  • the rear thickness 3 can be formed by a mold which is provided to form the tile, and the outer surface 3A of which, opposite the outer surface 1 A of the sheet 1 , will be suitably machined to obtain uniformity of thickness among all the tiles.
  • the surface 3A is generally obtained by machining subsequent to forming of the tile, with removal of a limited thickness, to obtain the exact required tile thickness; with this removal, a part of the inserts I3 may be involved in removal of the material to form the surface 3A, so that some of the inserts 11 are completely incorporated in the thickness 3 of synthetic resin, while at least some of the inserts indicated with I3 can have a flattened surface S3 which is formed during removal of the rear surface to form the surface 3A.
  • the rear surface 3A is partly composed of synthetic resin 3 and can be partly composed of the surfaces S3 which emerge on the surface 3A.
  • the surface 3A can be treated to obtain a slight reduction of the thickness in the area of the surfaces formed by the synthetic resin, to form slight depressions which allow use of the rear surface opposite the surface 1A, when said surface 3A is utilized to form the visible surface of the installed tile. It would also be possible to apply an analogous sheet of vitreous material to the rear, for structures formed solely of said tiles.
  • a tile can be peripherally composed directly of the surface of the sheet 1 cut and inserted in a mold, the cavity of which corresponds exactly to the extension of the sheet 1 , or preferably the element formed in a mold can be machined peripherally to standardize the peripheral surfaces of the tile, in which case some of the inserts such as the ones indicated with 113 can have (see Figure 3) a leveled surface S13 due to machining the perimeter of the tile, analogous to the areas S3 of the surface 3A belonging to the same number of inserts 13.
  • Figure 4 schematically shows a partial view of a mold 5, in the cavity 7 of which the sheet 1 can be positioned and over which the synthetic resin of the thickness 3, in which inserts such as the ones 11 , I3 and 113 are incorporated, is poured.
  • the product thus formed in the cavity 7 can be extracted from the mold 5 and machined if necessary along the perimeter as indicated above to standardize the perimeter of said tile. Further machining of the thickness of resin is carried out to standardize the thickness of the tile.
  • Figures 5 and 6 show two further possible solutions for pouring the resin, which entail providing a strip - made of metal, wood, plastic, rubber or the like - along the edge of the sheet of glass 10 or 20 to contain the resin and the inserts.
  • said containment strip 10 is mounted on the surface of the glass along the edge of the sheet of glass 11
  • said containment strip is mounted at the side and along the edge of the sheet of glass 21.
  • the strips 10 or 20 form a containment element for the resin with inserts which is poured into the compartment defined by the sheet of glass or the like and by these strips.
  • Said containment elements can be glued with a sealer so that the resin does not leak. These elements remain on the edge of the finished sheets and can be removed by cutting 1 or 2 cm off the sheet on all sides.
  • a strip of aluminum and rubber can be used, in particular as shown in Figure 5, as used in the glass industry as spacers for fitting double glazing.
  • This strip of aluminum is glued with a bitumen-based adhesive with high sealing power.
  • a tile thus produced is used to offer a visible surface - when the tile is installed - composed of the surface 1A of the sheet of vitreous material. It would also be possible for the tile to be alternatively utilized with the surface 3A opposite the surface 1A exposed and optionally having areas such as those S3 formed by the inserts partly involved by machining to remove the rear layer of the tile.
