Abstract
Disclosed is a hydrogen production method. The method is achieved by employing an autothermal reforming reaction that can cause a partial oxidation reforming reaction and a steam reforming reaction in parallel in the interior of a reforming reactor (1) that is used for producing a hydrogen-containing reforming gas from a mixed raw material comprising a vaporized hydrocarbon raw material, oxygen and water. The reforming reactor (1) comprises: a first zone (41) which has a given gas flow path and contains a first catalyst for mainly causing a partial oxidation reforming reaction (an exothermic reaction); and a second zone (42) which has a given gas flow path and contains a second catalyst for mainly causing a steam reforming reaction (an endothermic reaction). The first zone (41) and the second zone (42) are arranged adjacently on opposite sides of a thermally conductive inner tube (3). The first catalyst is charged in a space below the intermediate position of the first zone (41).
