Abstract
本発明は、クラッドの屈折率以下の屈折率を持つ第1コアと、該第1コアを囲んで設けられ第1コアの屈折率未満の屈折率を持つ第2コアと、該第2コアを囲むクラッドと、該クラッドの第2コア近傍に設けられ、クラッドの屈折率よりも屈折率が高屈折率部が周期構造をなして構成された周期構造部と、を備え、前記周期構造は、少なくとも使用波長の基本モードの伝搬定数がフォトニックバンドギャップ中にあり、前記使用波長の高次モードの伝搬定数が前記フォトニックバンドギャップの外にあるフォトニックバンドギャップファイバに関する。
