Definitions
- Solid oxide fuel cell comprising anti-reflection layer and its manufacturing method
- the present invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell, and more particularly, to a solid oxide fuel cell including a react ion preventing layer.
- a fuel cell is a device that generates electricity by reacting fuel such as hydrogen or natural gas with oxygen. It is recognized as one of the main energy technologies of the future because of its efficiency, pollution-free and noise-free characteristics.
- Solid oxide fuel cells SOFCs
- SOFCs use solid oxides as electrolytes to pass oxygen ions, and zirconia (Zr0 2 ) oxides, ceria (Ce0 2 ) oxides, and lanthanum-strontium- electrolytes.
- Gadolinium-magnesium oxide (LSGM) and the like are used.
- the above electrolyte is composed of yttria (Y 2 0 3 ), ceria (Ce0 2 ), scandia (Sc 2 0 3 ), gadolinium oxide (Gd 2 0 3 ) for the purpose of improving thermal stability and ionic conductivity at high temperature. It contains a stabilizer, such as some.
- the unit cell of the solid oxide fuel cell SOFC has the solid electrolyte described above, and is formed in a form in which a cathode material is attached on one side and a cathode material on the other side.
- cathode materials include a mixture of nickel oxide (NiO) and yttrium stabilized zirconia (YSZ), and lanthanum-strontium-manganese oxide (LSM) or lanthanum- Strontium-cobalt iron oxide (LSCF) etc. are used.
- lanthanum-strontium-manganese oxide (LSM) -based anode materials rather than lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) -based anode materials have been known to be excellent in electrochemical properties of fuel cells.
- LSCF iron oxide
- the lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) -based anode material has a property of reacting with a zirconia (Zr0 2 ) -based electrolyte, so that the lanthanum zirconate during the process of sintering the anode and while the battery is operated at high temperature.
- Composite oxides with low ionic conductivity such as Conate (La 2 Zr 2 0 7 ) or Strontium Zirconate (SrZr0 3 ) are formed at the anode and electrolyte interfaces.
- Such a compound causes the oxygen ions formed at the anode to diffuse through the electrolyte, thereby lowering the rate at which the reaction with hydrogen occurs at the cathode, thereby degrading the overall performance of the fuel cell. Therefore, when using lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) -based materials or zirconia (Zr0 2 ) -based materials as electrolyte materials, it is necessary to prevent reaction between the two layers to ensure durability of the battery. Required.
- LSCF lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide
- Zr0 2 zirconia
- One aspect of the present invention is to provide a solid oxide fuel cell having a anti-reflection layer between the positive electrode and the electrolyte in order to improve the performance of the entire battery and to ensure durability, and a method of manufacturing the same.
- the present invention includes a positive electrode, an electrolyte and a negative electrode,
- a solid oxide fuel cell formed between the electrolyte and the anode, and comprising a reaction prevention layer made of a material containing 35 to 90 mol% of ceria (GDC) doped with gadolinia and 10 to 65 mol% of a metal oxide.
- GDC ceria
- the present invention comprises the steps of forming a cathode layer;
- an anti-ungung layer comprising a material containing 10 to 65 mol% of a metal oxide on gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC) by using an aerosol spraying method on the electrolyte layer; And.
- GDC gadolinia-doped ceria
- It provides a method for manufacturing a solid oxide fuel cell comprising a reaction prevention layer comprising forming an anode layer on the anti-reflection layer.
- the solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention by introducing a reaction prevention layer, it is possible to prevent the elements constituting the positive electrode material from diffusing into the electrolyte layer during the sintering process of the positive electrode layer. In addition, even when the fuel cell is operated at a high temperature for a long time, the anti-reflection layer is stably maintained, thereby increasing the high temperature reliability of the fuel cell.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing a cross section of the solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention.
- Figure 2 is a graph evaluating the output characteristics of Comparative Examples 2-1 and 2-2 of the present invention embodiment
- Figure 3 is a graph evaluating the output characteristics of Inventive Examples 2-1 to 2-3 of the present invention.
- Figure 4 is an electron microscope photograph of the unit cell cross section of the present invention Example 2-1.
- the solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention includes a positive electrode 10, an electrolyte 30, and a negative electrode 40, and a reaction barrier layer 20 is formed between the electrolyte 30 and the positive electrode 10.
- Solid oxide fuel cells generally have an electrolyte 30 in the center, and have a structure in which the positive electrode 10 and the negative electrode 40 are provided at both sides of the electrolyte 30.
- oxygen receives electrons, becomes oxygen ions, passes through the electrolyte 30 layer, and at the cathode 40, oxygen silver releases electrons and reacts with hydrogen gas to form water vapor.
- the electrolyte 30 of the solid oxide fuel cell should not be permeable because of its compactness, it should have no electron conductivity but high oxygen ion conductivity, and the electrode should be porous to allow gas to diffuse well and have high electron conductivity.
- the positive electrode 10 constituting the solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention is lanthanum-strontium-manganese oxide (LSM), lanthanum strontium-cobalt oxide (LSC) or lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) May be used, preferably lanthanum-strotium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) may be used.
- LSM lanthanum-strontium-manganese oxide
- LSC lanthanum strontium-cobalt oxide
- LSCF lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide
- lanthanum-stromium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) used as the material of the positive electrode 10 may be used alone, or may be used in combination with zirconia or ceria-based oxide.
- the electrolyte 30 constituting the present invention is composed of a solid oxide, and zirconia (Zr0 2 ) -based oxide, lanthanum-strontium-gadolinium-magnesium oxide (LSGM), and the like can be used.
- the negative electrode 40 constituting the present invention may be a mixture of nickel oxide (NiO) and yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ).
- the anti-reflection layer 20 may prevent lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF), which is a material constituting the anode 10, from reacting with the zirconia (Z) 2 constituting the electrolyte 30.
- LSCF lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide
- Z zirconia
- the anti-reflective layer 20 is a material constituting the anode 10 during the process of sintering the anode 10 to produce a solid oxide fuel cell or while the battery is operating at a high temperature.
- Cobalt-iron oxide (LSCF) reacts with the zirconia-based electrolyte 30 to form a complex oxide having low ion conductivity and low electrical conductivity such as lanthanum zirconate (La 2 Zr 2 0 7 ) or strontium zirconate (SrZr).
- LSCF cobalt-iron oxide
- La 2 Zr 2 0 7 lanthanum zirconate
- strontium zirconate SrZr
- the formation of compounds such as lanthanum zirconate (La 2 Zr 2 0 7 ) or strontium zirconate (SrZr0 3 ) as described above may be prevented from occurring at the interface.
- the anti-reflective layer 20 should not react chemically with the components of the material constituting the positive electrode 10, and lanthanum (La) and strontium (Sr) that meets and reacts with the constituents of the positive electrode 10, particularly the electrolyte 30. ) Is not allowed to diffuse into the electrolyte 30 layer through the anti-reflection layer 20 in any state such as atomic state or gas state.
- the material forming the semi-quadrant layer 20 in which oxygen silver formed at the anode 10 must diffuse through the electrolyte 30 to reach the cathode 40 must have high oxygen ion conductivity.
- Ceria doped with nia is often used.
- GDC Ceria doped with nia
- ADM aerosol deposition method
- the anti-reflection layer 20 is formed by using a metal oxide and GDC that are well laminated with ADM.
- the metal oxide exhibits the effect of improving the lamination speed of the coating layer of the GDC powder mixed together in the process of forming the coating layer. Therefore, it is possible to solve the problem of pure GDC coating by improving the lamination rate with the GDC in the process of forming the coating layer.
- the reaction prevention layer thus formed is preferably a material containing 10 to 65 mol% of metal oxides in 35 to 90 mol% of GDC.
- the fraction of the metal oxide exceeds 65 mol%, the conductivity of oxygen ions is lowered, and the output of the cell is lowered than the coating layer of ceria and gadolinia, and the metal oxide is mixed with GDC, thereby making it suitable.
- the metal oxide is sufficient to be laminated with ADM, such as aluminum oxide (A1 2 0 3 ), ceria (Ce0 2 ), gadolinia (Gd 2 0 3 ), yttria ( Y 2 0 3 ), zirconia ( ⁇ ) 2 ), and the like, and oxides doped (alloyed) with components other than pure oxides may be used.
- ADM aluminum oxide
- the reaction prevention layer 20 is preferably formed in a pore-free structure, the pores are locally formed according to the process conditions, in this case it is preferable that the pore size has a size of 0.1 / zm or less.
- the anti-reflection layer 20 preferably has a dense structure having a pore size of at least 0.1 / ⁇ .
- the thickness of the reaction prevention layer 20 is preferably 0.1 to 2.
- the thickness of the anti-reflective layer 20 is less than 0.1 /, not only the formation of the film quality is difficult, but also the thickness of the film may be uneven during film formation, and reaction of the anode 10 and the electrolyte 30 may occur locally.
- the thickness exceeds 2 / can effectively prevent reaction between the electrolyte 30 and the positive electrode 10, in this case, since the anti-reflection layer 20 itself acts as a resistance, 2 / It is preferred not to exceed / m.
- Preferred manufacturing method in the present invention is to form a cathode layer .
- the method for forming the negative electrode layer and the electrolyte layer is not particularly limited in the present invention, and is based on a conventional method performed in the technical field to which the present invention belongs. As a preferable example, a tape casting method or the like can be used.
- a mixture of nickel oxide (NiO) and zirconia (Zr0 2 ) may be formed by a tape casting method, and the electrolyte layer may be formed by casting a material such as yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ). It can form using a method.
- YSZ yttria stabilized zirconia
- the reaction prevention layer 20 is formed by using aerosol injection method (ADM) with powder containing 1 to 20% by weight of metal oxide mixed in gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC). It may be formed in the electrolyte layer.
- ADM aerosol injection method
- GDC gadolinia-doped ceria
- the metal oxide serves to improve the stacking speed of the reaction prevention layer, and it is difficult to expect the stacking speed to be improved at less than 1% by weight.
- the metal oxide is more than 20% by weight, the fraction of the GDC is lowered to lower the output of the cell. have.
- the reaction prevention layer formed through the ADM using the mixed powder is formed of a material containing 10 to 65 mol% of metal oxides in the GDC.
- Screen printing, sputtering, etc. may be used as a method of forming the anti-reflective layer 20, but the screen printing method has a problem in that a structure of the anti-reflective layer is difficult to obtain a dense layer.
- the anti-reflection layer is formed, and after forming the positive electrode, strontium (Sr) or lanthanum (La), which is a constituent element of the positive electrode material, through pores present in the anti-reflection layer during the anodic sintering heat treatment ) Does not completely prevent the diffusion into the electrolyte to form a reaction layer with low ion conductivity.
- the aerosol spraying method or the aerosol deposition method uses powder as a starting material, and is a method of forming a film quality by powder particles sprayed at high speed through a nozzle stratified onto a substrate.
- a film having a dense structure is deposited at room temperature, and no interfacial reaction occurs between the substrate and the film during deposition, and various materials such as ceramics, polymers, and metals such as oxides can be used as the substrate.
- the manufacturing method of the solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention is the anode layer
- It may further comprise the step of heat treatment at 950 ⁇ 1100 o C.
- the heat treatment is a material constituting the positive electrode 10
- the heat treatment temperature is not sufficient when the heat treatment at less than 950 ° C to reduce the bonding strength between the positive electrode 10 and the anti-reflection layer 20 output of the fuel cell This is because the deterioration may occur, and in the case of exceeding the liocrc, interdiffusion between the electrolyte 30 and the anode 10 may occur or electrical resistance may increase, and locally a hole (hole) may be formed in the anti-reflection layer 20. This is because the output of the battery may decrease due to the reaction between the positive electrode 10 and the electrolyte 30.
- the material constituting the anti-reflective layer 20 is preferably a material containing 10 to 65 mol% of a metal oxide in gadolin-doped ceria (GDC).
- GDC gadolin-doped ceria
- the powder contains 20% by weight on the surface of the electrolyte layer by using a transport gas (carrier gas) ⁇ 500m / sec It is preferably formed by delamination at a rate of.
- the transport gas may be a gas such as air, nitrogen, helium. In this case, it is preferable to use the thing of the average particle size of the said powder in the range of 0.3-5.
- the average particle size of the powder is less than 3 , the energy impinging on the substrate is small, so that it is difficult to form a dense film. If the average particle size is more than 5 ⁇ s, the particle size of the powder is so large that it is difficult to form aerosols. This is because is lowered.
- Example 1 prevents reaction by using aerosol injection method To check the stacking speed.
- a mixture of nickel oxide (NiO) and zirconia (Zr 2 0 3 ) (weight ratio 50:50) is formed by using a tape casting method to form a cathode, and yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) is used as a component on the cathode.
- YSZ yttria stabilized zirconia
- the cathode and the electrolyte were sintered.
- the reaction prevention layer forming material shown in Table 1 was prepared on the electrolyte, and then a reaction prevention layer was formed using an aerosol spray method.
- the apparatus for aerosol injection includes an aerosol chamber and a deposition ion chamber in which a coating is formed, and a powder and a transport gas mixture formed in the aerosol chamber by lowering the vacuum degree of the deposition chamber using a vacuum pump ( Aerosol state) was sprayed through the nozzle to form a film on the surface of the electrolyte while stratifying in the deposition chamber.
- the film formation conditions were the same nozzle, the transport gas using compressed air, the distance between the nozzle and the specimen was set to 10 ⁇ 1, the moving speed of the specimen was set to 10 ⁇ / sec, and the specimen was reciprocated five times with respect to the nozzle. .
- the time required to prepare each coating specimen is the same.
- the thickness of the anti-reflection layer thus formed is shown in Table 1 below, which was measured using a scanning electron microscope.
- the reaction prevention layer was formed by varying the reaction prevention layer formation conditions shown in Table 2 below.
- the thickness of the anti-reflection layer was formed to be 0.6 to 1.0 // m by adjusting the number of round trips of the specimen to the nozzle, that is, the number of coatings.
- LSCF lanthanum-strontium-cobalt-iron oxide
- Gd-doped Ce0 2 gadolinium-doped ceria
- the cell was cut into a button cell having a diameter of 23 ⁇ ⁇ , and the current-voltage (output) characteristics were evaluated using an evaluation apparatus.
- the flow rate of hydrogen supplied to the cathode was 100 m £ / min, and the flow rate of air supplied to the anode was 300 ⁇ / min, and the characteristic evaluation was performed at 750 o C based on the cathode temperature.
- the properties measured as described above are shown in Table 2 and FIGS. 2 to 3.
- FIG. 4 is an electron micrograph of the cross-section observed in Inventive Example 2-1 of the present invention. As can be seen from the photograph of FIG. 4, in the case of the present invention, it can be seen that the anti-reflection layer is formed very densely between the electrolyte and the anode.
