Abstract

　本発明は、容易に製造することができ、且つ発光特性及び寿命特性が良好な有機ＥＬ素子、及びその製造方法を提供することを目的とする。 　すなわち、本発明は、陽極、発光層、陰極、及び前記陽極と前記発光層との間に正孔注入層として金属酸化物層を有する有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であって、前記金属酸化物層が：（Ａ）素子を構成する他の層上に金属酸化物を堆積して未処理金属酸化物層を得る工程；及び（Ｂ）酸素原子を含む雰囲気下で、前記未処理金属酸化物層の表面にエネルギーを加える表面処理工程により得られる層である有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子、並びにその製造方法を提供する。
