Abstract

 IPS方式・eモードのカラー液晶パネルであって、斜め方向のコントラストを改善したマルチギャップ構造を有する液晶パネルを提供する。  液晶セル10のカラーフィルタ6側に第1の偏光子1が配置されるとともに、液晶セル10の液晶層5側に第2の偏光子8が配置されている。また、第1の偏光子1と液晶セル10との間には位相差フィルム2が配置されている。液晶セル10は視認側のガラス基板3にカラーフィルタ6を積層し、更に液晶層5を挟み込むようにガラス基板7を配している。ここで、液晶層5の厚みは青色のカラーフィルタ6Bに接触する領域の厚みdBが最も小さく、緑色のカラーフィルタ6Gに接触する領域の厚みdG、赤色のカラーフィルタ6Rに接触する領域の厚みdRの順に大きくなる。即ち、カラーフィルタ6の色ごとに液晶層5の厚みが異なるマルチギャップ構造をとっている。
