Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the technical sector of packing tiles; in particular, the invention relates to a device for stabilizing a mutual gluing of the flaps of one or more cardboard blanks applied to a tile or a stack of tiles.
  • a “perimeter” packing of a stack of tiles is known, also known as “wrap around” packs, which consists in applying one or more folded cardboard blanks to the flanks of a stack of tiles.
  • the cardboard blank comprises a band formed by four bands arranged one following another and hinged to one another, each of which has four sides and is dimensioned such as to clad a corresponding flank of a stack of tiles; the band embraces the stack of tiles and the ends of the band are then sealed to one another by means of glue; thus, two opposite sides of each band are connected to corresponding sides of adjacent bands.
  • Two flaps are hinged on either of the remaining opposite sides which are then folded against the upper and lower surface of the stack of tiles; the flaps which contact the same surface of the stack of tiles are provided with glue so that they glue to one another, thus completing the packing of the stack of tiles.
  • the pack thus obtained protects the stack of tiles and minimizes the quantity of cardboard used.
  • a press arranged downstream of the folding means, comprising: a seating for restingly receiving the packed stack of tiles; and a vertically mobile plate, which is arranged above the seating such as to press homogeneously against the packed stack of tiles and thus stabilize the gluing of the flaps to one another.
  • the plate has dimensions that are at least equal to the dimensions of the upper surface of the packed stack of tiles and is activated by four pneumatic cylinders.
  • the press has to be designed such as to develop a sufficient pressure at the superposing zones of the flaps such as to stabilize the gluing thereof; consequently the press has a weight, dimensions and cost of not insignificant entities.
  • the inertia of the plate constitutes a limit for productivity: in fact, the raising and lowering of the plate has to be performed slowly, unless high-power activating mechanisms are used, incurring high costs and dimensions.
  • the aim of the present invention consists in obviating the above-mentioned drawbacks.
  • the aim is attained by means of a device for stabilizing the mutual gluing of the flaps of one or more cardboard blanks applied to a tile or a stack of tiles, according to claim 1.
  • the packed tile or stack of tiles can be easily inserted in the seating, thanks to the lead-in the first metal band forms, such as to facilitate inserting by dragging of the packed tile or stack of tiles into the seating; the first metal band is arranged such as to press elastically against the first superposing zone when the packed tile or stack of tiles is in the seating, stabilizing the mutual gluing of the first flap and the second flap.
  • the first metal band can advantageously have smaller dimensions as it has only to press on the first superposing zone; the weight is also therefore of modest size. Further, the first metal band does not have to perform relative movements and thus does not require activations; it flexes elastically when the packed tile or stack of tiles is inserted in the seating, elastically pressing against the first superposing zone.
  • the device can therefore advantageously have a greater productivity with respect to the devices of known type. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.
