- the invention relates to a slip-resistant protective covering for surfaces, in particular for walk-in surfaces, made of elastic material.
- Surface protective coverings are used to protect sensitive surfaces, such as e.g. Carpets, but also applied to the floor foils with advertising or other information. Such films are subject to abrasion, which requires that they be provided with a protective coating when they are walkable.
- Such protective coverings must be non-slip so that people walking above it are not endangered. This is usually achieved by a roughened top layer of the protective covering.
- the disadvantage here is that collect dirt in the roughened layer and the transparency of the protective coating is limited. If such a protective coating is e.g. used for the transparent cover of advertising films, so a crucial part of the printing resolution of the covered film is lost. In some cases, only effective resolutions of 200 to 300 dpi or less are achieved.
- the build-up of soiling in the roughened surface further limits the transparency of the cover and the effective resolution.
- the anti-slip effect decreases with increasing pollution.
- a non-slip protective coating for surfaces and in particular for walk-on surfaces which consists of elastic material and is characterized in that the surface is substantially smooth and has small elevations.
- the elevations are hemispherical or spherical segment. They are therefore easy to clean and achieve adequate skid resistance values. Rounded hemispherical or bullet-shaped elevations also prevent injury. While roughened surfaces can cause abrasions, smooth surfaces with hemispherical or spherical segment elevations are not dangerous.
- Ball radii of up to 5 mm and preferably between 1 and 3 mm have proven to be particularly useful.
- the elevations may protrude up to 5 mm and preferably between 1 and 3 mm from the surface.
- the protective coating according to the invention can be made transparent. Then it is suitable for covering e.g. of advertising slides.
- the protective coating does not limit the visibility of the covered area.
- High effective print resolutions of more than 600 dpi and in particular of up to 1200 dpi are achieved.
- the smooth areas of the protective coating are completely transparent and do not limit the achievable effective print resolution.
- the elevations are only small and so far apart that they are not perceived by the eye when viewing a covered by the protective covering motif as disturbing.
- the protective coating may preferably be made of soft PVC.
- the elevations are preferably distributed statistically uniformly on the surface. They can be arranged in arrangement patterns, in particular in square, triangular or rhombic arrangement patterns. For protective covers used to cover walk-on areas, the patterns are preferably to be chosen and arranged such that the major axes of the pattern are at an angle to the main transverse directions of the surface.
