Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve in the mold for continuous casting the improvement in the electrical efficiency of electromagnetic rabbling by providing a high-frequency oscillation applying mechanism and an electromagnetic rabbling device of molten metal in combination and constructing the mold with a low electric conductivity metal material. CONSTITUTION:In a mold 1 for continuous casting, the mold 1 is constructed with, for example, ferritic stainless steel which is a low electric conductivity metal material, and a high-frequency oscillator 2 is provided near the meniscus of molten steel by way of a horn 4. A known electromagnetic rabbling device 3 is provided in combination, in the desired lower part of the mold 1 and is housed in a cooling water box 5. A cooling water inlet 7, outlet 8, etc. are built therein. The constitution such as the one mentioned above makes high-frequency oscillation rate about 1.5-2 times higher than a copper mold and has made possible the industrial utilization of Ni, Ni alloys, stainless steels, etc. having heat conductivity of about <=1/2 that of pure copper of low reliability as conventional mold materials.
