Definitions

  • Patent document PCT2004EP004634 describes an approach in which the smokers are heated and the heat should be released to the air.
  • this principle is practically not feasible, since the entire energy required must be supplied to the smoking appliance before use and stored as heat energy.
  • the Rauchersnier issued in the form and
  • the size of a tobacco cigarette would need to be heated extremely high to maintain sufficient heat for the entire useful life of about 3 minutes, so that the entire amount of air of all trains (inhalations) can be sufficiently heated.
  • Gases in general, as well as gas mixtures such as air have the highest thermal resistances occurring in nature, e.g. four orders of magnitude higher than that of metals. So it always takes a much higher energy expenditure to heat air to the same extent as solids.
  • heat has to be generated during and not before use, as with a tobacco cigarette.
  • Solutions are the basis to meet the most important practical requirements of a smoke-free cigarette, since the heating element in the smoker's device is brought to the working temperature only at the moment of inhalation, which is comparable to the functioning of a tobacco cigarette.
  • the energy storage provides only during the duration of the train on the cigarette (about 2..3 seconds) the energy needed to heat the air, comparable to the tobacco embers, the temperature during the train by increased oxygen supply of about 500 0 C over 1000 0 C increases. If the heating element is designed so that it reaches about 1000 0 C with sufficient Schuelementober Design, so this is sufficient for the guided past the heating element air at least 80 0 C to give.
  • the lithium-ion or lithium polymer technology allows energy densities of 250 to 350 Wh / 1. Converted to a volume of about 2 ml available in the smoking appliance, a theoretical maximum power of 5 0.7 Wh is available, which must almost completely benefit the electric heating element. Empirical tests have revealed that heating elements from 5W are suitable for power
  • an energy storage in the form of a rechargeable battery in lithium-ion technology covers a practically usable voltage range of 3.0V to 4.2V, within which it releases its energy reserves.
  • Another disadvantage is that the amount of power to be delivered is temperature-dependent. At an ambient temperature of 0 ° C, the capacity 0 of the battery drops to about 90% of the rated capacity, at -2O 0 C to about 80%. By a heavy load on the battery, for example, with twice the rated capacity, the total capacity further decreases by about 20%. Here, however, a load of seven times the rated capacity is used.
