Abstract

Selon un mode de réalisation décrit dans cette invention, la transmission modulaire utilise seulement une paire de machines hydrauliques légères et de petite taille présentant une efficacité volumétrique considérablement améliorée avec des pistons dont portions de corps sont essentiellement aussi longues que la longueur axiale des cylindres respectifs dans lesquels ils vont et viennent. Les deux machines hydrauliques fonctionnent en boucle fermée, l'une étant utilisée en tant que pompe actionnée par le moteur du véhicule, et l'autre étant utilisée en tant que moteur. Chaque machine est pourvue d'un plateau oscillant totalement articulé. Grâce à une commande informatique, les angles des plateaux oscillants des deux machines peuvent être indéfiniment modifiés afin d'obtenir un rapport optimum vitesse moteur/vitesse roue pour toutes les conditions, qu'il s'agisse du démarrage, de la conduite en ville, ou de la conduite en montée, lequel rapport varie en fonction de la charge et de l'inclinaison, ainsi que pendant la conduite à une vitesse surmultipliée sur autoroute. Ce fonctionnement global du véhicule est obtenu alors même que le moteur du véhicule continu de fonctionner à des vitesses relativement constantes et à une valeur RPM peu élevée.
