Definitions
- the present invention relates to a mold for press molding in which a protective film for preventing seizure is formed on a surface in contact with a workpiece to be press-molded, and a method for manufacturing the same, and in particular, the resistance of the protective film formed by the PVD method.
- the present invention relates to a press mold having improved seizure properties and a method for manufacturing the same.
- a protective film for preventing seizure is formed on a molding surface in contact with a molding object in a recent press molding die.
- a hard protective film having lubricity such as DLC (diamond-like carbon) is formed on the surface of a mold by a CVD method (chemical vapor deposition method) or a PVD method (physical vapor deposition method).
- CVD method chemical vapor deposition method
- PVD method physical vapor deposition method
- Patent Document 2 discloses a method of manufacturing a tool that requires wear resistance such as a mold, and a protective film is formed on the surface of the base of the tool by an arc ion plating method that is one of PVD methods. Is formed, a part of the metal material of the cathode is scattered and adheres to the protective film, and it is disclosed that the tool life is reduced by spherical macro particles having a diameter of 1 to 5 ⁇ m. These macro particles are called droplets.
- the protective film is formed so that the surface is smooth as compared with the case of the CVD method or the like.
- the droplets are not removed, and if the treatment for removing the droplets is performed, there is a problem that the surface of the base of the tool is locally exposed and the effect of the protective film cannot be obtained.
- the droplets are removed by mechanically removing the droplets by a lapping process or the like, and then forming a second layer film on the protective film after the lapping process.
- the formed recess is filled (paragraphs 0002 to 0016 of Patent Document 2).
- Patent Document 3 discloses a protective film containing one or both of Co and Ni. By adding Co and Ni to the protective film, the ability of the protective film to adsorb the lubricant is improved. Thus, it is disclosed that the friction coefficient on the surface of the protective film can be lowered.
- Patent Document 2 discloses that droplets adhere when a protective film is formed by the PVD method.
- Patent Document 3 when the droplets adhering to the protective film are present at an appropriate density, the droplets are sequentially dropped by contacting the object to be molded, and the final friction coefficient on the surface of the protective film. Is stated to be smaller.
- Patent Document 3 describes that when the surface roughness of the protective film exceeds 0.6 ⁇ m at the maximum height Ry , the effect of providing the protective film is reduced, and this is prevented. Therefore, it is also disclosed to remove the droplets by wrapping.
- a second-layer film is further formed on the protective film after the lapping treatment (paragraphs 0029 to 0035 of Patent Document 3).
- Patent Document 1 when the surface roughness of the protective film is rough, the seizure resistance of the mold is improved by lapping the surface.
- the surface roughness of the protective film is managed by the maximum height Ry , only the tip 101 of the protruding portion is removed by lapping as shown in FIGS. 8 (a) and 8 (b). Therefore, after lapping, there is a problem that the concave portion 102 remains, which causes the concave portion to act as a notch and is easily damaged by impact or fatigue.
- Patent Document 2 after the droplets are removed, a coating film is further formed on the protective film after the lapping treatment, thereby preventing the wear resistance of the protective film from being lowered.
- Patent Document 2 does not disclose any technique for managing the thickness and surface roughness of the second layer coating. Therefore, the surface state of the protective film surface that is in direct contact with the object to be molded is unknown.
- Patent Document 3 as in Patent Document 1, since the surface roughness of the protective film is controlled by the maximum height Ry , the mold is easily damaged by impact or fatigue, and the polishing flaw adheres. There is a problem that it is easy. Although Patent Document 3 describes that the desired surface roughness is ensured by the second layer coating, the second layer coating that directly contacts the object to be molded is polished. Not.
- Patent Document 3 in order to obtain a predetermined surface roughness (maximum height R y ) in the second-layer coating film, a test piece provided separately from a mold for actually forming a protective film Therefore, it is necessary to examine the film thickness with which a predetermined surface roughness can be obtained, and there is also a possibility that the surface roughness of the second layer coating film may vary, resulting in low productivity.
- the present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and in a press molding die having a protective film formed by a PVD method, a press molding die having high seizure resistance and a press molding die. It aims at providing the manufacturing method of a protective film.
- the press-molding die according to the present invention is a press-molding die in which a protective film for preventing seizure at the time of press molding is formed on at least a molding surface that comes into contact with the workpiece.
- An arbitrary selection section extracted from the surface is divided into a plurality of individual sections, the number of divisions is N, and the nth division point from the end of the selection section is When the surface slope at the n-th division point is (dZ n / dX n ) assuming that the selected section extends from the (n ⁇ 1) -th division point in the direction extending dXn and dZn in the height direction.
- the root mean square R ⁇ q calculated from the following formula 1 is 0.032 or less.
- the surface roughness of the protective film is managed by the root mean square R ⁇ q calculated from the surface inclination at each dividing point. That is, the root mean square R ⁇ q is calculated from the slope of the surface at each dividing point according to the provisions of JIS B0601 (1994, the same applies hereinafter) and JIS B0031 (1994, the same applies hereinafter), and this value R ⁇ q is set to 0.032 or less. By doing so, the seizure resistance is improved.
- the protective film is formed by a PVD method using a metal material containing 50 atomic% or more of pre-alloy as a cathode.
- the protective film is, for example, formed by forming a first thin film made of a TiAlN-based material on the side in contact with the object to be molded.
- the protective film includes a second thin film made of a CrN-based material formed on the molding surface, and the first thin film is formed on the second thin film.
- the method for producing a protective film for a press mold according to the present invention includes a press for forming a protective film for preventing seizure at the time of press molding on at least a molding surface of the press mold that is in contact with the molding target.
- the surface roughness of the protective film formed on the surface of the die by the PVD method is defined by the parameter R ⁇ q in any selected section.
- This parameter R ⁇ q is calculated by dividing the arbitrary selection section into a plurality of individual sections and the slope of the surface at each division point, so that the surface state of the protective film is compared with the surface roughness due to the maximum height or the like. Can be managed accurately. If the parameter R ⁇ q is 0.032 or less, high seizure resistance can be obtained in the press mold.
- the surface state of the protective film is managed by the inclination of each divided section divided into a plurality, and the inclination of the protective film after polishing is small. Therefore, it is possible to prevent impact damage and fatigue damage of the mold having the notched concave portion after lapping, and also prevent adhesion of the polishing rod. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to dramatically improve the service life of the press mold.
- the seizure resistance of the press-molding die can be increased and the life can be improved.
- FIG. 1 It is a schematic diagram which shows the press molding of a board
- or (d) is a figure which shows the measurement result of the surface roughness of each test piece in the Example of this invention.
- (A), (b) is a figure which shows as an example the surface of the protective film before and behind lapping in case surface roughness is prescribed
- (A), (b) is a schematic diagram which shows the surface state in case surface roughness is prescribed
- the press molding die in the present invention is, for example, a die 11 and a punch 12 in a press molding machine 10 as shown in FIG. 6 and is used as follows. That is, for example, the plate material 2 of the object to be molded is placed on the punch 12, and then the plate material 2 is fixed on the punch 12 by applying an elastic force through the pad 13 or the like, for example, with an elastic member. In this state, the die 11 is lowered from above the plate material 2, and the plate material 2 is sandwiched between the die 11 and the punch 12, thereby pressing the plate material 2 into a predetermined shape.
- the die 11 and the punch 12 are repeatedly subjected to shearing and bending on the plate material 2, so that friction is generated in a portion in contact with the plate material 2, and friction heat is generated.
- the surfaces of the die 11 and the punch 12 are seized and cannot be used.
- the press molding die of the present invention has a protective film for preventing seizure formed on at least the molding surface that comes into contact with the molding target.
- the protective film is formed by a PVD method such as ion plating.
- This protective film is formed, for example, by the PVD method using a metal material containing 50 atomic% or more of Al as a cathode (target). That is, the target metal material contains, for example, 52 to 55 atomic% Al. In addition to Al, the metal material contains, for example, Ti: 20 to 22 atomic%, Cr: 20 to 22 atomic%, and Si: about 5 atomic%.
- a thin film (first thin film) made of a TiAlN-based material has a thickness of 1 to 5 ⁇ m, for example, by depositing the metal material on the surface of the mold using N as a process gas, for example. It is formed.
- This TiAlN-based protective film has been conventionally used as a protective film, and since it was formed by the PVD method, when a part of the cathode metal of the evaporation source evaporated on the surface, it could not be ionized. Droplets with scattered metal are formed. Performing press molding while the droplets are adhered on the protective film causes seizure of the press molding die, and in the present invention, the droplets are removed by polishing.
- the root mean square R ⁇ q defined in JIS B0601 and JIS B0031 is used instead of the conventionally used surface roughness standard, and the parameter R ⁇ q is set to 0.032 or less. It is managed. That is, the parameter R ⁇ q extracts an arbitrary section of the surface of the protective film, divides it into a plurality of individual sections, sets the number of divisions to N, and sets the nth dividing point from the end of the selected section to the (n-1) th.
- Equation 3 the 1 to 4 mm section is divided into 1668 to 6667, and the parameter R ⁇ q is calculated.
- FIG. 1 is an SEM photograph showing the surface of the protective film in the press molding die according to the present invention
- FIG. 2 is an SEM photograph showing the surface of the protective film having a large surface roughness after lapping
- FIG. 3 is a view after conventional lapping. It is a SEM photograph which shows the surface of a protective film. Note that the magnifications in FIGS. 1 to 3 are each 500 times. Conventionally, when wrapping droplets manages the surface roughness of the protective film after wrapping in JIS B0601 to specified maximum height R y, mean roughness ten point R z or arithmetic mean roughness R a Therefore, as shown in FIG.
- the surface irregularities are polished so as to be uniformly smooth, and as shown in FIG. 1, no sharp portions are left on the surface of the protective film.
- the above-mentioned problems do not occur, the friction between the press-molded metal plate and the protective film can be greatly reduced, and the seizure of the mold is prevented.
- the life of the molding die can be dramatically improved. Even when the surface roughness of the protective film is controlled by the parameter R ⁇ q, when R ⁇ q exceeds 0.032, a recess remains on the surface of the protective film as shown in FIG. The effect of the invention cannot be obtained sufficiently.
- FIG. 5 is a graph showing the change in the number of possible shots of the press molding die with respect to the parameter R ⁇ q.
- each plot in the graph shows the test results of Examples described later, and the white circle plot indicates a TiAlN-based protective film formed by the arc ion plating method, and the black circle plot indicates a TiC-based protection layer.
- the triangular plot indicates that the VC-based protective film is formed by the molten salt immersion method
- the square plot indicates that the TiN-based protective film is formed by the arc ion plating method. Show the case.
- the solid line in FIG. 5 shows the relationship between the number of possible shots of the press mold and R ⁇ q calculated based on the durability test result in the TiAlN-based protective film.
- the number of press molds that can be shot is less than 300 times, and the mold life is short.
- the parameter R ⁇ q is 0.032 or less
- the number of shots is dramatically increased, the number of shots is 1000 or more, and when the parameter R ⁇ q is 0.030, the number of shots is 6000.
- the durable life of the mold can be dramatically improved. As shown in FIG.
- the parameter R ⁇ q may be 0.032 or less, and preferably 0.030 or less. However, it is not limited to these numerical values, and the smaller the parameter R ⁇ q, the better. As shown in FIG. 5, when the VC protective film is formed by the molten salt dipping method, even if the parameter R ⁇ q is reduced to about 0.02, the possible shot number of the press molding die is It is about 2000 times, and the effect of improving the life is small as compared with the PVD method such as the arc ion plating method. Therefore, in the present invention, the protective film is preferably formed by a PVD method such as an arc ion plating method.
- a protective film serving as a base made of, for example, a CrN-based material is provided on the surface of the mold.
- the (second thin film) may be formed with a thickness of 2 to 5 ⁇ m, for example.
- a method for producing a protective film for press molds will be described.
- a mold for forming a protective film is introduced into a chamber to which a process gas such as nitrogen gas is supplied. Then, for example, a mold is placed on a rotary table connected to a bias power source, for example.
- a flat target connected to an arc power source is provided on the side wall of the vacuum chamber.
- the target is a metal plate containing, for example, 52 to 55 atomic% Al, and further containing Ti: 20 to 22 atomic%, Cr: 20 to 22 atomic%, and Si: about 5 atomic%.
- each ionized metal particle reacts with, for example, N of the process gas and adheres to the mold in the form of a thin film to form a protective film.
- the protective film is formed with a predetermined thickness on the surface of the mold, the mold with the protective film is taken out from the vacuum chamber.
- the protective film formed on the surface of the mold is polished.
- conventional lapping for example, handler lapping is performed using a rotary tool, or lapping is performed using a sponge-like abrasive having a surface roughness number of, for example, 600 or less. That is, conventionally, a soft abrasive was used because of fear of overpolishing the surface of the protective film.
- a diamond paste is applied to a relatively hard abrasive obtained by solidifying felt so that the surface roughness is about 3000, for example, and lapping is performed. Thereby, the insufficient polishing of the droplet by the conventional polishing method can be solved, and the surface of the protective film can be sufficiently polished.
- the parameter R ⁇ q is used to manage the surface roughness. That is, R ⁇ q extracts an arbitrary section of the surface of the protective film, divides it into a plurality of individual sections, sets the number of divisions to N, and the nth division point from the end of the selected section is the (n ⁇ 1) th division.
- the surface irregularities are polished so as to be uniformly smooth, and as shown in FIG. No sharp parts are left on the surface. Therefore, there is no problem that the protective film is easily damaged by impact or fatigue, or that the polishing rod adheres to shorten the life of the mold, or the seizure resistance of the mold varies. Moreover, the friction between the press-molded metal plate and the protective film, for example, can be greatly reduced, and seizure of the mold can be prevented, so that the life of the press-molding mold can be dramatically improved.
- a protective film (second thin film) made of, for example, CrN-based material is formed on the surface of the mold, prior to the formation of the first thin film, metal Cr and 50 atomic% or less are used as a target.

- TD molten salt immersion
- a mold is immersed in a VC-based salt bath to form a VC-based protective film on the surface, and then subjected to quenching and tempering, followed by lapping.
- Ti: 50 atomic% and Al: 50 atomic% (however, inevitable impurities are included in each component) are used as target (cathode) materials in the chamber.
- Nitrogen gas or a mixed gas of nitrogen and hydrocarbons such as methane is used as a process gas to be introduced, and a TiC, TiN or TiAlN system is formed on the mold surface by arc ion plating in each process gas atmosphere.
