水希釈用製剤としては、これまでに、乳剤、水和剤などが知られている。しかしながら、乳剤には多量の有機溶媒が用いられ、その多くが危険物に該当すると共に使用時の臭気や、有機溶媒の飛散が懸念される。また、水和剤は、薬液調製時の粉立ちによる使用者被曝が懸念される。これらの理由によって水性懸濁状の製剤が求められている。
