Definitions

  • This invention relates to improvements in or relating to handling and is more particularly concerned with improvements in or relating to the handling and stripping of paper reel ends.
  • the loose ends of the paper hang down from the reels and are automatically pulled from the reel ends by the movement of carrying paper drawn from large carrier rolls.
  • the apparatus has a large carrier roll of paper mounted at each end of the row of central support rods. Paper from the first (rear or upstream) carrier roll has to be fed in turn over and under consecutive additional rollers located below the level of the central support rods. Paper from the first carrier roll is drawn through the apparatus under power and pulls the paper from the reel ends with it (on top of the carrier paper) over and under said additional rollers as the carrier paper is drawn through the apparatus. Paper from the second carrier roll is drawn off by the same power source as the first carrier roll but this time the paper from the second carrier roll is wound around a forward additional roller to lie on top of the paper being drawn from the reel ends.
