Definitions
- the object of the present utility model is a device that, in case of being suspended from a harness, allows to release the pressure suffered by the legs of the injured person through the harness fixing straps that acts with tourniquet effect.
- the use of the harness has been generalized as a security system in different areas of the labor world, such as construction, tree pruning, the wind sector and, in general, any work that is performed at height and that carries the risk of suffering any type of fall. Although its use is becoming widespread, unfortunately, deaths due to falls are still one of the main causes of death in the workplace. In general, the reasons for these deaths are varied, but they correspond to an inadequate, badly used or directly non-existent material.
- the standard safety device for work at height is the harness.
- the fall of a subject by a harness and subsequent arrest may not be the most dangerous part of the accident.
- the anchoring systems and the harness itself have resisted, the injured person remains in the most dangerous phase, which is the suspension phase, which, if it lasts for a long time and the rescue becomes more complicated, can It is very dangerous, especially if the victim is unconscious or unable to move during the duration of the suspension.
- Suspension trauma also known as harness syndrome or orthostatic syndrome, is a set of symptoms that appear when a person is hanging for a brief period of a harness and there is a combination of two factors: immobility and suspension.
- Immobility can occur both in people who are unconscious, as in people who reach exhaustion, which ends up causing the person to be suspended for a period of time that the longer it lasts, the more damage it will cause in the victim.
- the suspension situation will produce an accumulation progressive blood in the legs due to a failure in the venous return, since the harness straps act as a tourniquet preventing, totally or partially, the passage of blood to the heart.
- This supposes a reduction of the sanguineous flow to other organs, like the cere
- the combination of the shock caused by the position in which the injured one is and the compression on the abdomen causes an important respiratory difficulty that leads to the victim who is suspended to death in a short period of time.
- the chances of survival when the suspension lasts more than two hours are scarce. It is important to remember that the death of the victim due to this cause may occur during the suspension or after the rescue.
- the most probable cause of the death of the rescue is the acute overload of the right ventricle of the heart due to a massive arrival of blood that is retained in the lower extremities by the tourniquet effect of the harness itself.
- the present invention describes a device for attenuating trauma by rescues in rescues and whose object is to facilitate the elimination of the factors that cause the aforementioned harness syndrome and that, if necessary, facilitate an adequate rescue position for the injured person.
- the device object of the invention is coupled to a harness in such a way that the deployment and installation is allowed in the connectors that support the weight of the accident victim after a fall.
- the device for attenuating trauma by suspension in rescues is characterized in that it comprises a base on which a plurality of belts, tapes, cables or the like are arranged, which are joined by means of fixings to the base; and wherein said tapes terminate in a connector that join the base with the point that supports the weight of the injured in the harness and handles located in said connectors and configured to release said connectors from their union with the base, releasing a support and allowing the injured can place this support as a seat that once tensioned enough to eliminate pressure on the legs of the injured.
- the actors will be able to deploy the system and place the wounded in a sitting or recollected position and in this way descend the wounded in a posture that avoids death by rescue.
- FIG 1. Shows a diagram of the device object of the invention.
- FIG 2. Shows a front view of the device of the invention arranged on the harness.
- FIG 3. Shows a rear view of the device object of the invention folded.
- FIG 4. Shows a view of the device object of the invention in use.
- the device (100) for attenuating the trauma by suspension in rescues, object of the invention comprises a base (1) that acts as a support in which the rest of the elements that are installed are installed. They form the device (100) and, in addition, houses a second base or support (1 ') that acts as a seat for the injured person, once it slides out from the base (1) .
- the base (1) is joined at the waist of a harness by means of fixings (2), in a particular embodiment sailboats.
- Figure 2 shows how the base (1) and the support (1 ') are related, which are joined by grooves that allow their separation by a lateral sliding movement of the support (1') with respect to the base (1).
- the device is completed with a plurality of belts, tapes, ropes or the like (3,31) which are joined by means of fixings (4,41) to the base (1).
- the tapes (3.31) end in a connector (5.51) that join the base (1) with the point that supports the weight of the victim.
- the connectors (5, 51) each incorporate a tensioner (6, 61) of the belts.
- the connectors (5,51) also comprise a handle (7,71) which is configured to deploy the rest of the elements comprised in the device (100) and which remain folded on the base (1), as shown in FIG. figure 3
- the affected person deploys a first belt (3) by operating a first puller (7) that activates a first connector (5).
- the injured person repeats the operation by activating a second handle (71) that activates a second connector (51).
- the injured person can detach the support (1 ') so that it is hanging from the point that bears the weight of the injured person and that, as indicated, corresponds to the points where they are located.
- the injured person places the support (1 ') under his buttocks to subsequently tighten the first belt (3) and the second belt (31) by means of a first tensioner (6) and a second tensioner (61) respectively until its weight is absorbed by the base (1) that now acts as a seat, thus releasing the pressure exerted by the harness on its legs.
- the tapes (3.31) have a sewn loop in which the injured person can rest his hands during the tensioning of the tapes.
