La présente invention concerne un procédé destiné à synthétiser un polymère de type phénothiazine, de préférence présentant une activité d'oxydo-réduction, électriquement conducteur à partir d'une polyaniline, et comportant les étapes consistant à : a. éventuellement faire réagir la polyaniline, de préférence sous forme d'éméraldine, avec une source de chalcogène dans un solvant de manière à former une suspension de polyaniline sous forme de leucoéméraldine, b. éventuellement éliminer le solvant de la suspension d'une polyaniline sous forme de leucoéméraldine de manière à former une poudre d'une polyaniline sous forme leucoéméraldine, c. chauffer la poudre d'une polyaniline sous forme leucoéméraldine en présence d'un catalyseur et d'un chalcogène de manière à former un polymère de type phénothiazine, et d. éventuellement doper le polymère de type phénothiazine à l'aide d'un acide protique.
