Definitions

  • the temperature of the gas recently delivered to the controlled atmosphere compartment is different from the interior temperature of the compartment. This prolongs the time period in which the gas mixture reaches the desired temperature and humidity conditions. The time spent in achieving the desired temperature and humidity conditions results in reducing the shelf life of the food.
  • the aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device wherein the temperature of the gas mixture pumped into the controlled atmosphere compartment reaches the desired conditions as fast and as easy as possible.

  • the inlet of the gas generator is in fluid communication with the interior the body of the cooling device, and the outlet is in fluid communication with the interior of the controlled atmosphere compartment. Since the air within the body has already been cooled to a certain temperature, the difference between the current temperature of the controlled atmosphere compartment and the temperature of the gas mixture recently delivered from the generator is reduced as much as possible. Accordingly, the gas mixture reaches the desired temperature in a short while after being delivered to the controlled atmosphere compartment.
  • the controlled atmosphere compartment is situated just above the vegetable container and the inlet of the generator opens into the vegetable container. Consequently, the time period for reaching the desired conditions in the controlled atmosphere compartment (4) is shorter, and once the conditions are maintained, it is possible to keep these conditions unaltered to a great extent even if gas mixture is continued to be delivered inside.
