Abstract

Die Erfindung richtet sich auf einen Tintenstrahldrucker sowie auf ein Verfahren zum Betrieb eines Tintenstrahldruckers, wobei für wenigstens eine Farbe mindestens zwei Tinten mit gleicher Farbe, aber unterschiedlicher Farbintensität verwendet werden, nämlich eine Tinte mit einer hellen Farbintensität Jh und eine Tinte mit einer dunklen Farbintensiät Jd, wobei vorzugsweise gilt: Jd = 2X * Jh mit x beispielsweise 2, 3 oder 4 sein kann. 2X ist in diesen Fällen dann 22 = 4, oder 23 = 8, oder 24 = 16; wobei auf einen Bildpunkt mehrere Tintentropfen in schneller Folge übereinander gedruckt werden, nämlich 0... (2X - 1 ) Tintentropfen, so dass mit der dunkleren Tinte 2X Helligkeitsstufen erzielt werden können, und mit der helleren Tinte ebenfalls 2X Helligkeitsstufen, woraus sich insgesamt 2X * 2X = 22x verschiedene Helligkeitsstufen ergeben; wobei sich die einzelnen Tintentropfen während ihres Fluges vereinigen oder nicht voneinander lösen und auf dem Drucksubstrat nur einen einzigen Farbtropfen pro Bildpunkt ergeben.
