Description
本発明は、日本国特許出願:特願2009-227989号(2009年9月30日出願)の優先権主張に基づくものであり、同出願の全記載内容は引用をもって本書に組み込み記載されているものとする。
本発明は、電力増幅器、無線通信機および電力増幅方法に関し、特に、無線通信で使用され、高い電力効率が要求される電力増幅器、かかる電力増幅器を備えた無線通信機、および電力増幅方法に関する。
以下の分析は、本発明によってなされたものである。
振幅変調成分及び位相変調成分を含む変調信号を受信し、該振幅変調成分を出力するとともに、該変調信号を搬送波に重畳してRF変調信号として出力し、該振幅変調成分及び該RF変調信号の少なくともいずれか一方を遅延させるポーラ変調器と、
前記振幅変調成分を受信し、前記振幅変調成分をパルス変調してパルス変調信号として出力するとともに、前記振幅変調成分及び該パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅して出力する第1の振幅変調器と、
前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を受信し、前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅して出力する第2の振幅変調器と、

第1の実施形態に係る電力増幅器について図面を参照して説明する。図1は、本実施形態に係る電力増幅器の構成を示すブロック図である。図1を参照すると、電力増幅器は、ポーラ変調器52、第1の振幅変調器41、第2の振幅変調器11、及び、第1のRFアンプ(RF-PA:Radio Frequency Power Amplifier)6を有する。
第2の実施形態に係る電力増幅器について図面を参照して説明する。図7は、本実施形態に係る電力増幅器の構成を示す図である。図7を参照すると、本実施形態の電力増幅器においては、第1の実施形態の電力増幅器におけるRF-PA(第2のRFアンプ)26が抵抗素子34に置き換えられている。
第3の実施形態に係る電力増幅器について図面を参照して説明する。図8は、本実施形態に係る電力増幅器の構成を示す図である。図8を参照すると、本実施形態では、第1の実施形態の電力増幅器におけるスイッチングアンプ2及び22が、インバータ型回路からフィードフォワードコンバータ型回路に置き換えられている。

- 振幅変調成分及び位相変調成分を含む変調信号を受信し、該振幅変調成分を出力するとともに、該変調信号を搬送波に重畳してRF変調信号として出力し、該振幅変調成分及び該RF変調信号の少なくともいずれか一方を遅延させるポーラ変調器と、
前記振幅変調成分を受信し、前記振幅変調成分をパルス変調してパルス変調信号として出力するとともに、前記振幅変調成分及び該パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅して出力する第1の振幅変調器と、
前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を受信し、前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅して出力する第2の振幅変調器と、

前記変調信号の振幅変調成分を増幅して電圧信号を出力する電圧源と、
前記パルス変調信号を入力する端子と、
前記パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅して電流信号として出力する電流源と、
前記電圧信号と前記電流信号とを合成して出力する端子と、を備えていることを特徴とする、請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の電力増幅器。 - 前記電圧源は、帰還増幅器を備えていることを特徴とする、請求項6又は7に記載の電力増幅器。
- 前記電流源は、前記パルス変調信号を増幅した後、平滑フィルタで平滑化することによって、前記電流信号を生成するスイッチングアンプであることを特徴とする、請求項6又は7に記載の電力増幅器。
- 前記スイッチングアンプは、第1のスイッチング素子と、
第2のスイッチング素子と、
第1のスイッチング素子の一端が接続された接地端子と、
第2のスイッチング素子の一端が接続された直流電源と、
第1のスイッチング素子の他端と第2のスイッチング素子の他端とが接続された第1のノードに一端が接続されたインダクタ素子からなる平滑フィルタと、を備え、
前記パルス変調信号を用いて、前記接地端子から前記第1のノードへの電流の導通及び非導通を制御するとともに前記直流電源から前記第1のノードへの電流の導通及び非導通を制御することによって、前記パルス変調信号を増幅し、増幅後の信号を前記インダクタ素子によって平滑化して前記電流信号を生成することを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の電力増幅器。 - 前記スイッチングアンプは、トランスと、
前記トランスの1次側コイルの一端に接続された直流電源と、
前記トランスの1次側コイルの他端に接続されたスイッチング素子と、
前記トランスの2次側コイルの一端に接続された接地端子と、
前記トランスの2次側コイルの他端と第1のノードとの間に接続された第1の整流素子と、
前記接地端子と前記第1のノードとの間に接続された第2の整流素子と、
前記第1のノードに一端が接続されたインダクタ素子からなる平滑フィルタと、を備え、
前記パルス変調信号を用いた前記スイッチング素子によって前記直流電源からの電流の導通及び非導通を制御することで前記パルス変調信号を増幅し、増幅後の信号を前記トランス及び前記整流素子を経由させた後に前記インダクタ素子によって平滑化して前記電流信号を生成することを特徴とする、請求項9に記載の電力増幅器。 - 前記第1の振幅変調器の負荷インピーダンスは、前記第2の振幅変調器の負荷インピーダンスと同一の値であって、
前記第1の振幅変調器及び前記第2の振幅変調器は、同一の構成からなる平滑フィルタを備えていることを特徴とする、請求項9乃至11のいずれか1項に記載の電力増幅器。 - 請求項1乃至12のいずれか1項に記載の電力増幅器を備えていることを特徴とする無線通信機。
- 振幅変調成分及び位相変調成分を含む変調信号から該振幅変調成分を抽出するとともに、該変調信号を搬送波に重畳してRF変調信号とし、該振幅変調成分及び該RF変調信号の少なくともいずれか一方を遅延させる工程と、
前記振幅変調成分をパルス変調してパルス変調信号とするとともに、前記振幅変調成分及び該パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅する工程と、
前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を制御信号として、前記振幅変調成分を増幅して増幅された振幅変調成分とする工程と、
前記RF変調信号を増幅した後、前記増幅された変調成分によって振幅変調する工程と、を含むことを特徴とする電力増幅方法。 - 振幅変調成分及び位相変調成分を含む変調信号から該振幅変調成分を抽出するとともに、該位相変調成分を搬送波に重畳してRF位相変調信号とし、該振幅変調成分及び該RF位相変調信号の少なくともいずれか一方を遅延させる工程と、
前記振幅変調成分をパルス変調してパルス変調信号とするとともに、前記振幅変調成分及び該パルス変調信号を制御信号として前記振幅変調成分を増幅する第1の増幅工程と、
前記振幅変調成分及び前記パルス変調信号を制御信号として、前記振幅変調成分を増幅して増幅された振幅変調成分とする第2の増幅工程と、
前記RF位相変調信号を増幅した後、前記増幅された振幅変調成分によって振幅変調する工程と、を含むことを特徴とする電力増幅方法。 - 前記第1の増幅工程における前記振幅変調成分、及び、前記第2の増幅工程における前記振幅変調成分の少なくともいずれか一方を遅延させる工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項14又は15に記載の電力増幅方法。
