Definitions
- the present invention relates to a breast implant, in particular to a breast implant with anatomical morphology that has been specially designed and structured in order to eliminate the rotation problems that these implants present in the medium and long term.
- the invention is therefore in the field of prosthetic surgery, and more specifically in that of cosmetic breast surgery, such as breast augmentation and breast reconstruction after the removal of the mammary glands for any health problem or of another type
- Breast implants with anatomical morphology can be filled with silicone gel or physiological serum. Sometimes the filling is mixed, silicone gel and serum. The surface surrounding this fill, whatever it is, is called a cover.
- the cover is manufactured by adding layers of silicone and letting it dry. Each manufacturer has his way of making the cover, although the norm is that the final surface in these anatomical implants is textured. There are manufacturers who add a polyurethane cover to this texture. In cases where anatomical implants are used as expanders for the purpose of post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, these have a valve with a metal component on their front face that allows their location from the outside and serial filling by transcutaneous injections. .
- REPLACEMENT SHEET (RULE 26)
- the smooth anatomical implants are not commercialized since their surface would not be adherent and they would have displacements or rotations in all cases.
- the texture pore itself produces an adherent effect that prevents rotations in some cases but not all. The deeper the pore, the more aggressive the textured one, the more theoretical adherence it would have, but also more problems in the medium and long term such as late seroma and capsular contracture.
- the surgical technique that develops a completely customized dissection of the anatomical implants is the one that offers the least rotations in the short and medium term.
- REPLACEMENT SHEET (RULE 26) In cases of minor rotations, they are often tolerated because the deformity is minimal and patients prefer to accept a minimum deformity, and thus avoid reintervention.
- the breast implant that the invention proposes solves in a fully satisfactory way the problem previously stated, in the two aspects mentioned.
- the implant that is recommended, based on the classic structuring of a breast implant with anatomical morphology, focuses its characteristics on the incorporation of new structures to the implant cover, which serve as a mechanism for fixing said implant in its optimal position to the patient's body, using simple stitches, avoiding medium and long-term rotation.
- the aforementioned structures consist of strips of the same material as the cover, that is solid silicone, with the strength and elongation properties of the silicone with which the cover is made.
- the implant will preferably have four strips or fixation structures, two on its anterior face and two on its posterior face, with a length
- REPLACEMENT SHEET (RULE 26) Approximately 2 cm and a width between 6 and 8 mm.
- the implant incorporates a mark based on a radiopaque and biocompatible material, such as titanium, which is placed on the tactile mark available to conventional implants in the lower pole, which allows the position of the implant to be determined at any time by conventional radiology or by any other similar appropriate means.
- a radiopaque and biocompatible material such as titanium
- Figures 1 and 2. They show respective schematic representations of a breast implant with conventional anatomical morphology, the first in frontal view and the second in profile or lateral
- Figure 3.- Shows a front elevation view of a breast implant made in accordance with the object of the present invention.
- Figure 4 shows a rear elevation view of the same implant of Figure 3.
- Figure 5 shows a profile view of the implant of Figures 3 and 4.
- the body (1) of the implant incorporates in its front face two strips (5) of the same material as the cover, that is solid silicone, located at the lower level and in a substantially symmetrical arrangement with respect to the imaginary vertical and middle axis of the implant, as seen in Figure 3, strips that are fixed at one of its ends (6) to the front wall (2) of the implant by means of a seal, and that in correspondence with its other end incorporate two holes (7) that allow the passage of a stitch.
- the described structure is repeated on the rear face (3) of the implant, that is to say two other strips (8) fixed to the rear wall (3) of the cover and provided at one of its ends with respective holes (9) for passage of a stitch.
- the strips (5, 8) are basically rectangular and have a length of approximately 2 cm and a width between 6 and 8 mm, to offer good feel and resistance.
- the tissue to which said strips are attached may be the breast tissue, the pectoralis major, the fascia of the pectoralis major, the fascia of the anterior rectus muscle, or that of the intercostal muscles.
- the tissue used depends on the space where the implant is placed, subglandular, subfascial or subpectoral, or dual pla ⁇ e and the approach route by which it is placed, periareolar or inframammary or even axillary.
- the breast implant that the invention proposes is capable of incorporating a mark (10), based on a radiopaque and biocompatible material, preferably on the tactile mark that the implants incorporate in the pole inferior, which allows to know the position of said implant at any time, by conventional radiology, mammography or scanner, or ultrasound.
