Le mécanisme à balancier comporte un balancier (400) et un mécanisme (5) d'entraînement en liaison pivot avec le bâti (7). Le balancier (400) comporte une tête (401) de balancier en liaison complète avec l'arbre tournant (6) de grille et un corps (402) de balancier doté d'un trou (422) de travail et d'un trou (412) de maintenance, la distance entre le trou (412) de maintenance et la ligne axiale de l'arbre tournant (6) de grille étant inférieure à la distance entre le trou (422) de travail et la ligne axiale de l'arbre tournant (6) de grille. Le mécanisme (5) d'entraînement comporte un fourreau (501) en liaison pivot avec le bâti (7) et une tige (502) d'entraînement installée de façon télescopique dans le fourreau, l'extrémité libre de la tige (502) d'entraînement étant montée soit dans le trou (422) de travail, soit dans le trou (412) de maintenance. Le balancier présente une structure simple et rationnelle, est commode à installer et est susceptible d'améliorer le rendement de travail lors du remplacement de barres de grille endommagées.
