Abstract

 本発明は、低駆動電圧化の課題と歩留まり向上という課題とのトレードオフを解消する構造を有する有機EL素子の提供を目的とする。本発明の有機EL素子は、基板と、基板上に設けられた一対の電極と、一対の電極に挟持される有機EL層とを含み、一対の電極は陽極および陰極を含み、有機EL層は、発光層と、陽極と接触する正孔注入層とを少なくとも含み、正孔注入層はn型半導体ホスト材料とp型半導体ゲスト材料からなり、ホスト材料のLUMO準位EHICとゲスト材料のHOMO準位または価電子帯準位EGVが、|EHIC|+0.5eV≧|EGV|>|EHIC|-0.6eVを満たすことを特徴とする。
