rtiが50%以上になる。
 [熱間圧延工程]
 連続圧延機を用いて、加熱後のビレットを熱間圧延し、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を製造する。
 連続圧延機は、複数のロール群を備える。ロール群は、圧延軸(パスライン)まわりに配置される一対のロール、又は、3以上のロールを含む。圧延軸とは、圧延されるビレットが通るラインを意味する。複数のロール群は一列に配列される。各ロール群は、対応するスタンドに収納される。
 熱間圧延工程において、圧延速度Vrは5~20m/秒である。圧延速度Vrは次のとおり定義される。連続圧延機の複数のロール群のうち、ビレットの先端が、先頭のロール群で圧延されてから、圧延に使用する末尾のロール群に圧延されるまでの時間t0(秒)を測定する。時間t0は、先頭のロールに掛かる荷重と、末尾のロールに掛かる荷重とを確認することにより、測定できる。時間t0を用いて、式(4)により圧延速度Vr(m/秒)を求める。

 要するに、圧延速度Vrは熱間圧延全体での圧延速度を意味する。圧延速度Vrが遅すぎれば、熱間圧延による加工発熱が発生しにくい。そのため、圧延中、被圧延材の温度が低下する。この場合、圧延中にTi析出物が凝集及び成長しにくい。その結果、Ti比率Rtiが50%未満になる。
 一方、圧延速度Vrが速すぎれば、圧延中の被圧延材において、過剰な加工発熱が発生しやすい。この場合、圧延中に析出するV炭化物が、粗大化する。そのため、粗大なV析出物が多く生成する。その結果、V比率Rvが70%を超える。
 さらに、減面率が50~70%となる圧延中の被圧延材に対して、1~3秒水冷する。減面率は次のとおり定義される。熱間圧延工程において、素材となるビレットの横断面積(ビレットの中心軸に対して垂直な断面の面積)A0(mm)を求める。次に、連続圧延機において、任意のロール群を通過した後の被圧延材の横断面積A1(mm)を求める。横断面積A1は、任意のロール群の孔型から計算可能である。任意のロール群まで被圧延材を実際に圧延して、横断面積A1を求めてもよい。
 A0及びA1を用いて、式(5)により減面率(%)を求める。
 減面率=(A0-A1)/A0×100 (5)
 減面率が50~70%となる地点で、圧延中の被圧延材に対して1~3秒水冷を実施する。例えば、減面率が50~70%となるロール群の間(スタンドとスタンドとの間)に、水冷設備(水冷帯)を設ける。そして、水冷設備内を通過する被圧延材を水冷する。水冷時の水量は100~300リットル/秒である。
 水冷時間twが短すぎれば、加工発熱により被圧延材の温度が高くなりすぎる。この場合、圧延中に析出するV炭化物が、粗大化する。そのため、粗大なV析出物が多く生成する。その結果、V比率Rvが70%を超える。
 一方、水冷時間twが長すぎれば、被圧延材の温度が低くなりすぎる。この場合、圧延中にTi析出物が凝集及び成長せず、粗大化しにくい。その結果、Ti比率Rtiが50%未満になる。
 加熱温度Tf、圧延速度Vr、及び、水冷時間twが上記範囲内であれば、圧延後の鋼材において、V比率Rvが70%以下になり、Ti比率Rtiが50%以上になる。
 [コンロッド製造工程]
 クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を用いたクラッキングコンロッドの製造方法の一例を説明する。初めに、鋼材を加熱炉で加熱する。そして、加熱された鋼材に対して、熱間鍛造を実施してクラッキングコンロッドを製造する。好ましくは、熱間鍛造時の加工度は0.22以上である。ここで、加工度は、鍛造工程において、バリを除く部分に生じる対数ひずみの最大値とする。
 熱間鍛造後のクラッキングコンロッドを、常温になるまで放冷する。冷却後のクラッキングコンロッドに対して、必要に応じて機械加工を実施する。以上の工程により、クラッキングコンロッドが製造される。
 本実施形態のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を用いた場合、熱間鍛造時の加熱温度が1000~1280℃の範囲内であれば、製造されたクラッキングコンロッドは、優れたクラッキング性、優れた被削性、及び、優れた降伏強度を有する。
 表1に示す化学組成を有する溶鋼を製造した。

 表1を参照して、鋼A~Qの化学組成は適切であり、式(1)で定義されるfn1も00.65~0.80の範囲内であった。一方、鋼R~ABについては、化学組成内のいずれかの元素含有量又はfn1が不適切であった。鋼ABの化学組成は、特許文献1に記載の鋼の化学組成の範囲内であった。
 鋼A及びBを70ton転炉で製造し、鋼C~ABを3ton試作炉にてそれぞれ製造した。製造された溶鋼を用いてブルーム又はインゴットを製造した。製造されたブルーム又はインゴットを分解圧延してビレットを製造した。分塊圧延の際の鋼材の加熱温度は1100℃であった。ビレットの横断面(ビレットの軸方向に垂直な断面)は180mm×180mmの矩形であった。各試験番号で使用したビレットの鋼種は、表2中の「素材」欄に示すとおりであった。
 連続圧延機を用いてビレットを熱間圧延して、試験番号1~42のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材を製造した。このとき、加熱温度Tf、圧延速度Vr、及び、水冷時間twは表2に示すとおりであった。水冷は、減面率が65%となった被圧延材(ビレット)に対して実施した。水量は200リットル/秒であった。

 各試験番号のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材はいずれも、35mmの直径を有する丸棒であった。
 [V比率Rv及びTi比率Rti測定試験]
 上述の測定方法に基づいて、各試験番号のVm(%)、Vp(%)、Tim(%)及びTip(%)を求めた。さらに、式(2)及び式(3)を用いて、V比率Rv及びTi比率Rtiを求めた。得られたV比率Rv及びTi比率Rtiを表2に示す。
 [模擬鍛造品の製造]
 試験番号1~41の丸棒の各々から複数の小型丸棒試験片と複数の大型丸棒試験片とを採取した。小型丸棒試験片の直径は22mmであり、長さは50mmであった。小型丸棒試験片の中心軸は、対応する35mmの直径を有する試験番号の丸棒の中心軸と一致した。大型丸棒試験片の直径は32mmであり、長さは50mmであった。大型丸棒試験片の中心軸は、対応する35mmの直径を有する試験番号の丸棒の中心軸と一致した。
 各小型丸棒試験片を加熱して、1000℃で5分間保持した。その後、前方押出加工を実施して、20mmの直径を有する丸棒を製造した。加工後の丸棒を大気放冷した。前方押出加工での減面率は20%であった。以下、小型丸棒試験片から製造された丸棒を「低温模擬鍛造品」という。
 各大型丸棒試験片を加熱して、1280℃で5分間保持した。その後、前方押出加工を実施して、20mmの直径を有する丸棒を製造した。加工後の丸棒を大気放冷した。前方押出加工での減面率は60%であった。以下、大型丸棒試験片から製造された丸棒を「高温模擬鍛造品」という。
 [基準鍛造品の製作]
 試験番号42の丸棒から、複数の大型丸棒試験片を採取した。大型丸棒試験片を加熱して、1250℃で5分間保持した。その後、前方押出加工を実施して、20mmの直径を有する丸棒を製造した。以下、試験番号42の模擬鍛造品を、「基準品」という。
 [ミクロ組織観察試験]
 各試験番号の低温模擬鍛造品、高温模擬鍛造品及び基準品を用いて、ミクロ組織観察試験を実施した。具体的には、各鍛造品(低温模擬鍛造品、高温模擬鍛造品、基準品)の横断面のうち、R/2部を含むサンプルを採取した。サンプルのうち、R/2部を含む横断面に相当する表面(以下、観察面という)を研磨し、ナイタル腐食液で腐食した。腐食後、400倍の光学顕微鏡で、観察面のミクロ組織を観察した。
 [クラッキング性評価試験]
 各鍛造品に対してシャルピー衝撃試験を実施して、クラッキング性を評価した。具体的には、各鍛造品の中央部から、JIS Z 2202(2012)に記載のVノッチ試験片(4号試験片)を採取した。この試験片を用いて、大気中の室温(25℃)でシャルピー衝撃試験を実施し、衝撃値(J/cm)を求めた。衝撃値が10J/cm以下である場合、クラッキング性に優れると評価した。
 [降伏強度及び引張強度評価試験]
 各鍛造品のR/2部から、JIS 14A号試験片を採取した。採取された試験片を用いて、大気中の室温(25℃)で引張試験を実施して、降伏強度YS(MPa)及び引張強度TS(MPa)を求めた。
 各試験番号1~41の降伏強度YS(MPa)の、基準品の降伏強度YS(MPa)に対する比Rys(単位は%、以下、降伏強度比という)を求めた。さらに、各試験番号1~41の引張強度TS(MPa)の、基準品の引張強度TS(MPa)に対する比Rts(単位は%、以下、引張強度比という)を求めた。
 降伏強度比Rysが110%以上であれば、降伏強度に優れると評価した。さらに、引張強度比Rtsが100%以下であれば、被削性に優れると評価した。
 [試験結果]
 試験結果を表3に示す。表3中の「ミクロ組織」欄中の「F」は、フェライトが観察されたことを意味する。「P」は、パーライトが観察されたことを意味する。「B」は、ベイナイトが観察されたことを意味する。

 表3を参照して、試験番号1~19の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も適切であった。さらに、V比率Rv及びTi比率Rtiも適切であった。さらに、ミクロ組織はフェライト及びパーライトからなり、ベイナイトは観察されなかった。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品、高温模擬鍛造品共に、シャルピー衝撃値は10J/cm以下であり、降伏強度比Rysは110%以上であり、引張強度比Rtsは100%以下であった。
 一方、試験番号20及び28の鋼のV含有量は低すぎた。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品の降伏強度比Rysはいずれも、110%未満であった。
 試験番号21及び24の鋼の各元素含有量は適切であったものの、fn1が0.65未満であった。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品の降伏強度比Rysはいずれも、110%未満であった。
 試験番号22及び25の各元素含有量は適切であったものの、fn1が0.80を超えていた。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品の引張強度比Rtsはいずれも、100%を超えていた。
 試験番号23及び27の鋼のTi含有量は低すぎた。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品のシャルピー衝撃値は10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。
 試験番号26のC含有量は高すぎた。そのため、低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品の引張強度比Rtsは100%を超え、被削性が低かった。
 試験番号29のMo含有量は高すぎた。そのため、ミクロ組織において、ベイナイトが確認された。さらに、フェライト及びパーライトはごく僅かに観察された。試験番号29の低温模擬鍛造品及び高温模擬鍛造品のシャルピー衝撃は10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。
 試験番号30及び36の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、加熱温度Tfが低すぎた。そのため、V比率Rvが高すぎ、Ti比率Rtiが低すぎた。その結果、低温模擬鍛造品において、降伏強度比Rysが低すぎた。さらに、高温模擬鍛造品のミクロ組織にはベイナイトが観察された。そのため、シャルピー衝撃値が10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。さらに、引張強度比Rtsが100%を超え、被削性が低かった。
 試験番号31及び37の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、水冷時間twが短すぎた。そのため、V比率Rvが高すぎた。その結果、低温鍛造品の降伏強度比Rysが低かった。
 試験番号32及び38の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、水冷時間twが長すぎた。そのため、Ti比率Rtiが低すぎた。さらに、高温模擬鍛造品のミクロ組織にはベイナイトが観察された。そのため、シャルピー衝撃値が10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。さらに、引張強度比Rtsが100%を超え、被削性が低かった。
 試験番号33及び39の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、圧延速度Vrが遅すぎた。そのため、Ti比率Rtiが低すぎた。さらに、高温模擬鍛造品のミクロ組織にはベイナイトが観察された。そのため、シャルピー衝撃値が10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。さらに、引張強度比Rtsが100%を超え、被削性が低かった。
 試験番号34及び40の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、圧延速度Vrが速すぎた。そのため、V比率Rvが高すぎた。その結果、低温鍛造品の降伏強度比Rysが低かった。
 試験番号35及び41の化学組成は適切であり、fn1値も0.65~0.80の範囲内であった。しかしながら、加熱温度Tfが高すぎた。そのため、Ti比率Rtiが低すぎた。その結果、低温模擬鍛造品において、降伏強度比Rysが低すぎた。さらに、高温模擬鍛造品のミクロ組織にはベイナイトが観察された。そのため、シャルピー衝撃値が10J/cmを超え、クラッキング性が低かった。
 以上、本発明の実施の形態を説明した。しかしながら、上述した実施の形態は本発明を実施するための例示に過ぎない。したがって、本発明は上述した実施の形態に限定されることなく、その趣旨を逸脱しない範囲内で上述した実施の形態を適宜変更して実施することができる。

     質量%で、
     C:0.30~0.40%、
     Si:0.60~1.00%、
     Mn:0.50~1.00%、
     P:0.04~0.07%、
     S:0.04~0.13%、
     Cr:0.10~0.30%、
     V:0.05~0.14%、
     Ti:0.15%を超えて0.20%以下、
     N:0.002~0.020%、
     Cu:0~0.40%、
     Ni:0~0.30%、
     Mo:0~0.10%、
     Pb:0~0.30%、
     Te:0~0.30%、
     Ca:0~0.010%、及び、
     Bi:0~0.30%を含有し、残部がFeおよび不純物からなり、式(1)で定義されるfn1が0.65~0.80となる化学組成を有し、
     前記クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のV含有量に対する、200nm以上の粒子径を有する粗大析出物中のV含有量の比率が70%以下であり、
     前記クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材中のTi含有量に対する、前記粗大析出物中のTi含有量の比率が50%以上である、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材。

     前記化学組成は、
     Cu:0.01~0.40%、
     Ni:0.01~0.30%、及び、
     Mo:0.01~0.10%からなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有する、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材。
  3.  請求項1又は請求項2に記載のクラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材であって、
     前記化学組成は、
     Pb:0.05~0.30%、
     Te:0.0003~0.30%、
     Ca:0.0003~0.010%、及び、
     Bi:0.0003~0.30%からなる群から選択される1種又は2種以上を含有する、クラッキングコンロッド用圧延鋼材。
