Abstract

 エンジンのシリンダヘッド10にポート11が形成されている。ポート11は弁15によって開閉される。弁ばね装置16は、第1のばね41と第2のばね42を備えている。第2のばね42はハウジング50に収納され、軸線X方向に圧縮された状態、すなわち予荷重が与えられた状態で、ストッパ52によって保持されている。第2のばね42の前記予荷重は、第1のばね41の取付け荷重よりも大きい。ばね41,42に軸荷重Pが加わる。弁ばね装置16の荷重-撓み特性は、軸荷重Pが所定値以下のときに第1のばね41のみが前記軸線方向に撓み、軸荷重Pが前記所定値を越えたときに第1のばね41と第2のばね42の双方が前記軸線方向に撓む特性である。
