本発明の第三の態様は、第一の態様のディーゼルエンジンにおいて、排気ガスの温度を検出する温度センサを備え、前記電子制御コントローラは、前記温度センサにより検出された排気ガスの温度から前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するように構成するとしたものである。
本発明の第四の態様は、第一の態様のディーゼルエンジンにおいて、前記電子制御コントローラは、変更手段の手動操作によって前記再生制御を中止または実行することを可能としたものである。
本発明の効果として、以下に示すような効果を奏する。
本発明の第一の態様によれば、ディーゼルエンジンの出力が高出力運転領域にある場合において、連続再生から強制再生への切り替えを禁止することでエンジン音や出力特性の変化を防止し、オペレータが異常として誤認することを防ぐことが可能となる。また、ディーゼルエンジンの出力が高出力運転領域にない場合において、ディーゼルエンジンの出力に応じた強制再生を行なうことで突然のエンジン音や出力特性の変化を防止し、オペレータが異常として誤認することを防ぐことが可能となる。
本発明の第二の態様によれば、電子制御コントローラから送信される制御信号に基づいてディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するために、ディーゼルパティキュレートフィルタの再生制御を簡易なものとすることが可能となる。
本発明の第三の態様によれば、排気ガスの温度からディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するために、ディーゼルパティキュレートフィルタの再生制御を簡易なものとすることが可能となる。
本発明の第四の態様によれば、例えば繊細な作業を行なう場合に強制再生を人為的に中止することができ、エンジン音や出力特性の変化を防止し、オペレータが異常として誤認することを防ぐことが可能となる。

次に、発明の実施の形態を説明する。
図1に示すように、本発明の第一実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100は、直噴式直列4気筒のディーゼルエンジンであり、主にエンジン本体1と、排気浄化装置2と、電子制御コントローラ3とから構成される。そして、電子制御コントローラ3と電気的に接続された変更手段である表示パネル4は、例えば、ディーゼルエンジン100が作業車両に搭載される場合では運転席近傍に配置されてオペレータによって視認可能とされる。
まず、エンジン本体1の構成について詳細に説明する。なお、図中の矢印は吸入空気や再循環ガス、排気ガスについての流れの方向を示している。
エンジン本体1は、主にエンジン主体部11や燃料噴射ポンプ12、吸気通路13、排気通路14、EGR装置15等から構成される。エンジン本体1は、圧縮された空気に燃料を供給することによって燃焼させて、この燃焼による膨張エネルギーから回転動力を得る直噴式ディーゼルエンジンとされる。
エンジン主体部11は、主にシリンダブロック111やシリンダヘッド112等の本体部と、ピストン113やクランク軸114等の運動部とからなる。エンジン主体部11には、燃焼室がシリンダブロック111に設けられたシリンダ穴と、該シリンダ穴に摺動可能に内設されたピストン113と、該ピストン113に対向するように配置されたシリンダヘッド112とで構成される。そして、ピストン113は図示しないコネクティングロッドによってクランク軸114と連動連結されて、該ピストン113の摺動によってクランク軸114が回転駆動するものとされる。また、クランク軸114の回転は図示しない回転センサによって検出されて、電子制御コントローラ3へ送信される。
燃料噴射ポンプ12は、回転駆動されるクランク軸114からギヤ等を介して駆動されて、該燃料噴射ポンプ12に内設された図示しないプランジャバレルと該プランジャバレルに摺動可能に嵌挿されたプランジャとによって燃料噴射ノズル16へ燃料を圧送するものである。
なお、燃料噴射ノズル16は、その先端部をエンジン主体部11の燃焼室に突出するようにシリンダヘッド112に設けられており、電子制御コントローラ3からの制御信号を受けて一回又は複数回の燃料噴射を任意の時期に行なうことを可能としている。
吸気通路13は、エンジン主体部11の燃焼室に吸入空気を導く通路である。吸気通路13には、エアクリーナ131、吸気絞り132、吸気マニホールド133が空気の流れる方向に沿って順に設けられている。なお、吸気通路13には吸入空気量を計測するための流量センサや、吸入空気温度を計測するための温度センサ等も設けられることとなるが、本図では簡単のために省略している。
エアクリーナ131は、吸入された空気を濾紙又はスポンジ等を用いて濾過するものであり、これによって埃等の異物が燃焼室に混入することを防止している。
吸気絞り132は、例えばDCサーボモータによって駆動されるバタフライバルブを用いることで、エンジン主体部11の燃焼室へ供給される吸入空気量を調量するものである。つまり、吸気絞り132は、電子制御コントローラ3からの制御信号を受けてバタフライバルブの開度を調節し、吸気通路13の通路断面積を変化させることによって燃焼室へ供給される吸入空気量を調量可能とするものである。
吸気マニホールド133は、エアクリーナ131によって濾過された後に吸気絞り132によって調量された吸入空気を、それぞれの燃焼室に均等に配分するためのものである。本実施形態に係るエンジン本体1は直列に4箇所の燃焼室を備える、いわゆる直列4気筒エンジンであるために該吸気マニホールド133も4つの通路に分岐するように形成されてシリンダヘッド112に固設されている。
排気通路14は、エンジン主体部11から排出される排気ガスを後述する排気浄化装置2まで導く通路である。排気通路14には、排気マニホールド141、添加剤ノズル142、排気絞り143が排気ガスの流れる方向に沿って順に設けられている。
排気マニホールド141は、エンジン主体部11の各燃焼室から排出された排気ガスを集合させるものである。前述したように本実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100は直列4気筒エンジンであるために、該排気マニホールド141も4つの燃焼室から延びる通路を一つの通路に合流させる形状となっている。
添加剤ノズル142は、電子制御コントローラ3からの制御信号を受けて排気ガスに燃料を添加するものであり、その先端部が排気通路14の内部に突出するように設けられている。なお、エンジン本体1の出力に寄与しない時期に燃料噴射ノズル16から燃料を噴射することによって排気ガスに燃料を添加する、いわゆるポスト噴射を行なうように構成しても良く、添加剤としての燃料の供給方式について限定するものではない。
排気絞り143は、例えばDCサーボモータや圧力ダイヤフラムによって駆動されるバタフライバルブを用いることで、排気通路14の内部に生じる排気圧力を調整するものである。つまり、排気絞り143は、バタフライバルブの開度を調節し、排気通路14の通路断面積を変化させることによって排気圧力を調整可能とするものである。
EGR装置15は、排気マニホールド141から吸気マニホールド133へ排気ガスの一部を再循環ガスとして還元するものである。これにより、燃焼室に供給される吸入空気の酸素濃度を低減することができて、環境負荷物質である窒素酸化物の生成を抑制することが可能となる。また、EGR装置15の再循環ガス通路にはEGRバルブ151が備えられている。
EGRバルブ151は、例えばDCサーボモータやステップモータによって駆動される弁体を用いることで、吸気マニホールド133へ還元される再循環ガス量を調量するものである。つまり、EGRバルブ151は、電子制御コントローラ3からの制御信号を受けて弁体の開度を調節し、再循環ガス通路の通路断面積を変化させることによって再循環ガス量を調量可能とするものである。
次に、排気浄化装置2の構成について詳細に説明する。
排気浄化装置2は、排気ガスに含まれる粒子状物質を除去するものであり、主に酸化触媒担体(以降「DOC」という。)21やディーゼルパティキュレートフィルタ(以降「DPF」という。)22、差圧センサ23、温度センサ24で構成される。DOC21およびDPF22は、円筒形状の排気通路に内設されてDOC21が上流側に、DPF22が下流側に位置するように配置される。
DOC21は、排気ガスに含まれるCO(一酸化炭素)、HC(炭化水素)ならびに粒子状物質を構成するSOF(有機可溶成分)を酸化して除去するものである。また、DOC21は、排気ガスに多く含まれるNO(一酸化窒素)を酸化することによってNO2(二酸化窒素)に変化させたり、添加剤ノズル142から排気ガスに添加された燃料を酸化することによって排気ガス温度を上昇させたりすることも可能としている。
DPF22は、主に煤等からなる粒子状物質を捕集することで排気を濾過するとともに、捕集した粒子状物質を酸化して除去するものである。本実施形態においては、炭化ケイ素を基材としたDPF22が用いられており、排気ガスに含まれる粒子状物質は、DPF22に形成された微細な穴を通過する際に捕集されることとなる。このようにして捕集された粒子状物質は、排気ガスが酸化反応を進行させることができる温度(再生可能限界温度Trより高い温度)であることを条件として、排気ガスに含まれる酸素ならびにDOC21で生成されたNO2によって酸化されることとなる。
差圧センサ23は、DOC21よりも上流側に配置される上流側センサ23aと、DPF22よりも下流側に配置される下流側センサ23bとを備え、それぞれの測定値からDOC21およびDPF22の上流側と下流側の圧力差を検出するものである。
そして、差圧センサ23は、電子制御コントローラ3に時々刻々と検出結果を伝達するものとされる。これによって、電子制御コントローラ3は、DOC21およびDPF22の上流側と下流側の圧力差の経時変化を把握することができて、DPF22における粒子状物質の堆積量を推定することが可能とされる。
温度センサ24は、その先端部がDOC21とDPF22の間に位置するように排気通路に配置され、DPF22に導入される排気ガスの温度を測定するものである。そして、温度センサ24は、電子制御コントローラ3に時々刻々と検出結果を伝達するものとされる。電子制御コントローラ3は、この排気ガス温度を用いたフィードバック制御によって吸気絞り132等への最適な制御信号を作成する。
なお、本実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100では、排気浄化装置2よりも下流側に排気絞り25が配置されて、排気浄化装置2の内部に生じる排気圧力を適切に調整可能としている。
次に、電子制御コントローラ3について詳細に説明する。
電子制御コントローラ3は、主として中央処理装置、記憶装置等により構成される。電子制御コントローラ3は、排気浄化装置2に設けられた差圧センサ23や温度センサ24、そして、図示しないアクセルペダル等のエンジン出力設定手段と電気的に接続されて、これらからの電気信号に基づいて制御信号を作成するとともに前述した燃料噴射ノズル16等に制御信号を出力するものである。
なお、電子制御コントローラ3は、運転席等に配置された視覚通知手段である表示パネル4と電気的に接続されて、双方向に電気信号を伝達可能としている。図8に示すように、表示パネル4には、排気浄化装置2の状態に応じて点灯される再生指示ランプ41や再生中ランプ42、その他、ディーゼルエンジン100の制御について任意に操作可能とするボタン43・44等が配置される。
電子制御コントローラ3には、オペレータの要求に応じてエンジン本体1の運転を制御するとともにDPF22の強制再生等に必要とされる再生制御を行なうべく、燃料噴射マップ、EGRマップ、吸気絞りマップ、排気絞りマップ等の制御マップが記憶されている。また、エンジン主体部11の燃焼室に供給される燃料噴射量とエンジン回転数とからディーゼルエンジン100の出力を算出するための出力マップが記憶されている。
燃料噴射マップ等の各制御マップは、例えばオペレータが要求したエンジン回転数やトルクを確保したり、例えば粒子状物質の酸化に必要とされる排気ガス温度を確保したりするために、予め試験によって見出された最適な制御ファクターが記憶されたものである。そして、電子制御コントローラ3は、各マップから制御ファクターを呼出して制御信号を作成することによってディーゼルエンジン100を最適に制御可能としている。
以上のような構成において、ディーゼルエンジン100におけるDPF22の再生制御について図2から図4を用いて説明する。
図2はディーゼルエンジン100のエンジン回転数とトルクとの関係を示した出力特性図である。図3はディーゼルエンジン100の出力と吸気絞り132の開度との関係を示したものであり、図4はディーゼルエンジン100の出力と排気ガスの温度との関係を示したものである。なお、図中に示した破線は吸気絞り132を全開状態で固定し、吸入空気量を調量しなかった場合について示している。
図2に示すように、ディーゼルエンジン100のエンジン回転数は、ローアイドル回転数Nminからハイアイドル回転数Nmaxまで任意に変更可能とされる。そして、ディーゼルエンジン100は、エンジン回転数ごとに設定された最大トルクを結ぶ最大トルクカーブTcurveに囲まれた範囲内で運転可能とされる。
エンジン回転数とトルクとの関数であるディーゼルエンジン100の出力は、ディーゼルエンジン100の運転状態に基づいて、即ちエンジン主体部11の燃焼室に供給される燃料噴射量とエンジン回転数とに基づいて電子制御コントローラ3によって算出される。
具体的には、電子制御コントローラ3は、前述した燃料噴射マップを参照することによって燃料噴射ノズル16から燃焼室に供給される燃料噴射量を把握し、この燃料噴射量とエンジン回転数とから出力マップを用いて出力を算出する。なお、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力は、図2における点P1において最大となる。
また、本発明に係るディーゼルエンジン100においては、図中に示した出力境界値Ptr以上の出力となる運転領域(図示右上方側)を高出力運転領域、出力境界値Ptr未満の出力となる運転領域(図示左下方側)を低出力運転領域と定義している。なお、出力境界値Ptrは、ディーゼルエンジン100の使用条件等から試験によって定められる値であり、具値的な数値について限定するものではない。
本発明の第一実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100では、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が出力境界値Ptrより高い場合、即ちディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合においては、DPF22に堆積している粒子状物質を酸化させるための再生制御を行なわないものとされる。つまり、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合には強制再生を行なわず、常に連続再生を維持する。従って、吸気絞り132や排気絞り134・25、燃料噴射ノズル16等には、粒子状物質を酸化させるための再生制御を禁止する旨の制御信号が出力される。
具体的には、図3に示すように、吸気絞り132に対して開度を全開状態に保持することで吸入空気量の調量を禁止する旨の制御信号を出力し、燃焼室に供給される吸入空気量を最大とする。また、排気絞り143・25に対しては開度を全開状態に保持することで排気圧力の調整を禁止する旨の制御信号を出力し、排気ガスを円滑に排出可能とする。更に、燃料噴射ノズル16に対しては通常運転用の燃料噴射マップに基づいて制御信号が出力される。
このように制御を行なうことで、図4に示すように、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合の排気ガスの温度は、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力の減少に伴って大きく低下することとなるが、再生可能限界温度Trより低くなることはない。そのため、DPF22は常に連続再生を維持することが可能とされる。
これにより、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合においては、連続再生から強制再生への切り替えによるエンジン音や出力特性の変化を防止できて、オペレータが異常として誤認することを防ぐことが可能となる。
一方、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が出力境界値Ptrより低い場合、即ちディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合においては、DPF22に堆積している粒子状物質を酸化させるための再生制御を行なうものとされる。つまり、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合には強制再生を行なう。従って、吸気絞り132や排気絞り134・25、燃料噴射ノズル16、添加剤ノズル142等には、粒子状物質を酸化させるための再生制御を行なう旨の制御信号が出力される。
具体的には、図3に示すように、吸気絞り132に対してディーゼルエンジン100の出力に応じた開度まで閉弁することで吸入空気量の調量を行なう旨の制御信号を出力し、燃焼室に供給される吸入空気量を制限させる。また、排気絞り143・25に対しては適切な開度まで閉弁することで排気圧力の調整を行なう旨の制御信号を出力し、排気ガスの排出を制限させる。更に、燃料噴射ノズル16に対しては強制再生用の燃料噴射マップに基づいて制御信号を出力することで燃料噴射パターン等を変更するとともに、添加剤ノズル142に対しては適当な時期に適量の燃料を添加するように制御信号を出力する。
このような制御による効果を詳細に説明すると、エンジン主体部11の燃焼室に供給される吸入空気量を制限するとともに燃料噴射パターン等を変更することによって、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力に対する排気ガスの温度を上昇させることが可能となる。更に、添加剤ノズル142によって排気ガス中に添加された燃料をDOC21に酸化させることで、強制的に排気ガス温度を上昇させることが可能となる。なお、エンジン本体1から排出される排気ガス量に応じて排気絞り143・25の開度を変更することで最適な排気圧力を確保することができる。
このように制御を行なうことで、図4に示すように、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合においても排気ガスの温度が再生可能限界温度Trより低くならず、DPF22を再生させることが可能となる。
なお、本発明の第一実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100は、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合に連続再生から強制再生へ切り替えることを禁止することを特徴とするとともに、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合には該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力に応じた再生制御を行なうものとしている。
従って、出力境界値Ptrを比較的に低出力側に設定した場合では、図5に示すように、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域から低出力運転領域へ移行したときに吸気絞り132の開度を所定の開度まで即座に閉弁させて、その後にディーゼルエンジン100の出力に応じた再生制御を行なうものとしても良い。こうすることで、エンジン音や出力特性に変化が生じない高出力運転領域を広く確保することができるとともに低出力運転領域において排気ガス温度を一時的に上昇させることが可能となり、DPF22の再生を良好に行なうことが可能となる(図6参照。)。
次に、本発明の第二実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100の再生制御について、図7を用いて説明する。図7は本実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100の出力と排気ガスの温度との関係を示したものである。
本発明の第二実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン100では、図7に示すように、高出力運転領域と低出力運転領域を定めるための排気ガス温度境界値Ttrが定義されている。これは、温度センサ24によって検出された排気ガス温度が、排気ガス温度境界値Ttr以上となる運転領域(図示上方側)を高出力運転領域、排気ガス温度境界値Ttr未満となる運転領域(図示下方側)を低出力運転領域と定義するものである。
なお、本実施形態におけるディーゼルエンジン100においては、温度センサ24により検出された排気ガス温度の値を用いて、電子制御コントローラ3によって出力を算出するものとされる。そして、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にある場合には連続再生を維持するものとされ、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合には該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力に応じた再生制御を行なうものとされる。
これにより、DPF22に導入される排気ガスの温度によってディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域にあるか否かを判断できるために、DPF22の再生制御を簡易なものとすることが可能となる。
また、本発明に係るディーゼルエンジン100では、図8に示すように、表示パネル4に設けられた強制再生中止ボタン43を操作することによって強制再生を任意に中止可能としている。これにより、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が低出力運転領域にある場合においても、該ディーゼルエンジン100の使用状況等に応じて強制再生を中止することができ、例えば繊細な作業を行なう場合においてエンジン音や出力特性の変化を防止することが可能となる。
そして、表示パネル4に設けられた強制再生実行ボタン44を操作することによって強制再生を任意に実行することができ、繊細な作業が終了した後に再生制御を行なうことなどによって、運転操作性を向上させている。
なお、ディーゼルエンジン100の出力が高出力運転領域から低出力運転領域に移行した場合に、該ディーゼルエンジン100の出力に応じた強制再生に自動で切り替えるか、又はオペレータが強制再生実行ボタン44を操作することによって切り替えるかを選択する切り替えスイッチ45が設けられており、これによって、更なる運転操作性の向上を図ることが可能とされている。
本発明は、ディーゼルエンジンに利用可能である。
Claims (4)
- 排気ガスに含まれる粒子状物質を捕集するとともに酸化させるディーゼルパティキュレートフィルタが設けられたディーゼルエンジンにおいて、
前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するとともに、前記ディーゼルパティキュレートフィルタに堆積している粒子状物質を酸化させるための再生制御を行なう電子制御コントローラを備え、
前記電子制御コントローラは、前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力が高出力運転領域にあるときに前記再生制御を禁止し、
前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力が高出力運転領域にないときに前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力に応じた前記再生制御を行なう、ことを特徴とするディーゼルエンジン。 - 前記電子制御コントローラは、前記ディーゼルエンジンの運転状態に基づいて前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するように構成する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のディーゼルエンジン。
- 排気ガスの温度を検出する温度センサを備え、
前記電子制御コントローラは、前記温度センサにより検出された排気ガスの温度から前記ディーゼルエンジンの出力を算出するように構成する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のディーゼルエンジン。 - 前記電子制御コントローラは、手動操作によって前記再生制御を中止または実行することを可能とする、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のディーゼルエンジン。
