For example, if the value of k obtained from the above equation (8) is “0.1” and the number N of data of the first coefficient k 1 is “32”, “0.1” is obtained. “3” obtained by rounding down the decimal part of “3.2”, which is the product of “32”, is an index i when the weighting coefficient calculation unit 140 refers to the lookup table. However, when the value of k is “1”, the product of “1” and “32” is “32” even though the maximum value of the index i is “31”. - the memory color and the chromaticity coordinates of D65 are included in the boundary line 43, but the present invention is not limited to this.
- the color that should be displayed faithfully to the input video signal as well as the memory color and the chromaticity coordinates of D65 may be included in the boundary line 43, or a reference white other than D65 (such as D93) ) Chromaticity coordinates may be included in the boundary line 43.
- the xy chromaticity diagram is used to calculate the weighting coefficient k, but the present invention is not limited to this.
- the weighting coefficient k can also be calculated by using the uv chromaticity diagram instead of the xy chromaticity diagram.

RWB=GainR×RIN ・・・(13)
GWB=GainG×GIN ・・・(14)
BWB=GainB×BIN ・・・(15)
RS=SR×RIN ・・・(18)
GS=SG×GIN ・・・(19)
BS=SB×BIN ・・・(20)
k1=k ・・・(22)
k1=1-e-kλ ・・・(23)
k1[i]=1-e-iλ ・・・(24)
u=4X/(X+15Y+3Z) ・・・(25)
v=6Y/(X+15Y+3Z) ・・・(26)
例えば、EBU(Europea Broadcasting Union:ヨーロッパ放送連合)規格やNTSC(National Television System Committee:全米テレビジョン放送方式標準化委員会)規格などHDTV規格以外の規格のRGB信号が外部から表示装置10に与えられる構成にも本発明を適用することができる。
