Abstract

　ＩＰＳ方式・ｅモードのカラー液晶パネルであって、斜め方向のコントラストを改善したマルチギャップ構造を有する液晶パネルを提供する。 　液晶セル１０のカラーフィルタ６側に第１の偏光子１が配置されるとともに、液晶セル１０の液晶層５側に第２の偏光子８が配置されている。また、第１の偏光子１と液晶セル１０との間には位相差フィルム２が配置されている。液晶セル１０は視認側のガラス基板３にカラーフィルタ６を積層し、更に液晶層５を挟み込むようにガラス基板７を配している。ここで、液晶層５の厚みは青色のカラーフィルタ６Ｂに接触する領域の厚みｄＢが最も小さく、緑色のカラーフィルタ６Ｇに接触する領域の厚みｄＧ、赤色のカラーフィルタ６Ｒに接触する領域の厚みｄＲの順に大きくなる。即ち、カラーフィルタ６の色ごとに液晶層５の厚みが異なるマルチギャップ構造をとっている。
