Abstract

In order to provide electromagnetic brake and/or stirring systems that are smaller but have the same output and to equip the same with an exterior mechanical protection against influences from the casting process in strand casting molds (1) of a strand casting system for casting fluid metals, particularly of fluid steel materials for producing slab and thin slab products with dimensional widths of 750-3500 mm, which are equipped with an electromagnetic brake and/or with an electromagnetic stirrer for improving the product quality by influencing the flow ratios within the fluid metal, the invention proposes that at least the magnetic coils (10) or the coil system of the electromagnetic brake and/or of the electromagnetic stirrer be completely integrated into the mold water tanks (3).
