Abstract
本発明は、黒化銀を白化した際に消え残り現象による表示ムラが生じない優れた表示素子を提供する。この表示素子は、対向電極間に、少なくとも銀または銀を化学構造中に含む化合物を含有する電解質層を有し、銀の溶解析出を生じさせるように該対向電極の駆動操作を行う表示素子であって、 該対向電極間に多孔質白色散乱層を有し、該多孔質白色散乱層は表示側電極に接するように配置され、該電解質層は、含有する該銀または銀を化学構造中に含む化合物の酸化反応速度の1/5倍以上、5倍以下の還元反応速度を有するフェノチアジン化合物、ジアジン化合物、ビオロゲン化合物及びメタロセン化合物から選ばれる少なくとも1種の酸化還元反応性化合物を含有することを特徴とする。
