発明を実施するための最良の形態
以下、図面を参照しながら、自動車 (乗用車)に本発明を適用した場合の、本発明 の一実施形態について具体的に説明する。なお、本発明の適用対象は自動車のみ に限定されない。本発明は、自動車の他にも、自動二輪車、自動三輪車、特殊車両 、鉄道車両その他の路面車両、水陸両用車、航空機、または船舶等の、種々の乗り 物 (移動手段または移送手段)に適用することが可能である。さらに、上述のような移 動または移送を主目的とする乗り物に限らず、上述した各種の乗り物の操縦を疑似 体験させるシミュレータにも本発明を適用可能である。本願では、上述したような乗り 物やシミュレータ等を包括して「移動体」と称する。
[0022] 図 2は、本実施形態に力かる車両等用情報表示システムを組み込んだ自動車用コ ックピットモジュール (操縦席用モジュール)の概観を示す正面図である。図 2に示す ように、本実施形態にかかる自動車用コックピットモジュール 10は、スピードメータや タコメータ等の旧来のアナログ計器や、 LED等で構成されて 、たインジケータランプ 等を含む旧来の自動車用計器盤の代わりに、自動車用計器盤の合成画像を表示す る液晶表示装置 11を備えている。
[0023] なお、液晶表示装置 11は、旧来の自動車においても多く用いられていたセグメント 方式の液晶表示器ではなぐドットマトリクス方式の液晶パネルディスプレイ装置であ る。液晶表示装置 11は、任意のパターンの画像を表示することが可能であるので、 各種の計器やインジケータランプ等の各種要素画像を組み合わせた合成画像を表 示することにより、自動車用情報表示装置として機能する。また、液晶表示装置 11に は、計器盤の画像だけでなぐ自動車の後部または側方に設置された車載カメラによ る撮影画像や、ナビゲーシヨン画像、あるいはテレビジョン放送の受信画像や車載 D VDプレイヤ等の再生画像等を併せて表示することも可能である。

[0035] MENによって特定されるそれぞれのレイアウトは、液晶表示装置 11の表示画面に おいて、どの部分にどのような画像を表示すべきかを定義するものである。本実施形 態の自動車用情報表示システムでは、状態情報 Dの内容から判断される様々な状況 に対して、互いに異なる MENの値を定義しておくことにより、その時の自動車の状況 に応じた適切な情報表示を実現する。
[0036] 例えば、自動車が走行している場合は、スピードメータゃタコメータの表示が必要で あるが、エンジンを切って停止している場合は、それらのメータの表示は不要であり、 むしろ、ナビゲーシヨン画像等が必要とされることが多い。従って、前者の場合は、例 えばスピードメータゃタコメータ等の計器類を表示するレイアウトを用いる力 後者の 場合は、メータ類を表示せず、ナビゲーシヨン画像等を表示する領域が大きく確保さ れたレイアウトを用いることが好ましい。また、例えば、自動車の後方や側方に、車外 の様子を撮影可能なカメラが備え付けられて ヽる車種の場合は、後進や縦列駐車の 際に、それらのカメラによる撮影画像の表示領域を含むレイアウトを用いることが好ま しい。従って、本実施形態の自動車用情報表示システムは、その時の自動車の状態 を状態情報 Dから判断し、その時の自動車の状態に適したレイアウトを用いて液晶表 示装置 11に情報を表示することにより、運転者に対して必要な情報を見やすく提供 する。
[0037] ここで、図 3 (a)および (b)に、液晶表示装置 11に表示される画像のレイアウトの具 体例を二つ示す。図 3 (a)のレイアウトには、カーナビゲーシヨン画像を表示する領域 301、スピードメータの画像を表示する領域 302、ギアインジケータの画像を表示す る領域 303、タコメータの画像を表示する領域 304、および各種の警告灯の画像を 表示する領域 305〜307が定義されている。また、図 3 (b)のレイアウトには、カーナ ピゲーシヨン画像を表示する領域 308と、自動車の後方に設けられているカメラによ つて撮影される映像を表示する領域 309とが定義されている。図 3 (a)および図 3 (b) に示したレイアウトには、それぞれ異なる値の MENが割り当てられている。例えば、 通常走行時には図 3 (a)のレイアウトが用いられ、ギアが R (後進)に入れられた場合 は図 3 (b)のレイアウトが用いられる。なお、図 3 (a)および図 3 (b)に示したレイアウト は、あくまでも一例である。
[0038] 上述のように MENで特定されるレイアウトに対して、レイアウト中の各領域に表示さ れる要素画像の表示態様を特定するための識別子として、 SENが定義されて 、る。 例えば、図 4 (a)および (b)に、上記の図 3 (a)のレイアウトに関して互いに異なる SE Nの値が与えられた場合の、液晶表示装置 11の表示例を示す。例えば、図 4 (a)は、 警告灯の画像を表示する領域 305には、警告灯の画像が表示されていない。一方、 図 4 (b)は、領域 305に、自動車のドアが開いていることを警告するためのドア警告灯 が点灯していることを示す画像が表示されている。このように、 1つの MENで特定さ れるレイアウトに対して、複数の SENの値を定義することにより、レイアウト中の要素 画像の表示態様を様々〖こ異ならせることができる。

[0072] 図 11に示すように、 SEN発行テープノレ 233の領域 233bには、 CAN変数番号と、 比較値と、タイム(1)と、 SEN番号(1)と、タイム(2)と、 SEN番号(2)とが記述されて いる。 CAN変数番号の欄には、図 7に示した CAN変数変換テーブル 231で定義さ れる CAN変数番号が入る。そして、 CAN変数番号で示される CAN変数の値が、「 比較値」の値と等 ヽ場合に、 SEN番号(1)および SEN番号(2)の欄に記載された 値力 SENの値として決定される。なお、タイム(1)の欄が 0の場合は、 SEN番号(1) のみを発行する。つまり、タイム(1)の欄が 0の場合は、タイム(2)の欄および SEN番 号(2)の欄にも 0が格納されている。タイム(1)の欄が 0以外の場合は、 SEN番号(1) の要素画像をタイム(1)で指定されて!、る時間だけ表示し、 SEN番号(2)の要素画 像をタイム(2)で指定されている時間だけ表示し、それを交互に繰り返す。これにより 、例えば、ウィンカーや警告灯の点滅表示を実現することができる。なお、図 11では 、 CAN変数が比較値と等しい場合に対して SENの値を定義した例を示した力 SE Nの値を決定する際の CAN変数と比較値との演算子は、 "= "のみに限定されず、 比較演算子等を定義しても良 、。

[0075] 上述のように決定された MENと SENは、 DPFコントローラ 21から描画コントローラ 22へ送られる。描画コントローラ 22は、 MENと SENのそれぞれをインデックスとして 用いて、コマンドテーブル 25を参照する。コマンドテーブル 25には複数種類のコマ ンド群が予め登録されている。これらのコマンド群のそれぞれは、 MENおよび SEN の取り得る値のそれぞれに一意に対応付けられている。すなわち、 MENが取り得る 値のそれぞれに対応付けて、レイアウト画像を生成するためのコマンド群が対応付け られている。また、 SENが取り得る値のそれぞれに対応付けて、要素画像を生成する ためのコマンド群が対応付けられて 、る。 [0076] 描画コントローラ 22は、 MENおよび SENのそれぞれに対応するコマンド群をコマ ンドテーブル 25から読み出して実行する。描画コントローラ 22が MENに対応するコ マンド群を実行することにより、 MENで特定されるレイアウトの画像が生成される。ま た、描画コントローラ 22が SENのそれぞれに対応するコマンド群をそれぞれ実行す ることにより、 SENの個数に応じた数の要素画像力 それぞれの SENの値に応じて 生成される。なお、レイアウト画像と要素画像とは、オーバーレイ画像を構成するため の、互いに異なる複数のプレーン上にそれぞれ生成される。そして、これら複数のプ レーンを重ね合わせることにより、レイアウト画像と要素画像とを組み合わせた合成画 像が生成され、液晶表示装置 11に表示される。
[0077] コマンドテーブル 25のコマンド群は、自動車の各部の状態に適した表示を実現す るべぐ予め作成され、登録されている。これらのコマンドの例としては、レイアウト画 像および要素画像のそれぞれのデータ (ビットマップデータ)を画像メモリ 26から読み 出すコマンド、要素画像の表示位置や大きさを指定するコマンド、要素画像を拡大ま たは縮小するためのコマンド、要素画像の回転角度を指定するコマンド、オーバーレ ィ画像の各プレーンに画像を転送するためのコマンド等が含まれている。
[0078] 以上のように、本実施形態の自動車用情報表示システムによれば、自動車の各部 の状態に応じた合成画像を生成して、液晶表示装置 11へ表示することができる。ま た、本実施形態の自動車用情報表示システムによれば、自動車メーカーや車種に応 じた状態情報 Dのフォーマットの相違に対しては、 MENZSEN判定テーブル 23の 内容を適宜変更するだけで対応が可能である。つまり、 DPFコントローラ 21の処理プ ログラム(例えば図 10に示したフローチャートの手順)については、自動車メーカー や車種に関わらず、共通化することができる。これにより、自動車用情報表示システ ムの開発コストを削減することができる。
[0079] なお、上述の実施形態は、本発明の技術的範囲を限定するものではなぐ発明の 範囲内で種々の変更が可能である。例えば、上述の具体例では、液晶表示装置 11 に表示される画面は、 1つの MENによって特定されるレイアウトと、 1つまたは複数の SENによって特定される要素画像とを組み合わせることによって構成されるものとし たが、例えば、液晶表示装置 11の画面を複数に分割した表示を行う場合や、液晶表 示装置 11の視野角によって互いに異なる画像を表示する場合等には、複数のレイァ ゥトを用いることも可能である。従って、この場合は、複数の MENを決定することとな る。また、上記の実施形態では、 1つの MENに対して 1つまたは複数の SENが決定 される例を説明した力 1つの SENに対して 1つまたは複数の SENが複合ィ匕されるこ とちある。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 移動体の各部力も収集された状態情報に基づいて、ドットマトリクス方式の表示装 置に当該移動体の状況に応じた画像を表示するための画像情報を生成する画像情 報生成装置であって、
前記画像情報は、前記表示装置に表示すべき画像のレイアウトを特定するレイァゥ ト識別子と、前記レイアウト中の要素画像の表示態様を特定する要素画像識別子とを 含み、
前記画像情報生成装置は、
前記状態情報と前記レイアウト識別子との対応関係と、前記状態情報と前記要素 画像識別子との対応関係と、前記レイアウト識別子と前記要素画像識別子との対応 関係とを定義した識別子テーブルを記憶した識別子記憶部と、
移動体の各部から収集された状態情報を取得し、取得した状態情報と前記識別子 テーブルとを対照することにより、当該状態情報が収集されたときの移動体の状況に 応じたレイアウト識別子および要素画像識別子を決定して出力する識別子決定部と を備えたことを特徴とする画像情報生成装置。
[2] 前記識別子テーブルは、複数のレイアウト間の遷移関係と、前記レイアウト間で遷 移が生じるために前記状態情報が満たすべき遷移条件とを、前記状態情報と前記レ ィアウト識別子との対応関係として定義し、
前記識別子決定部は、移動体の各部から収集された状態情報を取得する毎に、取 得した状態情報と前記識別子テーブルの前記遷移条件とを対照することにより、遷 移先となるレイアウトのレイアウト識別子を決定して出力する、請求項 1に記載の画像 情報生成装置。
[3] 前記識別子テーブルにお!、て、前記遷移条件は、前記状態情報に含まれる変数と 所定の値との比較式によって定義され、
前記識別子テーブルは、前記状態情報から前記変数を抽出するための変数変換 テーブルを含む、請求項 2に記載の画像情報生成装置。
[4] 前記識別子テーブルは、各レイアウトに含まれ得る要素画像の表示態様を、前記レ ィァ外識別子と前記要素画像識別子との対応関係として定義し、 前記識別子決定部は、移動体の各部から収集された状態情報を取得する毎に、取 得した状態情報と前記識別子テーブルとを対照することによりレイアウト識別子と要 素画像識別子とを決定し、決定されたレイアウト識別子に対して前記レイアウト識別 子と前記要素画像識別子との対応関係において対応付けられている要素画像識別 子を、出力すべき要素画像識別子として決定する、請求項 1〜3のいずれか一項に 記載の画像情報生成装置。
[5] 請求項 1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の画像情報生成装置と、
前記レイアウト識別子のそれぞれに対応するレイアウト画像と、前記要素画像識別 子のそれぞれに対応する要素画像とを記憶した画像記憶部と、
前記画像情報生成装置の識別子決定部から出力されるレイアウト識別子および要 素画像識別子を取得し、前記レイアウト識別子に対応するレイアウト画像と、前記要 素画像識別子に対応する要素画像とを前記画像記憶部から抽出して合成することに より、前記表示装置に表示させる画像を生成する画像合成部とを備えたことを特徴と する表示制御装置。

前記表示制御装置の画像合成部により生成された画像を表示する表示装置とを備 えたことを特徴とする移動体用情報表示システム。
