Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft einen hydrodynamischen Retarder mit einem beschaufelten Rotor und einem beschaufelten Stator oder beschaufelten Gegenlaufrotor, die miteinander einen torusförmigen, mit einem Arbeitsmedium befüllbaren Arbeitsraum ausbilden und ein Arbeitsmediumvorratsvolumen (21), getrennt durch einen Arbeitsmediumspiegel (23), aufnimmt, und der über einen Vorlauf (7) an einem Arbeitsmediumeinlass (8) des Arbeitsraumes (9) zur Zufuhr von Arbeitsmedium aus dem Arbeitsmediumvorratsvolumen (21) in den Arbeitsraum (9) und über einen Rücklauf (10, 11, 16, 25) an einem Arbeitsmediumauslass (12, 13) des Arbeitsraumes (9) zur Aufnahme von aus dem Arbeitsraum (9) ausgeleitetem Arbeitsmedium in das Arbeitsmediumvorratsvolumen (21) angeschlossen ist; -mit einer Profilentlüftung, die über einen Kanal einerseits im Arbeitsraum und andererseits in der Umgebung oder einem mit Umgebungsdruck beaufschlagten Entlüftungsraum mündet; wobei -in der Profilentlüftung ein Ventil mit einem Ventilkörper und einem Ventilsitz vorgesehen ist, das die Profilentlüftung in Abhängigkeit seiner Beaufschlagung mit Arbeitsmedium verschließt. Die Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass zumindestan einer Stelle im Arbeitsmediumkreislauf (2) und/oder im Kanal (51) ein Raum (15, 30, 52) mit einem Volumen vorgesehen ist, das dazu geeignet ist Arbeitsmedium und Luft voneinander zu trennen.
