Abstract
Description
ここで、清澄とは、ガラス溶融物に残存する気泡を除去し、均一化する操作であり、製造されるガラス板の品質を向上させるために実施される。この清澄手段としては、内部が所定の減圧度に保持された減圧脱泡槽を用いる方法が知られている。減圧脱泡槽内は連続的に流れるガラス溶融物中の気泡を大きく成長させて、その浮力を利用してガラス溶融物中を浮上させ、ガラス溶融物の表面で破泡させて除去する。特許文献1にはこのような減圧脱泡装置の一構成例が示されている。図6は、特許文献1における減圧脱泡装置の概略断面図である。
特許文献1では、減圧脱泡装置1を構成する、減圧脱泡槽12、上昇管13および下降管14が白金合金(白金-ロジウム合金)で構成されている。一方で、これらの構成要素を、白金合金等の貴金属よりも安価な耐火性炉材(一例をあげると電鋳レンガ)で構成した場合、これらの構成要素の大型化、例えば、これらの直径の大径化が可能であるため、大流量の減圧脱泡装置を構築できる。
減圧喪失事象により、減圧脱泡槽12内部からガラス溶融物Gが落下すると、上流側ピット3、下流側ピット4のガラス溶融物Gの液面が上昇する。ガラス溶融物Gの液面の上昇を解消するため、上流側ピット3内のガラス溶融物Gは、上流側、すなわち、溶解槽2の方向に移動する。一方、下流側ピット4内のガラス溶融物Gは、下流側、すなわち、次の処理槽(図示せず)の方向に移動する。
下流側ピット4から下流側へのガラス溶融物Gの移動については、過剰なガラス溶融物Gを排出するためのドレンアウト機構が、次の処理槽(図示せず)に設けられているため、通常は問題となることはない。しかしながら、下流側ピット等にドレンアウト機構を設けない場合、又は大流量の減圧脱泡装置を構築するため、減圧脱泡槽12を大型化した場合、減圧喪失事象発生時に、減圧脱泡槽12内部から落下するガラス溶融物Gが増加する。このため、次の処理槽(図示せず)に設けられたドレンアウト機構の処理能力を上回り、ガラス溶融物Gがオーバーフローするおそれがある。次の処理槽(図示せず)でのガラス溶融物Gのオーバーフローの発生は、ガラス物品製造設備の運転停止につながるため、回避する必要がある。
前記減圧脱泡装置が、前記溶解槽からのガラス溶融物が上昇する上昇管、減圧脱泡槽、および前記減圧脱泡槽からのガラス溶融物が下降する下降管を有しており、
前記第1の導管構造が、前記上昇管にガラス溶融物を供給する上流側ピットを有しており、
前記第2の導管構造が、前記下降管からのガラス溶融物を収容する下流側ピットを有しており、
さらに、前記上流側ピットと前記下流側ピットとを接続する第3の導管構造を有しており、
該第3の導管構造には、前記第3の導管構造におけるガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段;および前記第3の導管構造または前記閉止手段には、当該閉止手段の近傍における前記第3の導管構造内のガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過可能となる非常時ガラス溶融物流路;が設けられていることを特徴とするガラス溶融物製造装置を提供する。
本発明の一態様のガラス溶融物製造装置において、前記減圧脱泡槽は、配管を介して真空ポンプを用いて減圧されるようになっており、前記真空ポンプと前記減圧脱泡槽との間に位置する配管に、真空ポンプの駆動によって真空に保持されるタンクが設けられるとともに、該タンクと前記減圧脱泡槽との間に位置する配管に、遮蔽弁が設けられていることが好ましい。
前記減圧脱泡装置が、前記溶解槽からのガラス溶融物が上昇する上昇管、減圧脱泡槽、および前記減圧脱泡槽からのガラス溶融物が下降する下降管を有しており、
前記第1の導管構造が、前記上昇管にガラス溶融物を供給する上流側ピットを有しており、
前記第2の導管構造が、前記下降管からのガラス溶融物を収容する下流側ピットを有しており、
さらに、前記上流側ピットと前記下流側ピットとを接続する第3の導管構造を有しており、
該第3の導管構造には、前記第3の導管構造におけるガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段;および前記第3の導管構造または前記閉止手段には、当該閉止手段の近傍における前記第3の導管構造内のガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過可能となる非常時ガラス溶融物流路;が設けられているガラス溶融物製造装置を用いたガラス溶融物製造方法であって、
ガラス溶融物製造過程において、前記減圧脱泡槽の減圧度が低下して該減圧脱泡槽中のガラス溶融物が前記上昇管および前記下降管を通じて落下した場合に、前記下降管から落下した前記ガラス溶融物を前記第3の導管構造に誘導し、前記下流側ピットから該下流側ピットよりさらへの下流側への前記ガラス溶融物の移動を抑制する流量制御がなされることを特徴とするガラス溶融物製造方法を提供する。
また、本発明一態様においては、本発明のガラス溶融物の製造方法によりガラス溶融物を製造する工程と、該ガラス溶融物を成形し成形体を得る工程と、前記成形体を徐冷しガラス物品を得る工程と、を含むガラス物品製造方法を提供する。
本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置では、複雑な機構を使用することなく、第3の導管構造へのガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段近傍におけるガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じて、第3の導管構造にガラス溶融物を誘導するための非常時ガラス溶融物流路が通過可能となる。
図1に示す減圧脱泡装置300は、金属製、例えばステンレス鋼製であって、使用時その内部が減圧状態に保持される減圧ハウジング310を有する。減圧ハウジング310には、図中右上部に真空吸引して内部を減圧する吸引口311が設けられている。
上昇管330は、下端が第1の導管構造200の下流端に設けられた上流側ピット210のガラス溶融物G内に浸漬されており、脱泡処理前のガラス溶融物Gを上流側ピット210から吸引上昇させて減圧脱泡槽320内に導入する。下降管340は、下端が第2の導管構造400の上流端に設けられた下流側ピット410のガラス溶融物G内に浸漬されており、脱泡処理後のガラス溶融物Gを減圧脱泡槽320から下降させて下流側ピット410に導出する。
図示した減圧脱泡装置300では、上昇管330および下降管340の下端(下流端)に、それぞれ延長管350,360が取り付けられている。延長管350,360は、白金製または白金合金製の中空円筒管であり、これら延長管350,360が、それぞれ上流側ピット210内のガラス溶融物G、および、下流側ピット410内のガラス溶融物Gに浸漬されている。但し、本発明における減圧脱泡装置において、上昇管、下降管の下端に取り付けた延長管は、任意の構成要素であり、耐火性炉材で構成された上昇管、下降管が、それぞれ、上流側ピット内のガラス溶融物、下流側ピット内のガラス溶融物Gに浸漬される構成であってもよい。
また、上昇管および下降管自体を、白金製または白金合金製の中空円筒管で構成してもよい。白金製または白金合金製の中空円筒管を大径化して、大流量の減圧脱泡装置を構築できる場合は、本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置を用いないと、減圧喪失事象発生時におけるガラス溶融物Gのオーバーフローのおそれがある。
図1に示す減圧脱泡装置300では、第3の導管構造500に2つの閉止手段510,520が設けられているが、第3の導管構造に設ける閉止手段の数は、これに限定されない。例えば、第3の導管構造の長さが短い場合、第3の導管構造の中間になる位置に1つの閉止手段を設けてもよい。
また、閉止手段を設ける位置は、第3の導管構造500におけるガラス溶融物Gの流通を遮断可能な位置であればよく、図示した部位以外の部位でもよい。例えば、第3の導管構造500のより上流側や下流側に閉止手段を設けてもよい。
なお、閉止手段510,520の具体的な構造については後述する。
このため、第3の導管構造500のうち、図1に示す閉止手段520の近傍には、該閉止手段520近傍における第3の導管構造500内のガラス溶融物Gの液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物Gが通過可能となる非常時ガラス溶融物流路540が設けられている。該非常時ガラス溶融物流路540は、減圧脱泡槽320の下降管34から下流側ピット410に落下したガラス溶融物Gを、第3の導管構造500を介して上流側ピット210に誘導する手段である。
図2,3では、第3の導管構造500のうち、閉止手段510が設けられた部位を示しているが、第3の導管構造500のうち、閉止手段520が設けられた部位も同様の構造である。
図2,3に示すように、閉止手段510は、板状体であり、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501に上方から挿入されている。
図2に示すように、閉止手段510の上部には、操作部511が設けられており、閉止手段510を第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501に挿入する操作、および、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501から閉止手段510を引き抜く操作の際に用いられる。第3の導管構造500の上部には、閉止手段500を挿入するための開口部(図示せず)が存在している。なお、閉止手段510をなす板状体は、第3の導管構造500のガラス溶融物Gの流路に挿入されるため、耐火性炉材で構成されている。閉止手段510は、水冷などの冷却構造を付加することにより、耐火性金属で構成することもできる。
減圧脱泡装置300の通常運転時には、操作部511を操作して、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501に、閉止手段510を上方(矢印方向)から挿入することで、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501が閉止される。これにより、第3の導管構造500におけるガラス溶融物Gの流通が遮断される。
閉止手段510により、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501を閉止するため、閉止手段510を構成する板状体は、その平面形状が、図2に示すように、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501の断面形状と略同一であることが好ましい。なお、図2に示すように、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501に閉止手段510を挿入した際、閉止手段510と、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501の底部壁面および側部壁面と、の間には隙間が存在しているが、この隙間は、十分狭いため、この隙間を通過する過程でガラス溶融物Gが固化する。その結果、第3の導管構造500の第1のガラス溶融物流路501におけるガラス溶融物Gの流通が遮断される。
図4において、閉止手段510´は、板状体であり、その平面形状が第3の導管構造500´の第1のガラス溶融物流路501の断面形状と略同一である点は、図2,3に示した閉止手段510と同様である。但し、第3の導管構造500´は、第1のガラス溶融物流路501´のみを有しており、閉止手段510´をなす板状体が開口部530´を有している点で、図2,3に示した閉止手段510とは異なる。
図4において、閉止手段510´近傍における第3の導管構造500´内のガラス溶融物Gの液面が上昇し、閉止手段510´近傍における第3の導管構造500´内のガラス溶融物Gの液面の高さが、閉止手段510´をなす板状体に設けられた開口部530´の底辺の高さを超えると、該開口部530´をガラス溶融物Gが流通可能になる。図4において、減圧脱泡装置300の通常運転時におけるガラス溶融物Gの液面の上限を破線で示した。一方、減圧脱泡装置300で減圧喪失事象が発生した際のガラス溶融物Gの液面を一点鎖線で示した。以上の点から明らかなように、図4において、閉止手段510´をなす板状体に設けられた開口部530´が非常時ガラス溶融物流路である。なお、図4において開口部530´が一つ設けられ、その形状は矩形である例を示したが、これには限定されない。非常時ガラス溶融物流路をなす開口部は、その底辺が、減圧脱泡装置300の通常運転時におけるガラス溶融物Gの液面よりも上方にあり、減圧脱泡装置300で減圧喪失事象が発生した際のガラス溶融物Gの液面よりも下方にあればよく、その形状、寸法、個数等は適宜選択することができる。
図4において、閉止手段510´の上部に操作部511´が設けられている点、閉止手段510´をなす板状体が耐火性炉材で構成されている点、減圧脱泡装置300の運転立ち上げの際や、減圧脱泡装置300の通常運転時における、閉止手段510´の操作手順については、図2,3に示した閉止手段510と同様である。
また、第3の導管構造500に誘導されたガラス溶融物Gのドレンアウトには、第3の導管構造500の側面や底部に設けられた、手動で操作するタイプのドレンアウト機構を用いることもできる。このドレンアウト機構は、非使用時には、第3の導管構造500の側面や底部に設けられた開口部が施栓された状態になっており、使用時には、栓を取り外して、ガラス溶融物Gをドレンアウトする。
第3の導管構造500において、ドレンアウト機構を設ける位置や、設けるドレンアウト機構の数は特に限定されず、必要に応じて適宜選択することができる。例えば、閉止手段510と閉止手段520との間にドレンアウト機構を設けてもよく、閉止手段510よりも上流側にドレンアウト機構を設けてもよく、閉止手段520よりも下流側にドレンアウト機構を設けてもよい。
本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置は、さらに減圧喪失事象による影響を抑制するための機構を有していることが好ましい。減圧喪失事象による影響を抑制するための機構としては、例えば、以下の機構がある。
また、真空ポンプと減圧ハウジング310との間に位置する配管に、真空ポンプの駆動によって真空に保持されるタンクを設ければ、真空ポンプでトラブルが発生した場合に、このタンクを真空ポンプの代用とすることができ、減圧喪失事象による影響を抑制することができる。真空ポンプと減圧ハウジング310との間に位置する配管に、真空ポンプの駆動によって真空に保持されるタンクを設ける場合、このタンクと減圧ハウジング310との間に位置する配管に遮蔽弁を設けることが好ましい。
本発明のガラス溶融物製造方法は、上述した本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置を用いる。
本発明のガラス溶融物製造方法では、減圧脱泡槽320の内部が所定の減圧度に保持された状態で、溶解槽100から第1の導管構造200を介して上流側ピット210に流入したガラス溶融物Gが、上昇管330内を吸引上昇されて減圧脱泡槽320内に導入される。減圧脱泡槽320内ではガラス溶融物Gが脱泡処理される。脱泡処理後のガラス溶融物Gは、下降管340を下降して下流側ピット410に導出される。このようにして、気泡の少ない高品質のガラス溶融物Gが得られる。
真空ポンプのトラブル等により減圧喪失事象が発生し、減圧脱泡槽320中のガラス溶融物Gが下降管340を通じて下流側ピット410に落下した場合、第3の導管構造500の閉止手段520の近傍または閉止手段に設けられた非常時ガラス溶融物流路540によって、下流側ピット410に落下したガラス溶融物Gを第3の導管構造500に誘導する。例えば、前記非常時ガラス溶融物流路を流れるガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過するようにすることにより、前記ガラス溶融物の移動を抑制することができる。これにより、下流側ピット410からさらなる下流側へのガラス溶融物Gの移動を抑制する流量制御がなされる。
溶融物の生産量としては、100~1000トン/日であることが好ましく、ガラス品種を変えること、付帯設備などを考慮すると、300~800トン/日であることがより好ましく、350~700トン/日であることがさらに好ましい。
本発明のガラス物品製造装置は、上述した本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置と、ガラス溶融物を成形して成形体を得る成形手段と、成形後のガラスを徐冷してガラス物品を得る徐冷手段と、を有する。なお、成形手段、徐冷手段については公知技術の範囲である。例えば、成形手段としては、フロート法、フュージョン法、スロットダウン法、ロール成形法、ロールアウト法、引き上げ法またはダウンドロー法などによる装置が挙げられる。これらの中でもフロート法のためのフロートバスを用いた成形手段が、薄板ガラスから厚板ガラスまでの広範囲の厚さの高品質な板ガラスを大量に製造できる理由から好ましい。徐冷手段としては、例えば、成形後のガラスの搬送機構としての搬送ロールと、成形後のガラスの温度を徐々に下げるための機構を備えた徐冷炉が一般的に用いられる。徐々に温度を下げる機構は、燃焼ガスまたは電気ヒータにより、その出力が制御された熱量を、炉内の必要位置に供給して成形後のガラスをゆっくり冷却する(すなわち、徐冷する)。これによって、成形後のガラスに内在する残留応力をなくすことができる。
図5は、本発明のガラス物品の製造方法の1実施形態の流れ図である。図5では、本発明のガラス物品の製造方法の構成要素であるガラス溶融物製造工程および成形工程ならびに徐冷工程に加えて、さらに必要に応じて用いる切断工程、その他後工程が示されている。例えば、ガラス物品としてガラス板を製造する場合は、ガラス溶融物を成形工程でガラスリボンに成形し、切断工程で所望の大きさに切断した後、必要に応じてガラス端部を研磨するなどの後工程を実施してガラス板を得る。
また、本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置及びガラス溶融物製造方法によれば、複雑な機構を使用することなく、第3の導管構造へのガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段近傍におけるガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じて、第3の導管構造にガラス溶融物を誘導するための非常時ガラス溶融物流路が通過可能となる。
また、本発明のガラス溶融物製造装置、ガラス溶融物製造方法、ガラス物品製造装置およびガラス物品製造方法は、建築用ガラス、車両用ガラス、光学用ガラス、医療用ガラス、表示装置用ガラス、その他一般のガラス物品の製造に広く適用することができる。

Claims (11)
- 溶解槽;減圧脱泡装置;前記溶解槽と前記減圧脱泡装置とを接続する第1の導管構造;および前記減圧脱泡装置の下流に設けられた、ガラス溶融物を成形手段に導く第2の導管構造;を有するガラス溶融物製造装置であって、
前記減圧脱泡装置が、前記溶解槽からのガラス溶融物が上昇する上昇管、減圧脱泡槽、および前記減圧脱泡槽からのガラス溶融物が下降する下降管を有しており、
前記第1の導管構造が、前記上昇管にガラス溶融物を供給する上流側ピットを有しており、
前記第2の導管構造が、前記下降管からのガラス溶融物を収容する下流側ピットを有しており、
さらに、前記上流側ピットと前記下流側ピットとを接続する第3の導管構造を有しており、
該第3の導管構造には、前記第3の導管構造におけるガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段;および前記第3の導管構造または前記閉止手段には、当該閉止手段の近傍における前記第3の導管構造内のガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過可能となる非常時ガラス溶融物流路;が設けられていることを特徴とするガラス溶融物製造装置。 - 前記上昇管、前記減圧脱泡槽、および、前記下降管のガラス溶融物の流路が、耐火性炉材で構成されている、請求項1に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 前記第3の導管構造は、ガラス溶融物の流動方向における一部が、互いに底面の高さが異なる、第1のガラス溶融物流路、および、第2のガラス溶融物流路を有する段差構造をなしており、前記閉止手段は、前記第3の導管構造の前記第1のガラス溶融物流路に挿抜自在な板状体であり、該板状体の平面形状が、前記第1のガラス溶融物流路の断面形状と略同一であり、前記第2のガラス溶融物流路が前記非常時ガラス溶融物流路をなす、請求項1または2に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 前記閉止手段は、前記第3の導管構造のガラス溶融物の流路に挿抜自在な板状体であり、該板状体の平面形状が、前記第1のガラス溶融物流路の断面形状と略同一であり、前記板状体には開口部が設けられており、該開口部が前記非常時ガラス溶融物流路をなす、請求項1または2に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 前記第3の導管構造内のガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じて機能する、前記第3の導管構造に設けられたドレンアウト機構をさらに有する、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 前記減圧脱泡槽は、配管を介して真空ポンプを用いて減圧されるようになっており、前記真空ポンプと前記減圧脱泡槽との間に位置する配管に遮蔽弁が設けられている、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 前記減圧脱泡槽は、配管を介して真空ポンプを用いて減圧されるようになっており、前記真空ポンプと前記減圧脱泡槽との間に位置する配管に、真空ポンプの駆動によって真空に保持されるタンクが設けられるとともに、該タンクと前記減圧脱泡槽との間に位置する配管に、遮蔽弁が設けられている、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置。
- 請求項1~7のいずれか一項に記載のガラス溶融物製造装置と、ガラス溶融物を成形して成形体を得る成形手段と、成形体を徐冷してガラス物品を得る徐冷手段と、を有するガラス物品製造装置。
- 溶解槽;減圧脱泡装置;前記溶解槽と前記減圧脱泡装置とを接続する第1の導管構造;および前記減圧脱泡装置の下流に設けられた、ガラス溶融物を成形手段に導く第2の導管構造;を有し、
前記減圧脱泡装置が、前記溶解槽からのガラス溶融物が上昇する上昇管、減圧脱泡槽、および前記減圧脱泡槽からのガラス溶融物が下降する下降管を有しており、
前記第1の導管構造が、前記上昇管にガラス溶融物を供給する上流側ピットを有しており、
前記第2の導管構造が、前記下降管からのガラス溶融物を収容する下流側ピットを有しており、
さらに、前記上流側ピットと前記下流側ピットとを接続する第3の導管構造を有しており、
該第3の導管構造には、前記第3の導管構造におけるガラス溶融物の流通を遮断する閉止手段;および前記第3の導管構造または前記閉止手段には、当該閉止手段の近傍における前記第3の導管構造内のガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過可能となる非常時ガラス溶融物流路;が設けられているガラス溶融物製造装置を用いたガラス溶融物製造方法であって、
ガラス溶融物製造過程において、前記減圧脱泡槽の減圧度が低下して該減圧脱泡槽中のガラス溶融物が前記上昇管および前記下降管を通じて落下した場合に、前記下降管から落下した前記ガラス溶融物を前記第3の導管構造に誘導し、前記下流側ピットから該下流側ピットよりさらへの下流側への前記ガラス溶融物の移動を抑制する流量制御がなされることを特徴とするガラス溶融物製造方法。 - 前記非常時ガラス溶融物流路をガラス溶融物の液面の高さに応じてガラス溶融物が通過することにより、前記ガラス溶融物の移動を抑制する請求項9に記載のガラス溶融物製造方法。
- 請求項9または10に記載のガラス溶融物の製造方法によりガラス溶融物を製造する工程と、該ガラス溶融物を成形し成形体を得る工程と、前記成形体を徐冷しガラス物品を得る工程と、を含むガラス物品製造方法。
