Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for controlling the structure of a voice communication connection between a first communication terminal and a second communication terminal.
- packet-switched communication networks for example in mobile radio networks according to the GPRS standard
- data transmission to communication terminals is carried out by means of data packets (for example IP packets).
- data packets for example IP packets
- voice data can be transmitted between the communication terminals via the packet-switched communications network;
- IP telephony or as "voice-over-IP”.
- voice transmission quality in this packet-based voice data transmission is often unsatisfactory; For example, it depends heavily on the current network load of the packet-switched communication network.
- the voice data to be transmitted by means of data packets has a considerable amount of data, so that the resources of the packet-switched communication network are considerably burdened and, if necessary, a cost-intensive expansion of the network infrastructure may become necessary.
- the invention has for its object to specify a method with which the construction of a resource-saving voice-communication connection can be controlled.
- This object is achieved according to the invention by a method for controlling the structure of a voice communication connection. between a first communication terminal and a second communication terminal, wherein a data transmission to the first communication terminal is carried out by means of data packets via a packet-switched communication network, wherein in the method when a voice communication connection connection request of a control unit of the packet-switched communication network occurrence of a circuit-switched communication network-related connection setup message is sent, whereby the circuit-switched communication network is caused to establish the voice communication connection between the first communication terminal and the second communication terminal.
- this method can be used when the first communication terminal, for example, uses a communication service of the packet-switched communication network and therefore the data transmission to the first communication terminal via data packets over the packet-switched communication network is performed.
- Circuit switched communication networks are also called "circuit switched w - Kommuni- cation networks designated;
- An example of a circuit-switched communication network is the GSM mobile radio network.
- the method can be configured such that the connection setup message is sent to a gateway which connects the packet-switched communication network and the circuit-switched communication network, and from the gateway a connection message is sent to a control unit of the circuit-switched communication network.
- This control unit of the circuit-switched communication network then independently controls the structure of the
- control unit of the packet-switched communication network is not burdened with the details of the control of the connection establishment.
- the control unit of the circuit-switched communication network can advantageously communicate as needed with the control unit of the packet-switched communication network; For example, additional information can be transmitted to establish a connection.
- the method can proceed in such a way that with the connection setup message the information is transmitted that no charge recording for the voice-communication connection is to be made in the circuit-switched communication network, whereby the billing in the circuit-switched communication network is suppressed.

- the method may be configured such that the packet-switched communication network is managed by a first network operator and the circuit-switched communication network is managed by a second network operator. This enables cooperation of communication networks managed by different network operators to establish the voice-communication connection.
- control unit of the packet-switched communication network can be realized by means of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

- the method can also be designed so that an OSA gateway is used as the gateway.
- an OSA gateway is advantageously a communication between the Control unit of the packet-switched communication network and the control unit of the circuit-switched communication network allows.
