Abstract

A water-repellent or antifouling article is provided which is excellent in water repellency and slipping properties (waterdrop repellency), has durability which enables these properties to last over a long period of time. The article further has wearing resistance and marring resistance. Also provided are a window glass for buildings, a window glass for vehicles, a display member, and an optical part all employing the water-repellent or antifouling article. The water-repellent or antifouling article is characterized by comprising a base and a primer layer containing an inorganic material in the form of particles or particle aggregates and formed on a surface of the base by the atmospheric-pressure plasma method, the primer layer having been coated or impregnated with a water-repellent or antifouling material.
