Abstract

 階調数が増加しても表示駆動制御回路を小型且つ安価とすることができる画像表示方法および装置を提供する。 多階調を表す表示データDが、それを構成するビット列のうち複数のビットを含む第1ビット群と、そのビット列のうちその第1ビット群を構成するビットを除く複数ビットを含む第2ビット群とに分割されて入力端子に交互に供給され、所定の発光体(22)に繰り返し割り当てられる発光制御区間内に設定された第1区間K1において、第1ビット群に対応する輝度階調で所定の発光体(22)を発光させ、さらに、発光制御区間内の第2区間K2において、第2ビット群に対応する相対的に細かな輝度階調でその所定の発光体(22)を発光させる。階調数が増加しても表示駆動制御回路(30)を小型且つ安価なものとすることができる。
