Abstract
低温で容易に焼結すると共に、1500°Cで3時間の焼結条件での焼結嵩密度が3.90g/cm3以上であって、焼結時の密度変化が極めて低い焼結特性に優れた良焼結性αアルミナ及びその製造方法を提供する。 バイヤー法で得られた水酸化アルミニウムを焼成して製造されるαアルミナであって、1500°Cで3時間の焼結条件での焼結嵩密度(焼結後試料の質量/焼結後試料の体積)Aが3.90g/cm3以上であり、かつ、この焼結嵩密度Aと1600°Cで3時間の焼結条件での焼結嵩密度Bとの間の密度変化率{[(B-A)/A]×100}が1%以下である良焼結性αアルミナであり、ソーダ分含有量0.1質量%以下の水酸化アルミニウムを定置型焼成炉の炉内に仕込み嵩密度1.0g/cm3以下の条件で仕込み、焼成し粉砕して製造される。
