Abstract

Une quantité d'injection de carburant est commandée de telle sorte que le rapport air-carburant du gaz d'échappement s'écoulant dans un catalyseur (6) oscille autour d'un rapport air-carburant stoechiométrique. Lorsqu'il est estimé que le niveau de capacité de stockage d'oxygène du catalyseur (6) est inférieur à une capacité de référence prédéterminée, l'amplitude du rapport air-carburant du gaz d'échappement qui oscille autour du rapport air-carburant stoechiométrique est réduite par commande de la quantité d'injection de carburant. Le niveau de la capacité de stockage d'oxygène du catalyseur (6) est estimé sur la base de l'amplitude du signal de sortie provenant d'un détecteur d'oxygène (14) disposé en aval du catalyseur (6).
