Description

APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING AND MANAGING A GAME WITH A BALL MOVABLE IN A DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT
Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling and managing a game with a ball movable in a direction of movement.
A game which is known in the sector of group recreational activities is the so-called "penalty game" which is played indoors or outdoors and involves at least two players who assume, alternately, the role of attacker, who kicks the ball at the goal, and goalkeeper, who has to save the shot.
It is also known that the players decide in advance the size of the pitch and the goal, the shooting distance, the change-over rules and, if necessary, a maximum speed of the ball which is permitted depending on the shooting distance and/or the size of the goal and/or the physical characteristics and skill of the players.
The main problem which is associated with this game consists in the substantial impossibility of being able to verify in a precise and objective manner the speed of the ball which is kicked towards the goal, this normally resulting in arguments and disagreement among the players, in particular if there are many of them.
The technical problem which is posed, therefore, is to provide an apparatus which is able to program and manage the so-called "penalty game" or similar equivalent game where a ball must be kicked at a controlled speed in an objective, repeatable and reliable manner. In connection with this problem it is also required that this apparatus should also allow the management of different game parameters, such as, for example, the change-over between penalty taker and goalkeeper, the points scored by each player, and the like.
In addition to this, the apparatus must be light and have compact dimensions so as to facilitate transportation thereof, be inexpensive to produce and assemble and be able to be easily assembled and disassembled at the place of use by any user, even without specialized skills.
These results are achieved according to the present invention by an apparatus for managing a game with a ball to be kicked in a direction of movement, comprising at least one device for detecting the speed of the ball and at least one control and programming device provided with means able to receive the signals emitted by the speed detection device and means able to process said signals and display the processing results .
Further details may be obtained from the following description of a non- limiting example of embodiment of the subject of the present invention provided with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective view of a playing pitch with control apparatus according to the present invention;
- Figure 2 shows a view of the programming and display board of the apparatus according to Fig. 1; Figure 3 shows a block diagram of a preferred embodiment of the circuit diagram of the apparatus according to the invention;
- Figure 4 shows a view of the board with a second embodiment of the devices for detecting the speed of the ball; and
- Figure 5 shows a view of the board with a further embodiment of the devices for detecting the speed of the ball.
As shown in Fig. 1 and assuming solely for the sake of convenience of the description without a limiting meaning, a set of three reference axes, i.e. in the longitudinal direction X-X, transverse direction Y-Y and vertical direction Z-Z, respectively, the apparatus according to the present invention comprises essentially:
- a device 100 for detecting the speed of the ball 1 kicked towards the goal 2 by the player indicated by the arrow 3 ; and
- a control and programming device 1000 able to receive the signals emitted by the speed detection device 100, process said signals and display the results of processing on a board 1003.
In greater detail said device 100 for detecting the speed of the ball 1 comprises at least one first pair 110 and at least one second pair 120 of uprights 111,112 and 121,122 on which corresponding sensors 113,123 and reflecting parts 114,124 are arranged. The two pairs 110,120 of uprights are arranged facing each other in the transverse direction Y-Y and alongside each other in the longitudinal direction X-X, parallel to the trajectory of the ball 1, so that the sensors 113 of the first pair 110 start detection and the sensors 123 of the second pair 120 stop detection.
Once the ball 1 has correctly passed through the grid formed by the rays 110a, 120a emitted by the sensors 113,123 and returned by the reflectors 114,124, the two signals, i.e. start signal 1001 and end signal 10OF, are sent to corresponding processing means of the control and processing device 1000 which, by means of a central control unit (CPU) 1001, determines the actual speed of the ball 1, sending the processed value to means for comparing it with the value MAX SPEED previously established by the players and stored in a cell of the memory 1005 of the apparatus.
If the speed recorded, REC. SPEED, is less than/equal to the MAX SPEED set, the control unit will emit an enable signal, for example a luminous signal in the form of a green light; if, on the other hand, the value REC. SPEED is greater than the MAX SPEED set, then the control unit will emit an error signal which will negatively affect the score of the player who took the shot, depending on rules of the game applicable at that moment, it also being envisaged that the MAX SPEED may be determined for each individual player so that, for example, a system of "handicaps" may be introduced.
The score board 1003 is correspondingly provided with means 1015 for displaying the speed recorded. In order to allow complete management of the game, the control device 1000 also comprises (Figs. 2 and 3) :
- power supply means 1010 consisting of a rechargeable battery 1011 which can be connected to the electric mains by means of an associated cable 1012; in a preferred embodiment said battery 1011 is fixed to a support upright 1002 of the apparatus;
- means 1100 for switching ON/OFF the apparatus, which are arranged on the front panel of the apparatus and can be operated by the players;
- means 1200 for selecting different operating modes of the apparatus and able to activate at least one mode
PLAY and at least one mode PROG for programming the game parameters ;
means 1300 able to program the game conditions prechosen by the players and comprising buttons 1300a and 1300b for increasing/decreasing the values of the programmable game parameters and consisting for example of the following:
1301 = Number of players; 1302 = Max. number of shots;
1303 = Max. score; 1304 = Max. speed; 1305 = Max. shooting time,-
said game parameter values are stored in corresponding memory cells and in each case retrieved by the CPU in order to process the game data and signal positive/negative events correspondingly occurring depending on the prechosen rules for the game ;
- means 1400 able to be manually operated by the players, or by a designated referee, and able to determine the sending of enable commands of various kinds to the CPU for management of the game; according to a preferred embodiment these means 1400 consist, for example, of four buttons, i.e. 140I=OUT confirming a missed shot; 1402=GOAL confirming that the ball has entered the goal; 1403=SAVE confirming that the ball has been saved by the goalkeeper; and 1404=UNDO for cancelling a previous incorrect selection; in this way at the end of each shot the player presses the button corresponding to the event which has occurred, enabling subsequent processing of the signal by the CPU by means of associated processing means 1600 described below;
- means 1500 for processing the sequence of play, incorporated in the CPU 1001 and able to determine at any time the player who must shoot, the player who has to save and the player who must be ready to shoot; said processing means 1500 are enabled for processing by the abovementioned means 1400 for confirming the result of the shot and are associated with corresponding display cells 1501,1502,1503 provided on the front panel of the apparatus and showing the corresponding information in real time; according to a preferred embodiment the score board also has a display cell 1504 for the shots remaining until the end of the game, associated with corresponding data processing means,-
- means 1600 for processing the score of each player 1, ...,N, able to retrieve from a corresponding memory location the score information stored in accordance with the game rules and updated by operation of the confirmation means 1400; following said enable signal, the score processing means 1600 retrieve the information relating to the player 1, ... ,N who is shooting and the player who is the goalkeeper at that moment and updates the score according to the result which is confirmed (OUT/GOAL/SAVED) .
Said means are in turn associated with means 1610 for displaying the score of each player provided on the front panel of the apparatus;
- means 1700 for starting management of the game, to be operated after all the game parameters have been entered and stored;
- means 1800 for resetting the current conditions and starting a new game.
According to a preferred embodiment it is also envisaged that the apparatus comprises time-keeping means 1900 which are started by means of an associated pushbutton operated by the said player, or by another person, able to perform a count-down, compare the value with the maximum stored time value entered by means of the buttons 1300a, 1300b and emit a signal indicating that the maximum time limit has been reached with consequences determined by the rules.
The time information is displayed in the same speed display cell 1015A, there being envisaged two indicator lamps 1015B and 1015C which are lit alternately and able to indicate which parameter is displayed at that moment .
According to preferred embodiments it is also envisaged that said control and programming device 1000 comprises means 1020 for connection to external peripherals, so as to allow, for example, the final data for a game to be transmitted to a centralized database, and/or means 1030 for emitting sound signals.
As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, variations of embodiment of the devices which form the apparatus are also envisaged; in particular Fig. 4 shows a simplified form of a device 4100 for detecting the speed of the ball, which in this case comprises a double series of sensors 4113,4123 which are mounted on a single panel 4111 and reflectors 4114,4124 mounted on a single upright 4112.
Fig. 5 shows instead a speed detection device 5100 comprising means 5110 of the radar, laser or similar type which do not require reflection in order to determine the start and the end of detection, the second opposite upright being dispensed with in exchange for obtaining lightness and simplicity of installation of the apparatus.
The same Fig. 4 also shows a remote control device 6000 containing the buttons 1400 for confirming the outcome of the shot; in this case the processing device will comprise means for receiving the remote control signal which allows remote management of the board; the display board may also be of the LCD type with touch controls .
It is therefore clear how with the apparatus according to the present invention it is possible to achieve effective control over the speed of the ball and the game parameters associated with execution thereof depending on the corresponding rules determined by the players .
