Definitions
- the present invention relates to an engine safety lock mechanism which is adapted to open the second engine lock safely and easily.
- Engine hood locks are used for connecting engine hood locks of the automobiles and commercial vehicles with the vehicle body.
- the said locks are manufactured as two steps in order to provide homologation and safety conditions.
- the primary lock is opened from inside the vehicle, the secondary lock is generally on the body of engine hood lock, it has the function of being opened manually.
- the first stage of the engine hood lock (Primary Lock) is opened via an opening handle on the glove box, and its second step (Secondary Lock) is opened manually from behind the engine hood after the primary lock is opened.
- Primary Lock Primary Lock
- Secondary Lock second step
- it is hard to find the secondary lock opening handle for the user in order to perform this function sometimes it causes discontent since it reaches a temperature that will cause displeasure due to heating of the engine.
- German Patent Document no DEI 9722503 an application known in the state of the art, discloses a bonnet lock arrangement which is opened via the trade mark.
- the said arrangement is comprised of a boot or bonnet, a lock cylinder, hand grip, a cover protecting the hand grip, trade mark of the vehicle and a recess.
- the objective of the present invention is to provide an engine safety lock mechanism wherein there is no requirement for searching for opening handle in order to open the secondary lock under the engine hood after opening the primary lock inside the cabin.
- Another objective of the present invention is to provide an engine safety lock mechanism which is opened by moving the trade mark logo on the bumper by cancelling the opening handle under the engine hood in order to open the secondary lock.
- Figure 1 is the perspective view of the engine safety lock mechanism.
- Figure 2 is the side view of the engine safety lock mechanism.
- Figure 3 is the perspective view of the engine lock and secondary lock wire.
- Figure 4 is the perspective view of the logo.
- Figure 5 is the perspective view of the logo and the hood lock together with the grid.
- Figure 6 is the rear view of the hood lock.
- Figure 7 is the perspective view of the hood lock, primary lock wire and the primary lock handle.
- An engine safety lock mechanism (1) which can be opened without causing trouble for the user by means of being user friendly, essentially comprises
- hood lock (2) which is located under the hood and which allows to intervene the engine compartment by allowing the hood to be opened
- at least one primary lock beak (3) which is located in the hood lock (2) and which is designed for opening safety of the hood
- At least one primary lock handle (5) which is located around the glove box and enables the primary lock beak (3) to be opened manually
- at least one primary lock wire (6) which is connected to the primary lock handle (5) and the hood lock (2) and enables the primary lock beak (3) to be opened when it is pulled
- At least one carrier (8) which is mounted to the bumper grid (I) and houses the logo (7),
- At least one spring (9) which enables the logo (7) to come to its initial position when it is rotated
- At least one secondary lock wire (10) which is located between the logo (7) and the hood lock (2) and enables the secondary lock beak (4) to be released from the hood lock (2) and thus enables the hood to be opened by means of being pulled via the logo (7).
- a hood lock (2) under the hood which is placed for preventing the hood from opening.
- the reason for that there is a secondary lock beak (4) in the hood lock (2) is to prevent the hood from opening by the secondary lock beak (4) in case the primary lock beak (3) is opened by accident.
- the primary lock beak (3) located in the hood lock (2) is connected to the primary lock handle (5) via the primary lock wire (6).
- the primary lock handle (5) is located in the inner part of the vehicle. When the user prefers to open the hood, they pull the primary lock handle (5) and thus stretch the primary lock wire (6). The primary lock wire (6) transfers this force to the hood lock (2) and thus the primary lock beak (3) opens and is released a little from the hood lock (2). In this case the hood moves upwards a little, however it is not completely released from the hood lock (2). Because the secondary lock beak (4) is still attached to the hood lock (2). The secondary lock beak (4) is connected to a holder located in the rear part of the logo (7) via the secondary lock wire (10). The logo (7) being rotated around its own axis is provided via the carrier (8).
- the force preventing the logo (7) from being rotated around its own axis is generated by the spring (9).
- the spring (9) always tries to bring the logo (7) to its initial position. For this reason, the logo (7) comes to its previous position after the user rotates the logo (7) and releases it.
- the secondary lock beak (4) is opened is as follows: The user comes in front of the vehicle after opening the primary lock beak (3) and applies a pressure preferably on upper part of the logo (7). With this process, the logo (7) rotates around its own axis so as to make a certain angle. After rotation, the user puts his hand under the logo (7) this time and applies an upwards force from the lower part of the logo (7). In this case, the secondary lock wire (10) connected to the logo (7) is stretched and transfer this stretching to the hood lock (2). After the force exceeds the force in opening direction of the secondary lock beak (4) inside the hood lock (2), the secondary lock beak (4) is released and allows the good to be opened. Furthermore, the logo (7) comes to its previous position by means of the spring (9) when the user releases the logo (7). Therefore the hood can come to fully poen position.
