Abstract

コストダウンを図りながら、導光板の端部付近における光量の低下を抑制し、かつ、光の利用効率を向上させることが可能なバックライトユニットを提供する。このバックライトユニット(10、30、40、50)は、フレーム(1、41、51)の内部に設けられた導光板(3)と、フレームの内部に設けられ、導光板の光入射面(3a)と対向するように互いに所定の間隔を隔てて配列された複数の発光ダイオード(4)とを備えている。そして、導光板の光入射面の端部(3g)と対向する領域には、発光ダイオードが配置されておらず、発光ダイオードからの出射光を導光板の光入射面に向かって反射する反射面(1f、41g、31a、57a)が設けられている。
