Abstract

A protective structure for an imaging device for confirming the safety around a vehicle protects a lens (8) of an imaging device so that rain water, snow, mud, dust, oil, etc. do not adhere to the lens (8). A hole (2) is formed in the outer surface of a vehicle body, or a direction indicator (17), or a head lamp (18), or a side lamp (19), or a housing (21) receiving a reverse light (20), or a front cover (22) of the housing (21), or a streamlined container (15). The lens (8) of the imaging device is mounted in the hole (2) with a front surface (9) of the lens (8) slightly set back inward in the vehicle body and with a gap (7) maintained between the hole (2) and the front face (9) of the lens (8) of the imaging device. The gap (7) is used as a gas ejection opening (5). Gas (6) ejected from the gas ejection opening (5) is blasted to the lens (8) of the imaging device to protect the lens (8) in such a way that rain water, snow, mud, dust, etc. do not adhere to the lens (8). A video image captured by the imaging device is viewed on a video device placed in front of a driver.
