- FIG. 7 is an explanatory diagram of a conventional MFM for observing a DC magnetic field in which the probe 811 of the cantilever 81 is made of a hard magnetic material (see Patent Document 1).
- the hard magnetic material is a material in which magnetization reversal hardly occurs once magnetized.
- an alloy of cobalt and chromium, an alloy of iron and platinum, or the like is used as the probe 811.
- the cantilever 81 is excited by the piezoelectric element 812 at a resonance frequency or a frequency close to the resonance frequency (for example, about 300 kHz).
- the surface of the observation sample 82 is two-dimensionally scanned by the probe 811 of the cantilever 81. At this time, a magnetic interaction occurs between the probe 811 and the observation sample 82.
- the cantilever 81 behaves as if the spring constant has changed during vibration. Due to the change in the apparent spring constant, the resonance frequency of the cantilever 81 changes. If the resonance frequency changes, the amplitude and phase of the cantilever 81 change. In the MFM of FIG. 7, the vibration with the changed amplitude and phase is measured by optical detection, for example. Thereby, the magnetic profile (for example, the magnetic characteristic corresponding to a recording state) of the observation sample 82 can be acquired as a magnetic field distribution image.
- the MFM of FIG. 7 has the disadvantages that the signal strength is weak and the S / N ratio is poor.
- an MFM for observing a DC magnetic field using a soft magnetic probe as the probe 911 of the cantilever 91 shown in FIG. 8 has been filed by the present inventor (see Patent Document 2).
- the MFM in FIG. 8 can improve the above inconvenience.
- a material that causes magnetization reversal in a relatively weak external magnetic field such as nickel iron, is used as the probe 911.
- an AC magnetic field generator 92 is provided on the side of the observation sample 93 opposite to the side on which the cantilever 91 is provided.
- the AC magnetic field generator 92 does not affect the magnetization state of the surface of the observation sample 93, but can change the direction of magnetization (magnetic moment) of the probe 911.
- the cantilever 91 is excited by the piezoelectric element 912 at a resonance frequency or a frequency close to the resonance frequency (for example, about 300 kHz).
- the AC magnetic field generation period of the AC magnetic field generator 92 can be set to 10 Hz to 1 kHz in which the magnetization of the probe 911 can be easily reversed.
- the magnetic polarity of the probe 911 formed at the tip of the cantilever 91 changes. Due to this change, a non-resonant AC magnetic force different from the resonance frequency of the cantilever 91 is generated between the probe 911 and the observation sample 93.
- the cantilever 91 when the cantilever 91 is excited at a frequency away from the resonance frequency by a piezoelectric element or the like, the vibration of the cantilever 91 undergoes amplitude modulation simultaneously with frequency modulation.
- the frequency profile and amplitude-modulated vibration are optically detected, frequency demodulated (or amplitude demodulated), and the amplitude and phase are measured.
- the frequency profile (or amplitude demodulated) signal is detected with low noise by a lock-in amplifier or the like, whereby the magnetic profile (for example, the magnetic recording medium of the magnetic disk) is detected (for example, the magnetic recording medium). Magnetic characteristics corresponding to the recording state) can be measured.
- the MFM of FIG. 8 prior to the measurement of the magnetic profile of the surface of the observation sample 93 described above, a probe is brought into contact with the surface of the observation sample 93 to perform two-dimensional scanning, and the unevenness of this surface can be detected. .
- the distance between the surface of the observation sample 93 and the probe 911 can be kept constant using the acquired surface unevenness information.
- the observation sample 93 in which the perpendicular magnetization component of the probe (component of the magnetization of the probe in the direction perpendicular to the sample surface (open arrow)) is generated from the observation sample 93.
- the perpendicular magnetization component of the probe component of the magnetization of the probe in the direction perpendicular to the sample surface (open arrow)
- it is synchronized with the phase of the magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the surface.
- the vertical magnetic field component is the maximum (that is, the in-plane magnetic field component is zero) when the magnetization of the probe 911 is perpendicular to the sample surface and the amplitude of the demodulated signal is maximum,
- the amplitude of the demodulated signal is zero, it can be determined that the vertical magnetic field component is zero (that is, the in-plane magnetic field component is maximum).
- the in-plane magnetization component of the probe (a component in the direction parallel to the sample surface of the probe magnetization (open arrow) is generated from the observation sample 93. It is assumed that the phase is synchronized with the phase of the magnetic field in the direction horizontal to the surface, in which case the in-plane magnetic field when the amplitude of the demodulated signal is maximum at the timing when the magnetization of the probe 911 is parallel to the surface of the observation sample 93. It can be determined that the component is maximum (that is, the vertical magnetic field component is zero), and when the amplitude of the demodulated signal is zero, the in-plane magnetic field component is determined to be zero (that is, the vertical magnetic field component is maximum).
- the magnetic profile of the observation sample in the MFM shown in FIG. 8 is measured using a lock-in amplifier with the signal source (current source) of the AC magnetic field generator 92 as a reference signal.
- an AC magnetic field generator that generates a magnetic field in which the perpendicular magnetization component of the probe (component in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the observation sample 93) is perpendicular to the surface of the observation sample 93 is obtained. Synchronizes with the phase of the resulting AC magnetic field.
- the in-plane magnetization component of the probe 911 (the component of the magnetization of the probe 911 in the direction parallel to the sample surface) generates an alternating current that generates a magnetic field in the direction parallel to the surface of the observation sample 93. Synchronizes with the phase of the alternating magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generator.
- the in-plane magnetic field component becomes maximum (that is, the vertical magnetic field component is zero)
- the in-plane magnetic field component becomes zero (that is, the vertical magnetic field component is maximum).
- the phase of the measurement signal may be delayed in the electric circuit on the power source side of the AC magnetic field generator or in the electric circuit of the demodulator.
- the change in magnetization of the probe 911 may be delayed from the change in the magnetic field of the AC magnetic field generator, and the phase may be further delayed. Since the phase delay shifts the timing of the time change of the magnetization of the probe 911, when the phase delay occurs, the magnetization of the probe 911 does not become perpendicular to the sample surface in the synchronization signal output of the lock-in amplifier. The component alone cannot be measured.
- the quadrature signal output of the lock-in amplifier when a phase delay occurs, the magnetization of the probe 911 is not parallel to the surface of the observation sample 93, and only the in-plane magnetic field component cannot be measured.
- the inventors have obtained a vertical magnetic field distribution image having an indefinite phase obtained from a vertical magnetic field component perpendicular to the surface of the observation sample and an in-plane magnetic field component parallel to the surface of the sample with respect to the DC magnetic field generated from the observation sample. Even so, by adjusting the phase, it is possible to acquire a magnetic field distribution image having a desired phase that is not affected by the phase delay of the measurement signal in the signal processing circuit or the phase delay of the magnetic field generated by the AC magnetic field generator. As a result, the present invention has been conceived.

Abstract
Description

V=V0cos(ωt) ・・・(1)
I=I0cos(ωt-φ01) ・・・(2)
HV=H0cos(ωt-φ02) ・・・(3)
F=F0cos(ωt-φ03) ・・・(4)
F0cos(ωt-φ03)
=F0cos(-φ03)cos(ωt)
-F0sin(-φ03)sin(ωt)
=F0cos(-φ03)cos(ωt)
+F0sin(-φ03)cos(ωt+π/2)
F0cos(-φ03)cos(ωt) ・・・(6A)
と、
F0sin(-φ03)cos(ωt+π/2) ・・・(6B)
m=m0exp(j(ωt-φ04))=mz+jmx ・・・(7)
mz=mocos(ωt-φ04) ・・・(7A)
mx=mosin(ωt-φ04) ・・・(7B)
Fz=mx(∂Hz/∂x)+mz(∂Hz/∂z)
=mx(∂Hx/∂z)+mz(∂Hz/∂z)
=m0sin(ωt-φ04)(∂Hx/∂z)
+m0cos(ωt-φ04)(∂Hz/∂z)
=m0{sin(ωt)cos(-φ04)
+cos(ωt)sin(-φ04)}(∂Hx/∂z)
+m0{cos(ωt)cos(-φ04)
-sin(ωt)sin(-φ04)}(∂Hz/∂z) ・・・(8)
m0{sin(ωt)cos(-φ04)
+cos(ωt)sin(-φ04)}(∂2Hx/∂z2)
+m0{cos(ωt)cos(-φ04)
-sin(ωt)sin(-φ04)}(∂2Hz/∂z2)
(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
-(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)+(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
(∂Hz/∂z)qcos(-φ04)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)m0sin(-φ04)
(∂F/∂z)=[∂(Fzcos(θ)+Fxsin(θ))/∂z]
=[∂{mx(∂Hz/∂x)+mz(∂Hz/∂z)}/∂z]cos(θ)
+[∂{mx(∂Hx/∂x)+mz(∂Hx/∂z)}/∂z]sin(θ)
=[∂{mx(∂Hx/∂z)+mz(∂Hz/∂z)}/∂z]cos(θ)
+[∂{mx(∂Hx/∂x)+mz(∂Hx/∂z)}/∂z]sin(θ)
=mx{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
+mz{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}
=m0sin(ωt-φ04){(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
+mocos(ωt-φ04){(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}
=m0{sin(ωt)cos(-φ04)+cos(ωt)sin(-φ04)}
{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
+mo{cos(ωt)cos(-φ04)-sin(ωt)sin(-φ04)}
{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}
=cos(ωt)[m0sin(-φ04){(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
+m0cos(-φ04){(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}]
+sin(ωt)[m0cos(-φ04){(∂2Hx/∂z2)cosθ
+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sinθ}
-m0sin(-φ04){(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}]
m0sin(-φ04)
{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
+m0cos(-φ04)
{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}
m0cos(-φ04)
{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂x∂z)sin(θ)}
-m0sin(-φ04)
{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(θ)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(θ)}
∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
(∂Fz/∂z)
=m0sin(ωt-φ04)(∂2Hx/∂z2)
+m0cos(ωt-φ04)(∂2Hz/∂z2)
=m0[{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}2
+{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}2]1/2
cos(ωt+tan-1[{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}/{(∂2Hz/∂z2)
cos(-φ04)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}])
=m0[{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}2
+{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}2]1/2
cos(ωt-tan-1[{(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
-(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)}/{(∂2Hz/∂z2)
cos(-φ04)+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}])
φ03=tan-1[{(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
-(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)}
/{(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}]
α1+jβ1={(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}
+j{(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)}
α1=(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
β1=-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04)
α1′+jβ1′={(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04+φC)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04+φC)}
+j{-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04+φC)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04+φC)}
α1′=(∂2Hz/∂z2)cos(-φ04+φC)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)sin(-φ04+φC),
β1′=-(∂2Hz/∂z2)sin(-φ04+φC)
+(∂2Hx/∂z2)cos(-φ04+φC)
φC=φ04 ・・・(13)
