  • the pendulum switch 11 is pivotally mounted about axis 16. When the pendulum switch 11 is in its normal or neutral position as shown in Fig. 1 where the roller (not shown) is not tilted, the operating fingers 14 and 15 are clear of inductive pick ups 17 and 18 respectively.
  • the inductive pick ups 17 and 18 are electrically connected to a maximum oscillation variable timer relay 19 which in turn is connected to an alarm and warning light relay 20 that is adapted to energise the warning light 21 and/or the audible alarm 22.
  • a central inductive pick up 23 which operates the vibration interrupt circuit.
  • the central pick up 23 is electrically connected to the vibration cut-out variable timer relay 24 which in turn is connected to the vibration interrupt relay 25.
  • the pendulum switch 11 is mounted at the articulation point of the vibratory roller to sense the transverse tilt angle of the front section of the vibratory roller.
  • the angle of tilt is sensed in two stages. In the first stage, a tilt angle between 5° to 15° (depending on the model of the roller) activates the audible alarm 22 and the warning light 21 mounted adjacent the operator to warn the operator that the front of the roller has reached a dangerous tilt angle. In the second stage, when the tilt angle is between 5° to 15° (depending on the model of roller), the vibration interrupt relay 24 (which is wired into the roller vibration circuit) shuts down the vibration mechanism of the roller reducing the slide effect of the slope to further warn the operator of a critical tilt angle.

Abstract
