Abstract
Description
第1の実施形態によれば、外装部材と、電極群と、負極リードと、開放弁と、ガス放出部とを含む非水電解質電池が提供される。外装部材は、外装缶と、外装缶の開口部に配置される蓋とを有する。負極端子は、外装缶または蓋に設けられている。電極群は、正極及び負極を含み、かつ外装部材内に配置される。負極リードは、負極端子と負極とを電気的に接続する。開放弁は、外装缶または蓋に設けられる。ガス放出部は、ゼオライト系多孔性物質を含む。また、ガス放出部は、負極リードからの熱伝導が可能なように外装部材内に配置される。
この正極は、正極集電体と、前記集電体の片面もしくは両面に担持され、活物質、導電剤および結着剤を含む正極活物質含有層とを有する。
アルミニウム箔及びアルミニウム合金箔の平均結晶粒径は、材料組織、不純物、加工条件、熱処理履歴、ならびに焼鈍条件など複数の因子から複雑な影響を受けて変化する。結晶粒径は、集電体の製造工程の中で、前記諸因子を組合せて調製することが可能である。
この負極は、集電体と、この集電体の片面もしくは両面に担持され、負極活物質、導電剤および結着剤を含む負極活物質含有層とを有する。この負極は、例えば粉末状の負極活物質に導電剤および結着剤を添加し、これらを適当な溶媒に懸濁させ、この懸濁物(スラリー)を集電体に塗布、乾燥、プレスして帯状電極にすることにより作製される。
セパレータは、絶縁性を有するものであれば特に限定されないが、ポリオレフィン、セルロース、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、及びビニロンのようなポリマーで作られた多孔質フィルム又は不織布を用いることができる。セパレータの材料は1種類であってもよく、或いは、2種類以上を組合せて用いてもよい。
この非水電解質は、非水溶媒と、この非水溶媒に溶解される電解質塩を含む。また、非水溶媒中にはポリマーを含んでもよい。
第2の実施形態によれば、非水電解質電池を含む電池パックが提供される。非水電解質電池には、第1の実施形態に係る非水電解質電池が使用される。電池パックに含まれる非水電解質電池(単電池)の数は、1個または複数にすることができる。複数の単電池を備える場合、各単電池は電気的に直列もしくは並列に接続されている。
<正極の作製>
正極活物質にLiCoO2を用い、これに導電剤として正極全体に対して8重量%の割合になるように黒鉛粉末、結着剤として正極全体に対して5重量%となるようにPVdFをそれぞれ配合し、これらをn-メチルピロリドン(NMP)溶媒に分散してスラリーを調製した。得られたスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム箔からなる集電体に一方の長辺を除いて塗布、乾燥、プレス工程を経て電極密度3.3g/cm3の正極を作成した。
負極活物質にLi4Ti5O12を用い、導電剤としてグラファイトを負極全体に対して10重量%になるように、結着剤としてPVdFを負極全体に対して3重量%となるように、n-メチルピロリドン(NMP)溶液中で混合することによりスラリーを調製した。得られたスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム箔からなる集電体に一方の長辺を除いて塗布し、乾燥し、プレスすることにより電極密度2.1g/cm3の負極を作成した。
PCとDECとを体積比(PC:DEC)が1:2となるように混合した混合溶媒に、1.5MのLiPF6を溶解させ、非水電解質を得た。
ゼオライト系多孔性物質としてモレキュラーシーブ(4A型)3g(非水電解質電池の重量を100重量%とした際の0.6重量%に相当)を矩形のペレット状に成型し、ガス放出部を得た。
非水電解質をポリエチレン製多孔質フィルムからなる厚さ20μmのセパレータに含浸した後、このセパレータで正極を覆い、負極をセパレータを介して正極と対向するように重ねて渦巻状に捲回し、渦巻状の電極群を作製した。この電極群にプレスを施すことにより、扁平状に成形した。厚さ0.3mmのアルミニウムからなる缶形状の容器(外装缶)に、扁平状に成形した電極群を挿入した。蓋と電極群との間にガス放出部を開放弁と対向するように配置した。開放弁とガス放出部との隙間は2mm(電池高さを100%とした際2%に相当)とした。帯状のアルミニウム板からなる熱伝導部の一端をガス放出部に接着剤で接着し、他端を負極リードの支持板に溶接した。このようにして図1に示す厚さ20mm、幅120mm、高さ100mmで重量500gの扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
図4に示すように熱伝導部17の上部にガス放出部16を配置した以外は、実施例A-1と同様な重量502gの扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
図5に示すように熱伝導部17の凹部17a内にガス放出部16を収容すること以外は実施例A-1と同様な重量501gの扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
開放弁とガス放出部との隙間を0mmとした以外は実施例A-1と同様の扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
開放弁とガス放出部との隙間を5mm(電池高さを100%とした際5%に相当)とした以外は実施例A-1と同様の扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
開放弁とガス放出部との隙間を10mm(電池高さを100%とした際10%に相当)とした以外は実施例A-1と同様の扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
モレキュラーシーブ(3A型)を使用した以外は実施例A-1と同様の電池を作製した。
モレキュラーシーブ(5A型)を使用した以外は実施例A-1と同様の電池を作製した。
ガス放出部と熱伝導部を配置しない以外は実施例1と同様の497gの電池を作製した。
正極活物質にLiCoO2を用い、これに導電剤として正極全体に対して5重量%の割合になるように黒鉛粉末、結着剤として正極全体に対して5重量%となるようにPVdF、さらに正極全体に対して3重量%となるようにモレキュラーシーブ(4A型)をそれぞれ配合してn-メチルピロリドン(NMP)溶媒に分散してスラリーを調製した。得られたスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム箔に一方の長辺を除いて塗布、乾燥、プレス工程を経て電極密度3.3g/cm3の正極を作成した。得られた正極を用い、かつガス放出部と熱伝導部を配置しないこと以外は、実施例A-1と同様の扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
厚さ17μmのポリエチレン製多孔質フィルムに厚さ3μmのモレキュラーシーブ(4A型)層を有するフィルムをセパレータに用い、かつガス放出部と熱伝導部を配置しないこと以外は実施例A-1と同様の扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
図7に示す扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。長辺に正極タブを設けないこと以外は、実施例A-1と同様にして正極41を作製した。また、長辺に負極タブを設けないこと以外は、実施例A-1と同様にして負極42を作製した。得られた正負極41,42それぞれに帯状の正負極タブ43,44を溶接した。ひきつづき、正負極41,42及び実施例A-1と同様なセパレータ45を用い、実施例A-1と同様にして電極群46を作製した。
ガス放出部16を用いないこと以外は、比較例B-1と同様にして扁平型非水電解質電池を作製した。
Claims (8)
- 外装缶及び蓋を有する外装部材と、
前記外装部材に設けられる負極端子と、
前記外装部材内に配置され、正極及び負極を含む電極群と、
前記負極端子と前記負極とを電気的に接続する負極リードと、
前記外装部材に設けられる開放弁と、
前記負極リードからの熱伝導が可能なように前記外装部材内に配置され、ゼオライト系多孔性物質を含むガス放出部と
を含むことを特徴とする非水電解質電池。 - 前記負極リードと前記ガス放出部とを接続し、アルミニウムを含む熱伝導部をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記ガス放出部は、前記開放弁と対向していることを特徴とする請求項2記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記ゼオライト系多孔性物質は、化学式Na12〔(AlO2)12(SiO2)12〕・27H2Oであらわされることを特徴とする請求項2記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記ガス放出部は、ポリオレフィン系樹脂をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項4記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記ゼオライト系多孔性物質の重量は、非水電解質電池重量を100重量%とした際に0.001重量%~4重量%の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項4記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記負極は、リチウムチタン複合酸化物を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の非水電解質電池。
- 請求項1記載の非水電解質電池を含むことを特徴とする電池パック。
