Abstract
Description
特許文献1~3には、複数の電池を備える電池システムにおいて、各電池から延びる配線ケーブルの長さ、断面積、抵抗率を均一化することによって、各電池に接続される配線ケーブルの抵抗値を揃え、セット毎の抵抗が等しくなるよう配線する技術が記載されている。
なお、本実施形態は、電池システムが熱的に安定している状態での運用を基準としている。
図1は、第1実施形態に係る電池システムの外観斜視図である。
本実施形態に係る電池システム1では、複数のセル電池(図示せず)から構成される電池モジュール(電池)3が、段毎に横方向に格納される形式で筐体2に収納されている。段毎の電池モジュール3の群を電池群4と称することとする。
筐体2の上面には筐体2内の熱を放出するためのファン5が設けられているが、このファン5は省略可能である。
発明者は、図2に示すように、図1の筐体2内において最上部の電池群4の温度は、最下段の電池群4に比べて高くなる傾向にあることを見出した。これは、電池モジュール3での発熱による熱が上昇することによるものと考えられる。
図3に示すように、リチウムイオン電池のようなセル電池の温度が上昇すると、セル電池内の電解液の粘度が低下し、イオンの移動度が向上し、内部抵抗が小さくなることが知られている。
図4の例では、電池群4の1つにつき、5つの電池モジュール3が直列に接続されている。そして、合計4つの電池群4が出力端12に対し並列接続されて、筐体2内に格納されている例を示す。
図4に示すように、各電池群4からの電力を外部へ出力する出力端12を筐体2最下部に設置することにより、温度が高い場所に配置されている電池群4、すなわち、セル電池の内部抵抗が小さい筐体2上部へいくほど電池群4に接続される配線ケーブル11の長さを長くする。つまり、図4における筐体2最上部から、電池群4a、電池群4b、電池群4c、電池群4dとすると、各電池群4への配線ケーブル11の長さは、電池群4a>電池群4b>電池群4c>電池群4dとなるようにしている。これにより、筐体2上部へ行くほど、電池群4に接続される配線ケーブル11の抵抗を大きくし、各電池群4における抵抗を均一化している。つまり、温度の高い場所に設置されている電池群4ほど、接続される配線ケーブル11の長さを長くしている。
図5においても、図4と同様に出力端12を筐体2の最下部に設置することで、セル電池の抵抗が小さい筐体2上部へいくほど電池群4に接続される配線ケーブル11の長さを長くするようにしている。
しかしながら、図4における各電池群4が並列に接続されていたのに対し、図5の例では図4と同様の電池群4を2つのグループ21に分け、それぞれのグループ21では、2つの電池群4が直列に接続されている。そして、それぞれのグループ21が、出力端12に対し、並列接続されている。このとき、上部の電池群4の2つと、下部の電池群4の2つとでグループ21を2つ形成し、それぞれに接続される配線ケーブル11の長さを変えている。
つまり、電池群4a、電池群4b、電池群4c、電池群4dを図4と同様に定義し、電池群4a、電池群4bをグループ21aとし、電池群4c、電池群4dをグループ21bとすると、各グループ21への配線ケーブル11の長さは、グループ21a>グループ21bとなる。
図6(a)に示す電池システム1aは、電池モジュール3が縦方向に収納されている。図6(a)の例では、縦4つの電池モジュール3が直列に接続される(図6(a)では接続は図示せず)ことで、電池群4を形成している。そして、電池群4は、横に5つ並べられている。
また、電池群4が収納されている筐体2の左右両端を両端部と称し、左右からみて筐体2中央の部分を中央部と称することとする。
なお、筐体2の上面にはファン5が設けられていてもよい。
筐体2の上面にファン5を設けた場合(図6で図示せず)、必ずではないものの、筐体2の中央部は大きな風量を確保できるが、筐体2の両端部は、風量が低下することがある。このため、図6(b)に示すように両端部の電池群4の温度が筐体2の中央部電池群4のに比べ、高くなる場合がある。
図7の例では、5つの電池群4(4e~4i)が、出力端12に対し縦方向に並列接続されている。
図面左から電池群4e、電池群4f、電池群4g、電池群4h、電池群4iとし、電池群4eおよび電池群4iに接続される配線ケーブル11を配線ケーブル11aとし、電池群4f、電池群4g、電池群4hに接続される配線ケーブル11を配線ケーブル11bとする。
ここで、各配線ケーブル11の長さは、配線ケーブル11a>配線ケーブル11bとなっている。具体的には、符号601のところで配線ケーブル11aを配線ケーブル11bより長くしている。
なお、本実施形態では、出力端12を筐体2の最下部に設置しているが、温度の高い場所に設置されている電池群4への配線ケーブル11の抵抗を大きくすることができれば、出力端12を筐体2の最下部に設置しなくてもよい。例えば、配線ケーブル11を細くしたり、筐体2上部への配線ケーブル11の材質を抵抗の大きい材質にしたり、途中に抵抗や、コンデンサや、コイルなどを接続することによって、配線ケーブル11の抵抗を大きくすることができれば、出力端12を最下部とは別の場所に設置してもよい。
また、本実施形態では、5つの電池モジュール3で1つの電池群4を形成し、4つあるいは5つの電池群4が筐体2に格納されている例を示している。そして、図5では、1つのグループ21に対し、2つの電池群4が格納されている例を示しているが、各個数の関しては、これらに限らないことは当然である。
本実施形態では、温度の高い場所に配置されている電池群4への配線ケーブル11の長さを長くし、温度の低い場所に配置されている電池群4への配線ケーブル11の長さを短くすることによって、電池群4毎の抵抗を均一化している。つまり、本願は、特許文献1~3のように各電池に接続される配線ケーブル11の抵抗値を揃えるのではなく、意図的に配線ケーブル11の抵抗値を、接続される電池群4に対応して変えている。
これにより、電池システム1,1aにおける電力を効率的に使用でき、さらに、内部抵抗の小さい電池への負荷集中による電池の劣化促進を防止することが可能となる。

Claims (6)
- 複数の電池が接続されている電池システムであって、
前記電池が設置されている場所の温度が高くなるところの電池は、高くならないところの電池よりも、前記電池へ接続される配線ケーブルの抵抗値を大きくする
ことを特徴とする電池システム。 - 前記配線ケーブルの長さを長くすることによって、前記配線ケーブルの抵抗値を大きくする
ことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項に記載の電池システム。 - 前記各電池からの電力を外部へ出力する出力端を、前記電池が収納されている筐体内において温度の低い場所に設置する
ことを特徴とする請求の範囲第1項または請求の範囲第2項に記載の電池システム。 - 前記出力端は、前記筐体の最下部に設置されている
ことを特徴とする請求の範囲第3項に記載の電池システム。 - 前記電池は、横方向に直列接続されることで、電池群を構成しており、
前記電池が収納されている筐体内において、上方に設置されている電池群ほど、前記配線ケーブルの長さを長くする
